It is a great roof in doing exceptional work and that has great customer service to get great exposure. more

not good 4/11/2011

great view but the food was not worth the money or time. I have been to. Much better olaces for much less. I dont like shrimp, that might be part of my problem, but I really didn't,t like anything they had. The fish was not good, the prime rib was not great, the chix cordon blue-bland. I would never tell a friend to try it, even if the view was great. more

overpriced for food that has been sitting under a heat lamp all day 12/16/2008

we got there and were starving, but didn't make any reservations. they made us wait 20 minutes to be seated, which seemed understandable. when they finally seated us, we found that the restaurant was almost completely empty! there were at least 30 tables they could have found for us. it was as if they wanted us to feel like we were second rate in an exclusive place. we were impressed with the view and the presentation, but the food was still mediocre. no where in the restaurant, not even the menu, did it say the price of the buffet. we thought we would be paying around $20-25 per person. when we got the bill, we found out it was $38 per person! And drinks are not included! That is more than the bellagio and wynn in vegas (and those places have about 5 times as much food - including seafood!). save your money and get a freshly cooked meal someplace else. Pros: view of the temple Cons: not worth the price more

Overated?? Who are you people?? 11/3/2008

The Roof is just one of those restaurants that you must eat at!!! The service was amazing and friendly, I felt like they anticipated my every desire before I even had to ask. The view of course is worth the price alone, not to mention the food! The desserts of course were the best part. As for the other reviews suggesting this restaurant is overated I would have to sincerely disagree. Where else can you get all you can eat gourmet food with excellent service for this price. Reall!!!! When my wife and I eat out at other places like Applebees we are a few bucks shy of spending the same amount! This place really has it all!!!! Not to mention I requested Lamb when I made my reservation and they had it for me, and my wife has several food allergies and the accomodated her every need with specical dishes straight from the chef!! Really they don't make restuarants like this anymore!! You have got to try it!!! Pros: Ambience food and service...you really get what you pay for! Cons: Not great to bring the kids along more

they have it all 8/13/2008

This is a great place to eat. The prime rib is always perfect. I love the jumbo shrimp and the desserts. The servers are so helpful to recommend some wounderful drinks. They don't serve alcohol, but have some really fun drinks. You need to try their italian soda. Don't miss the chance to listen to a great pianist, enjoy the view, and mmmmmm the food! Pros: ambiene, service, music, food more

The place to be 7/25/2008

The roof is outstanding!!! We go to the roof all the time. It is the place to be for celebrating. The food is always spectacular. We have learned to pace ourselves so we have room to sample everything. With so many choices you are sure to find something you love! They have friendly staff that go out of their way to give you a great experience. We are particularly fond of the live piano music. You don't see that in most restaurants. I would recommend that you call ahead for reservations especially on the weekends. It's a great place to celebrate your anniversary. They even offer to order flowers for you when you make a reservation. Who does that??? The roof is the place to be! Pros: Ambience, View, Service, Flowers, Music Cons: Parking, Construction more

Beautiful view bad food 7/9/2008

Can't rave enough about the view but the food...yuck way over cooked, over seasoned and bland somehow. The desserts were good but I've had much better, heck I make much better. I have been here twice and had hoped that my experience years ago was a fluke but it wasn't. If you go don't waste your money on red meat. The wait was horrible and everyone was really casual. It felt weird to be all dressed up for my anniversary. more

Paying for the view, not the food 7/1/2008

My wife and I dined at The Roof this weekend and were greatly disappointed. The food was universally underwelming....tough meat, bland pasta salad, watery chowder, flavorless fish. Only the dinner rolls and mashed potatoes were delicious but that far from justify's the $90 we spent. Pros: Good service, great view, nice ambience. Cons: Food is mediocre at best and price is not fair at all. more

Overrated 2/19/2008

My wife and I went to eat at the Roof for our anniversary. The building and view were amazing, but the food was...lacking. The buffet has less of a selection than Golden Corral, with the same quality food. For what we paid I was expecting steak made-to-order, or at least something ""high end"". The foodwas definitely not befitting of the price. It was a nice experience because of the view, but other than that, not worth it. Pros: Beautiful view Cons: Too pricey more

overrated 1/23/2008

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. Disappointed that there was no wine menu. The view was absolutely gorgeous, however the food was nothing worth getting excited about. I think it is overrated, the front staff and waiter were snobby. Pros: dessert bar Cons: service, main buffet, no alcohol, overpriced more

Best Dessert Buffet Ever! 1/16/2008

Okay, if you love buffets, but want a gourmet buffet - this is your place! And I love their dessert buffet. Their creme brulee is to die for. You can have your choice from about 15 different decadent desserts. The presentation is awesome as well, each item on the dessert menu looks like a photograph from a foodie magazine. Enough about the desserts - there are also several main course choices too - the kind you'd get to choose from on a cruise ship. And if all of this isn't enough - there is the view! Pros: gourmet buffet, awesome dessert buffet Cons: have to get reservations quite ahead of time more

Eh, it was okay. 8/9/2007

My husband and I went here for his birthday. We were SO disappointed in the service. Both of us have worked as servers for years and know what good service is (and isn't). For a buffet-style restaurant, good service is quite easy, and our server didn't refill our drinks or take dirty plates away which makes it really difficult to eat on the little tables. The view, of course, was amazing and very romantic. We loved the piano player. I really enjoyed the little creme brulees, but was almost too full for dessert, so my advice is to save room. The food was good, but not amazing--especially for the price you're paying. It's a fun experience to be there with the view and the atmosphere, but I wouldn't go back. Pros: Gorgeous view, piano player, very romantic Cons: Expensive for what you're getting more

People who feel like seeing the temple is being preached to need not apply 8/6/2007

It's funny to read about people being uncomfortable about the 'conservative' atmosphere. I guess this means that they're dissapointed that you can't get slammed on alcohol and make and idiot of themselves. These kinds of people may be more comfortable at a sports bar. I dine at the roof on my anniversary every year and it's great. I highly recommend it. Pros: Great view, great gourmet food and everything else that you expect from a 5 star restaurant more

Nice Vegas type buffet 11/15/2006

The Roof reminded me of one of the more expensive buffets in Las Vegas but with fewer choices. The food was excellet by buffet standards but the choices were fewer then I expected. Most of the tables I observed had at least a partial view of Temple Square. The three mariage proposals I observed I a little under two hours there made me feel a little out of place. If you have never been there it is definatly worth a try but I also think there are better dinning options in Salt Lake City for the same price. more

Restaurant or publicity stunt? 6/12/2006

Not quite sure what to make of The Roof. It certainly gives a nice 'in your face' view of the mormon temple, but the restaurant itself isn't really all that great...unless you like buffet style. If I'm going to a high-priced 9.3 restaurant, then I better have the food brought to me. This certainly spoiled the mood for me. Not to mention the very crowded feel to the whole place. Pros: Altitude and view Cons: buffet style eating, lack of privacy at tables, overly conservative ambience more

WAY OVER RATED!! 1/21/2006

Our experience at the Roof Restaurant was far from enjoyable! To begin with, they seated the 2 of us where we were squeezed against the wall/partition with no elbow room whatsoever. Regarding the food, the only things that were half way edible were the salads and the desserts. I'm a prime rib connoisseur, and the cold and tasteless prime rib was yuckey! The other meat courses were lacking as well For far, far less money, the friday night prime rib buffet at the Chinese Gourmet Buffet in Murray is infinitesimally superior to this joint! All in all, it was a bad expensive experience that we will never engage in again! It's truly a mystery why the LDS church would put their name and reputation in the ownership of such a poor, poor extremely over priced eating establishment! Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

CONSERVATIVE! EXPENSIVE! TOO L.D.S.! 12/9/2005

This roof top buffet is great if your one of 40,000 L.D.S. dentist's living in utah, conservative, and rich. The food is good and it is romantic but it's like having your honeymoon night with your parents in the same room. The entire mindset of everyone at this restaurant is one of L.D.S., conservative, and republican. We prefer a restaurant that's a little less expensive and more open minded and liberal. For this reason we will not eat here again. Pros: Good food, Romantic, good view Cons: expensive, conservative, L.D.S. more

Where do I start! 5/2/2005

WOW! Talk about getting what you pay for and then some. Once the bill is paid you enter a whole other world of delectible delights. Prime rib, fresh friut, any dessert you can imagine! All delicately displayed. Live piano music keeps the mood in the air as you look out over the world-renown temple square. Reservations are a must and request a window seat if just for two. Pros: Fresh food, Excellent Service, Ambience more

Our Holiday Experience 1/1/2005

We, had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Window view was breathtaking, piano music perfect with the season, mood setting, not overbearing. Food presentation marvelous, quality very high, variety pleasantly surprised. Desserts, if I could buy them and have them shipped to me it would be great. Especially, the almond cherry round cookie. Thank you for a wonderful evening. Diana Lewallen Pros: view, food, service more

Great View - average food 7/9/2004

We reserved ""The Library"" for a special occasion - but could only have it for 90 minutes. It was saturday night buffet at its most average. The entrees and carving table were nothing special, salads and dessert - ok - but for the money I'd drive to Deer Valley and have my party at the Glitretind - NOTHING, but NOTHING beats that! This place has a spectacular view - and that's it! Pros: view, locale Cons: , average food more
