Great Weekend Brunch! 9/10/2010

After many great dinners, I had brunch at the Liberty Tree for the first time today and loved it. Really good Bloody Marys and Mimosas, and the Kennebunkport Eggs were wonderful - delicate sauce included about 1/3 of a lobster in chunks, and the home fries had carmelized onions that gave them a really homey taste and feel. I'll be back for sure. more

Lunch near Capitol Hill 5/4/2010

I'll add that LT is also great for lunch. Walkable from the North and East sides of Capitol Hill. Agree that the pizza and calamari are first-rate. My personal favorite is the Casino seafood pizza. more

Great for lunch and dinner 4/27/2010

I am a huge fan of their small plates and appetizers: fennel salad with scallops, calamari with pepper butter, and shrimp with white beans. Their Salads are huge portions. My two favorites are the seared ahi tuna with black olive vinaigrette and the goat cheese beet salad. All of the sauces and dressings are house made by Glufling and you can taste it! I have had the burger and the chicken sandwich, both cooked and seasoned well, and both come with the hand-cut boardwalk fries. Just the right amount of salt and vinegar I remember from the beach. The entrees are well balanced; my favorite is the pork chop with apples and cabbage. Love the pizza dough, just the right amount of crispy and chewiness. The seasonal fruit crisp is great, save room more

Fantastic 4/27/2010

I've been to the Liberty Tree countless times with my boyfriend, and we always leave extremely satisfied. Out favorite is the G Special, but it's even better if you replace the peppers with the fantastic mushrooms. Seriously, these mushrooms are amazing. The pigs in a blanket are fantastic, and the pepper butter sauce for the calamari is house made, and it's so good that my boyfriend keeps it and uses it as a condiment on everything. But the best part is the bread pudding with the banana rum sauce. Everything on this menu is pretty much guaranteed to be good more

Great Flavor and Atmosphere 4/27/2010

I've had dinner there several times and have been very pleased with the food and service. I love some of the flavors the chef has created like the citrus sauce on the side of beautifully cooked cod, little neck clams in white wine sauce, meatballs to die fo, and salads that can complement or stand on their own. Add a glass of wine or two and you have a pleasant evening out. The prices are reasonable and you do not leave hungry. more

Flavorful and Delicious 4/27/2010

I've been to The Liberty Tree several times since it opened and have always been satisfied with the food, service and atmosphere. I've tried many of the small plates and appetizers - peppadew peppers, onion straws, goat cheese/fig jam, pigs in a blanket and potato fritters. All were delicious, well seasoned and a nice portion to share with my date. The house and chopped salads are really tasty and I like that you can get a small or a large size. I've had the Margherita pizza as well as a meatball pizza - the sauce has a nice spice to it, and the crust is thin and crispy. I've also had the rigatoni which was rich, but very good. All three desserts are worth saving room for! Can't wait to try some other things on my next visit! more

Liberty Tree Falls 4/27/2010

Liberty Tree fell short of my expectations. My group started with the pigs in a blanket appetizers and I ordered a vegetable pizza. The appetizer was a fairly small portion. The pizza was not enough for 2 people to share, but enough for me to bring 2 slices home. I was expecting the pizza to be similar to the fine offerings at Matchbox. It was delicious, but just fell short. Maybe it is the gas oven; the crust just lacked in flavor. The restaurant itself felt very cramped and I was almost rubbing elbows with the patrons at the next table. The interior was too white and uppity. The menu prices suggest casual; the restaurant atmosphere should reflect that as well. more
