Not a Happy Camper!!! I've purchased about 8 pairs of shoes from The Shoe Market over the past 3 years. The comment I read from 4 years ago still stands. Once you make purchase and leave the store, they don't wanna refund nothing. I think I may start ordering shoes of the web-site from ortho heel. more

I first went to Shoe Market in search for bedroom shoes for my wife who has Neuropathy. The manager helped me. I had many questions about how she had tried a pair like the one's he had and had problems with them. He assured that he would take care of any problems if any occurred. No mention of reimbursement was mentioned but I assumed that was part of the conversation. I returned late and purchased a pair. My wife decided against them. So I ordered another kind on the Internet. I brought them back and was hit with, ""I'm sorry, we don't accept returns."" Although a sign was posted, below eye level at the counter, I wasn't aware this was their policy. i feel if someone has this policy, It's should be their responsibility to make sure the customer is aware of it before the purchase. It was an expensive lesson for me not to shop at The Shoe Market again. I am an avid customer of REI in Greensboro at Friendly Center. They have a fantastic policy where you can return shoes no matter how long you wear them !! more

I am posting this review in response to the many comments, both positive and negative, that can be found online about The Shoe Market. We are an independent, family owned business that has been proud to be part of the community for more than the last twenty years. We offer an abundance of unique brands in sizes from women’s 5 – 13, 4A – 4E, and men’s 7 – 17, 2A – 6E, and maintain an inventory of over 50,000 products. Certified pedorthists and therapeutic shoe fitters are part of our sales team and we make it our mission to give our customers the best possible service, a goal achieved by actually measuring your feet, listening to your needs and keeping our sales team educated in foot conditions and product knowledge. We take the time to fit you in shoes that match both your foot needs and your lifestyle. The Shoe Market is active with the Better Business Bureau and currently maintains an A+ rating. Because we do take the time to work closely with our customers and have an educated staff that separates us from other shoe retailers, we do maintain a no-refund policy that is posted in four unique locations at our sales desk and on all of our receipts. However, we are happy to exchange or offer a non-expiring store credit for any unworn regular price merchandise in the original packaging within fourteen days of the original purchase, and will offer an exchange on sale merchandise in the original packaging within fourteen days of the original purchase. more

What an experience! They carry every brand & size imaginable. I haven't been to a shoe store in fifteen years with that quality of service, where customers actually get to sit down & be measured. They even had the width I needed. That is next to impossible to find in a department store (both service & product). They also had shoes for the plantar fasciitis that's been plaguing my left foot. Love those Finn Comforts & NAOTs! Sign into their web page guest registry and see what happens! more

Beware is correct!!!! 4/29/2012

All I did was walk in the place with my husband and ask where the athletic shoes were. Before I knew it the salesman whisked me away and gave me a pair of dirty used socks to put on my feet, sized me and went and got me these orthapedic looking walking shoes(which I really was looking for walking shoes). I got up and looked around a bit at the other more attractive shoes which were all over 100.00 dollars. The shoes he gave me were 25% off and were 79.00 with tax. When I thanked him and took the box of shoes that he dang near shoved in my arms I fled toward my husband who had been approached by two different sales people and he had turned down immediately because all of the men's athletic shoes are overpriced and ugly and he had seen what this salesman was doing to me. \r I whispered in my husband's ear, I don't want these shoes...I am going to put them back, no sooner did I say that, was the salesman back over to us , took the shoes out of my arms and told me that he would carry them for me and followed us through the store while we looked at other shoes. At this point I was getting angry but at the same time I was embarrassed that I couldn't speak up to ditch the shoes and this Al Bundy type shoes person. My husband finally just took the shoes from the man and bought them which was a spur of the moment thing I thought also. \r When we left and got into the car I was incensed, mostly at myself, then the salesperson and a little at my husband. I said"" I am not keeping those shoes!"" I will return them tomorrow"". (They really look like medical shoes for someone that has severe foot trouble). But when I got home and looked at the receipt much to my surprise there is a ""NO Returns For Shoes More Than 20% percent off!"" He made sure he went and picked my shoes out for me so that they were 25% off. Bad place! Ugly shoes! Bad policy! Overpriced! High pressure sales tactics! Completely my fault! I am the sucker this time but Never again! more

Beware of Return Policy - No Refunds for Any Reason 12/28/2011

Bought rainboots for a teenager's gift. The store would not refund money so they could buy elsewhere as teenager was not interested in any other footwear the store carried. I never realized with a receipt you could not get cash back. That is a ridiculous store policy. more

Beware! Do not place an order with this store!! 7/3/2011

The Shoe Market carries a very wide variety of quality shoes. They also have very knowledgeable fit specialist that will spend unlimited time getting the right fit for your shoes. If they have the shoes you need or want in stock then all is well, however, if they tell you they need to order your size and style you should take your business elsewhere. In fact, you can order online and receive the shoes much faster. I have made the mistake of ordering on 3 different occasions with this store. The last time was in fact my last time. I spent in excess of $700.00 for five pairs of shoes. They had three of them in stock and had to order two. Just four days shy of a month, I had not heard one word about my order. I called and the order has still not arrived. They take your money, send you on your way and never follow through with your order. There are other places to purchase these shoes that will appreciate your business. more

Let down & disappointed 6/25/2009

I have been a customer of The Shoe Market for years as has my family. They were even nice enough to do a post dated pay plan that involved my making a deposit and paying in 2 equal payments. I went home reconsidered my purchase & returned to the store 3 days later. Even though the shoes were unworn I was informed by the owner that he would not exchange any of the $60 deposit I had made & that I was out of luck as well out $60. I was very open & honest in the fact that I simply could not afford them. Mr. Perry Calhoun (the owner) did not care. I will never step foot into their establishment again. I post this review to make others aware that they need to consider their purchases carefully when shopping at The Shoe Market because they peddle their high priced shoes with a no refund no matter what policy. Pros: There are other places to buy shoes Cons: No refund-no matter what more

Example: great place for good bread 3/18/2009

The Shoe Market is rated the top shoe store on the East Coast. Being that I have Plantar Fasciitis and a very narrow foot, its hard to find shoes. I was extremely impressed with the owner of the store , he spent two hours with me and helped me find the right fit for my foot condition. After receiving impeccable service , I took my mother back to the store , she was able to find special shoes for her high arches and extra wide feet. But wait, there's more...They have a massage therapist on hand to massage your feet and a spa inside the store that provides facials and skin care. I was extremely impressed with the Shoe market , and will definitely return . Pros: Best Shoe Store in the World! Cons: theres only one shoe market more
