best place for fresh organic food 5/7/2008

I kept hearing about this place but it's in the Marina so it took awhile for me to get there. Now I wish there was one closer to me because I have no choice but to travel there repeatedly. It has a modern yet casual atmosphere--good place to sit down and enjoy eating great food (sort of a garden meets a Swedish wood sauna). If you like fresh local food as an ingredient in almost every item on the menu, you need to check this place out. They offer beautiful salads and allow you to have your own created with local organic farm produce. If you don't mind paying a bit, they have delicious organic juices made for you as you wait (this can take awhile so don't go there in peak hours if you want a quick juice to go). The appetizers and entrees range from Californian to Asian in style. If you want a hamburger don't go. They only offer free range organic chicken, shrimp and wild sustainable fish - the fresh halibut with seasonal vegetables and grains is amazing. If you care about where what you eat comes from, like the idea of fresh seasonal ingredients and don't want to spend a tonne, this is your place. Oh, and they also have scrumptious home made desserts and a good selection of local organic wines and beer. I give lettus 5 stars for being the best new discovery I've made in years! Pros: great prices and access to fresh local organic food, delicious and diverse menu, sustainable Cons: crowded, parking, wait more

Could almost go vegan if everything tasted like this! 3/18/2008

This place is amazing and worth every penny! I can't recommend the California Veggy Burger enough. I go during the week because the weekends can have LONG lines out the door. more

Lettus deliciousness 4/15/2007

If you are looking for a yummy and healthy place for a meal head to Lettus. The restaurant hosts a large selection of food all made with organic ingredients. The restaurant itself is a gorgeous and very organic space with wood pannels along the walls and an open floorplan. I would bet anything on the menu will leave you fully satisfied so order as you please. If you're in a rush the long line often goes to the door, but if you have the time its worth the wait! more

Delicious health-ful eats! 4/10/2007

One of my favorite quick healthy meals in the marina! I've been several times (mostly for dinner) & have been pleased every time. The lettus veggie burger is so unique & different than any other veggie burger I?ve had but is extremely tasty & super filling. (Now I have to get it every time I go!) Other people I?ve been with have enjoyed the salmon over noodles & the chicken panini sando. You don?t need to be a vegetarian or health nut to enjoy lettus. They also have wines by the glass ($6-7) which helps enhance the meal. The service has always been very friendly & prompt. Pros: quick service with a smile, delicious veggie burgers Cons: parking more

Fantastic salads!! 11/16/2006

I used to come here all the time when I worked in the area. Their chicken salad was the best I've had in the city. Their menu is extensive and everything I've had here is excellent. Even their custom drinks are really good. more

Pricey Organic Food that just doesn't quite reach the mark 11/9/2006

$17 for lunch got me a miso soup, a half sandwich, and a half green salad - with a smoothie. The miso soup was disappointing because I was expecting traditional miso, and it was not - and the sandwich lacked the full-ness that you would expect ... The green salad amounted to a couple of greens on the side. And the smoothie was $6! Well, you're paying Marina prices for food that wouldn't make it if it didn't have the label of 'organic' on it - I just didn't find the meal satisfying. The interior decor is nice - wood, and simplicity - but the food just doesn't make the mark. I think you can find better in the Marina. Pros: Organic Options in the Marina Cons: Pricey, and not worth the price, in the end more

Snail-like service 11/8/2006

I ate here with 2 other girlfriends on a late Sunday afternoon. With the idea to grab a quick and healthy bite, we ventured into Lettus around 2:30. Although mostly empty-our orders took about 30 minutes, except for one omelette. So while the one hot dish sat at our table cooling, my cold chicken salad didn't come for another 10 minutes and the third dish (a cold sandwich) came 2 minutes later. Not only were our dishes spaced in this manner, no one said a word to us such as ""your other meals will be right out"" It seems like most of the people here actually avoid eye contact with the customers so as to avoid our hungry pleading looks. My salad was boring-lettuce and chicken, not worth $10. The other plates looked much better although my friends poor omelette was chilled by the time she ate it. Pros: nicely decorated Cons: service, value more

great healthy food! 10/1/2006

I definitely recommend this place for a casual night out with friends/family, but not for a date or such. The food is great! I ordered the sesame crusted Sea Bass, it was wonderful! It was a special, but it should be a regular menu item. For dessert, I highly recommend the raspberry ""cheesecake"" which has no dairy or sugar. It was amazing, I didn't know the difference between that and real cheesecake. Pros: food is great! Cons: the food prices add up quickly. more

Huge menu, average fare 7/12/2006

I've dined here several times when seeking something fast and casual, and I'm not dressed for regualar Marina dining. This is a nice addition to the Marina; the menu is extensive and holds a lot of variety. The food is quite average, nothing jumps out. The format is super-casual: order at the counter, they bring it to you. Don't expect excellent service. They have some take-out/prepared stuff too. Outside tables for nice days. Pros: Extensive menu, outside seats more

Great food 5/18/2006

I'm reading all these bad-service reviews but my husband and I went when it was empty and had no problems. I had the quinoa bowl, he had the jasmine rice bowl and they both were delicious. We are vegetarians and I get so tired of having to choose between heavy, creamy pasty dishes or bland roasted eggplant and mushrooms -- the array of choices here was dazzling to us. Pros: Many veggie options, Innovative dishes Cons: Location (Marina) more

Lettus disappoint you 4/25/2006

I was disappointed with the food, service and quality at this restaurant. My girlfriend and I sat down and were not waited on for about 30 minutes. We were about to get up and leave when a rude waitor came over and grunted at us. We proceeded to wait another 20 minutes for our food. You would think because we waited so long we would be so hungry we'd eat anything. Well, we had the cold Soba Noodles with chicken, the chicken sandwhich and the beet salad - all were sub par and were very bland. I would not recommend this place at all. It is slow and the food isn't good. What more can I say except two thumbs way down. Cons: Poor Service, Bland Food, Long waits more

Orgasmic Organic! 4/9/2006

Love this place - healthy dishes, big choice, great atmosphere. Very casual and relaxed. While the staff are lovely, the service could use some work on the efficiency side. Three thumbs up. Pros: Lots of choice, Fresh ingredients Cons: Slow service. more

Good food, mostly nice people, slow 3/30/2006

They have a great menu and for the most part the service is good- the guy who made my wife's salad was really rude to her when she asked for some extra salad dressing becasue they did not put enough on it. The main downside is they take too long and they bring everyone's food at different times. they are new, so they will hopefully get their act together on the timing. Pros: heathly, nice location Cons: slow, mean salad maker more

Don't have to be a Health Nut to Like Lettus 3/17/2006

I'm not a health nut, I don't care if my produce is organic and I love Lettus! Everything is fresh and full of flavor. The do serve chicken and red meat, though. If you are writing this place off as a hippie vegan spot (like I did), I suggest you rethink and give it a'll be pleasantly surprised! Pros: Fresh and Flavorful, Inexpensive, Wine and Sake more

Dissapointing 3/15/2006

This place has the right idea, but strongly misses something. We waited forever to receive our food - salad and sandwich, and when I received my salad it was very unappealing. The sandwich was okay but they overdid it on the goat cheese. I really wanted to like this place, but considering the experience, I don't think I will return. Pros: fresh juices, variety on menu Cons: service more

Slow or Non-existent service 3/5/2006

I really wanted to like this place since I go over to that part of town frequently around lunchtime and like to eat healthy but the first time I went in I ordered and paid and 20 minutes had gone by and I still hadnt gotten my salad and juice. Turned out they lost my order. The last time it happened again... and I ""reminded"" them of my order this time it took 30 minutes to get a simple sandwich and juice (which btw is $18). Both times I have been there I have heard similar complaints from other customers. I gave it a second chance because I like to eat organic but this place doesn't have it together. I will not return. Cons: poor service, slow more

tasty food 2/28/2006

""Tasty food! Cool/hip decor! Just been there for lunch, but hope to stop in after work and try out dinner. The coconut lime noodles are my favorite. Also the various salads ( I've only had one, with beets, but I want to try them all) look really fresh/good quality produce/large portions. The staff has been friendly and accomodating through some confusion of opening--I've been there twice now and really look forward to returning. Just wish there were one closer to home (soma)..."" Pros: tasty food, dessert more

User review by rahir 2/28/2006

i tried this place, hoping things had improved since they opened- well they hadn't. my lemon ricotta were the soggiest things ever. in fact, the insides weren't even cooked. i took them back up to the counter, and they remade them, but this time the outsides were practically burnt and the insides were still too mushy to eat. the tofu scramble was adequate, but not worth the $, and the hot chocolate tasted way too milk and not chocolatey enough. for the price, i would expect a real host and servers and not a number to hold up like a food court. and the wood walls with strange backlighting put me way too on-edge for 9am. honestly, go somewhere else. anywhere else. Pros: organic Cons: inconsistent quality, food court atmosphere more

Love it 2/22/2006

I ventured to lettus through word of mouth last week. I had heard the salads were excellent and the fresh juice was great. I was not dissapointed. I have the roasted beet salad, an immune builder juice, and the coconut rice noodles (also recommended to me). The salad was very fresh and large enough to share with my friend, the juice was suprisingly tasty (not the ""healthy"" flavor I antiscipated), and the noodles were excellent. The service was a little on the slow side at the dinner hour but well worth it--I'll be back! Pros: fresh, delicious, inexpensive Cons: busy more

Slow Sevice, Great Food 2/16/2006

Service was slow but the food is great. Let them get a chance to get up to speed. Pros: organic, atmosphere, location Cons: service more
