The Very Best 2/17/2012

The Gourmet Factory is by far my favorite restaurant in Raleigh...Take that is simply my favorite restaurant, period. I can be found there every Friday night (and I mean every Friday night...without fail) sitting down enjoying the food, atmosphere, and unparralleled service. more

Very Good Hidden Gem 2/12/2012

The Gourmet Factory is a hidden gem. You might drive by it if coming from the beltline . . . get in the right lane after the 1st stoplight and drive slow. Look for the umbrellas above the tables on the outside patio. The sign is on the front of the building (due to city codes) and you can't see it when driving on Western from the beltline. The pizza is upscale (like Mellow Mushroom or better) and top notch. Good Italian food; good sandwiches, and really good fries. The 'hidden gem food' is the kebobs. I usually have Adana kebobs, but chicken, and lamb are also available. These are authentic. That was not Mexican-Spanish they were talking in the kitchen, previous reviewer. It was from a country that borders the Mediterranean Sea (get out your geography book). You can call ahead so the food is ready when you get there. Nice! There is a very nice bar with 2 flat screen TVs. Beer on tap, bottled, and wine. I opt for the Blue Moon with an orange slice in a frosted mug. If no one is sitting at the bar or watching TV, then my son (they have a kid's menu) sits there and we change the TV to Nickelodeon (sorry previous reviewer...but that entertains my son). If you have a crew and want a good place to watch 'the game', this is a great spot. The host is 'hair challenged' (sorry again previous reviewer). Lots of us are. I am too. I hope that doesn't offend you, and if it does then stay home and have the food delivered to you. Request a delivery driver with lots of hair! This guy is the nicest person you could ever meet. Ask for something (eg: change the TV channel) and he'll provide it. He may have a tattoo. I have not noticed in the many times I've been there. I don't know why that would matter. Lots of people have tattoos. So go there and have a pizza with some delicious toppings (kalamata olives, sun dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers), kebob, sandwich, or Italian fare and a beer; and relax. Stay as long as you want as they don't make you feel like you need to leave as soon as you finish eating. I've been there many times and never left disapointed. Check out their online menu before you go if you want to be sure, but they have good food. Try the kebobs. more

authentic place with great service 2/10/2012

The other day I happened to have dinner at this very authentic place. Mediterranean pizza and salad were so delicious with the best service in Raleigh! more

Not good 2/9/2012

I was recommended this place by the staff at the hotel I was staying at, so I decided to go in for some pastaFirst off, I missed the entrance and had to turn around wait at the light and try again.I was looking for a sign, but did not see one.It is very easy to miss this place if you are not paying attention.I finally made it and parked out back,It was a dark almost spooky place to park...especially for women I would assume...I must say that I was turned off by the man who had greeted me and sat me down.He looked like a skin head and he had visible tattoos on his neck...But aside from that, he seemed friendly, but somewhat nervous and unsure when I had asked him a few questions about the menu.I decided to get the chicken marsala.Let me tell you that is tasted good, but there was hardly and spaghetti served with it and I felt like it was more like a chicken marsala soup!I was upset that I had spent nearly $20 on a skimpy, misleading meal.To top that off...I had to pay $2.00 more for a tiny little salad with hardly any lettuce and one little cucumber and a tomato. It was rediculous!I wanted some garlic bread to go with my meal, but I did not want to pay the extra $4.50 for it...Every other restaurant that I have gone to has included atleast bread and/or salad...I settled for the complimentary homemade bread...It was bland...and kinda hard..I guess that's why it was free. This was definitely not worth what I spent.During my meal, the music was loud and depressing...It was just a bunch of awful instrumentals that sounded...just AWFUL and UNPLEASANT...I heard some yelling back in the kitchen as well..Not sure what language it was...I don't know what was going on back there, but whatever it was, it didn't sound good.To be quite honest...I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone...I didn't have to wonder much why I was the only one in the restaurant...I WILL NOT be eating here again... more

Think twice before you order 12/28/2011

I called tonight to place an order. First, the person answering the phone barely spoke English. I asked him what the spinach pie was and he couldn't tell me. He said it was just a spinach pie. I asked what was in it. He asked one of his co-workers and the response I got was, our chef left for the evening and we don't know. I should of taken a cue from that answer and not ordered. I will say that delivery was speedy. I think the spinach pie would of been good if it hadn't been burnt on both sides. Don't think I'll be calling this place again. more

TERRIBLE, VERY RUDE!!!! 5/26/2011

I was so excited about this restaurant because the menu looked great and it was very close to our house. more

Versitile, Affordable, and Delicious 1/20/2010

My husband and I either get delivery from here or eat at the restaurant once or more per week as we live very close and love their food. I am a vegetarian and I especially like that I have never had a problem with getting specialized orders (i.e. chicken dishes w/o chicken). We bring family and friends whenever they're in town, and everyone, even an especially picky sibling, has loved it! Overall, this has definitely been the best tasting Italian food for the best value out of all the restaurants we've tried in the area. Pros: Great food more

great place 8/2/2009

we went the gourmet factory 3 days ago and we really liked it. Will go again. Pros: best pizza in the raleigh more

Awful! Terrible, bland food and HIGHLY MISSLEADING webpage 7/13/2009

We went to eat here because it was very close to where we live. Honestly, I am not quite sure what anyone means about dinner rush, because the place was deserted. We walk in, and after 3 minutes of waiting around, finally had to call out to see if anyone would answer. Another 2 minutes later or so, someone finally came out to seat us. The food was bland, and not very good. The alfredo sauce had no flavor, and nothing else seemed to have any seasoning to it what so ever. The fries were about the only good thing. Don't expect to be able to reference the web site for anything. The hours of operation are WAY off, and the prices are 2-3 dollars more expensive that when you arrive. The entrees state that they come with free salads and garlic bread. When the waiter was asked he shrugged and no. They come with no such thing. On top of that, given that we were the only people there, the service could have been a bit more attentive. He forgot that I had asked for a side of something extra. Not that I would expect anywhere else to remember, but there were no other patrons at all. There were also children just sitting up at the bar watching the Disney channel. I love kids, and don't mind them at all, but I feel like the bar is not exactly the place for minors to be sitting. Prices were ok, for sandwiches etc, but the entrees were a bit over priced, especially with the 3+ dollar gouge from what is being advertised online. The atmosphere was decent, but the music was darn near depressing. They could be a nice place, but they have LOTS of work to do. We were both sorely disappointed. Pros: sandwich prices decent, fries alright Cons: bland food, missleading webpage, poor service, long wait more

What a great place to eat! 11/30/2008

I was nothing but impressed with my entire experience at The Gourmet Factory. Good Food that is reasonably priced. I am completely satisfied with this restaurant and will be returning to this place again and again! Pros: Excellent Food, Reasonable Prices Cons: None to mention more

So glad we found this place 8/9/2008

I love this Restaurant, Food is amazing, and the service was extraordinary. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. and they Deliver!! Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

Don't pass up this hidden gem when looking for a great meal 4/18/2008

We had a great experience at the Gourmet Factory and we'll definitely be going back. My wife and I went there early on a Thursday evening before the dinner rush and, to be honest, it doesn't look like much from the outside. We briefly debated going elsewhere and decided to give it a try - we're happy we did! Pros: Great Service, Delicious Food, Romantic Atmosphere more

Great Experience and food 2/25/2008

service is always excellent as well as our meals.. Great atmosphere and prices are reasonable. highly recommended.. more

Outstanding italian food at great prices! 2/8/2008

A hidden restaurant that needs to be discovered! Pros: Great food, great prices, restaurant was quiet at 6pm on a Friday night. Cons: Dark parking lot, somewhat dated appearance inside the restaurant more

Great Italian Meal 12/7/2007

Great atmosphere that has a quiet mood when need be and and it could also have a lively atmosphere if there with your friends, but also a great place that you can grab food to go. This is a quiet place that you can take your friends (there is a bar) or you can have a great meal with your family. The waiters and waitress' are great and very friendly. Definately check it out. Pros: friendly service, great food, they deliver Cons: dark parking lot, restaurant could use an upgrade more

This is a hidden treasure 9/13/2007

My wife and I had been hearing about this restaurant from one of our close friend and we decided to try it a couple of monts ago. The Gourmet Factory became our favorite restaurant in Raleigh. The restaurant is so great and the patio is a nice retreat. The service is friendly. Prices are very reasonable and portions big. The Gourmet Factory is the restaurant that my wife and I (and kids) would highly recommend to anyone looking for great food and a great time. Pros: Great food, service and patio, kids friendly more

Simply the Best 7/19/2007

I tried many others but they are really good. I talked to the manager of this place about a week ago. he sound very polite. He said that they always try to use freshest possible. Its really easy to notice that is ture. I have not find a place yet who makes their own sauce. Pros: Very nice food, great costumer service. more

Definitely not gourmet 7/18/2007

I've tried this place a number of times because it is close to my work. The name is misleading as there is nothing gourmet about the restaurant. Bring a sweater because it's freezing inside and be prepared for loud pop music. The sandwich deal is good (5.99 sandwich, drink, fries) and the food is basic pizza and sub fare but today we had to wait over an hour for our sandwiches and the place was empty except for 3 other tables. I ordered a calazone as takeout one night and cut it in half when I got home. The cheese inside was unmelted and the sauce was cold like it had just come out of the fridge (I only live 5 minutes away). One good point is that the manager apologized for the late food and the wait staff is friendly and helpful. Pros: cheap, friendly service Cons: loud music, slow, freezing inside more

Best Italian Delivery 7/11/2007

You would be hard pressed to find delivery anywhere which meets the standards of this restaurant. The pricing is more than reasonable, expect to get twice what you are paying for. At a local bar or pool hall that does not have food? Order delivery from these guys. Quick service and amazing flavors will surely please. Pros: Pricing, Flavors, Service Cons: Often forget silverware on Delivery. more

Best Italian in town. Chicken Marsala is killer 6/27/2007

Best food I have had for a long time. They just build a bar. Soon will be perfect spot to spend weekends. 110% Recommended. more
