Fantastic, World Class Art Musuem 2/11/2006

This is the real treasure of Kansas City. The Nelson Atkins Museum of Art is a world class art museum, with many excellent collections. Their collection of art from Asia is particularly fantastic. From modern to renaissance, most major periods are represented. A lovely sculpture garden, complete with gigantic shuttlecocks line a lovely lawn. The Nelson has recently undergone a huge expansion and now has miles more of its treasures on display. The Nelson's treasures are housed in a beautiful neoclassical building which is one of Kansas City's most important landmarks. The art within ranges from classic masters to modern innovators. The Nelson also houses the largest Asian art collection in the midwest. more

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is a great art museum in the downtown area of Kansas City. I don't really know anything about art, but I do know that they have a great collection of all sorts of different art works. I can go and spend hours by myself looking around at all of the art. I makes me feel like I have a little culture more

Wonderful place for a date!!!! 6/9/2005

I love this art museum. They always have great displays. It is a wonderful place to take a date and get lost in all the artwork. They have a wonderful dining space in the center of the museum that is just lovely. You should prepare to spend hours in this place!!! If you do take the family, they have a scavenger hunt for kids where they have to find certain pieces of art, etc. This helps keep the kids entertained while you get to look around. PROS: Romantic and educational CONS: none more
