We have stayed at the Edgewater several times on our anniversary (we live in Seattle). The first time was immediately after our wedding. We love the hotel location and style, but we have had very bad experiences with excessive noise problems in our rooms both times. The first was an unfortunate proximity to several small dogs next door who started barking around 7am when their owners left and didn't stop for hours. We were exhausted after our wedding and were forced to finally call the concierge. The dogs were moved and we were able to sleep, but they were still clearly audible from way down the hall. Thinking it was a one-off issue, we booked again for last weekend, but were placed in a terrible junior suite - room 400, which is directly underneath the air handlers for the entire hotel. It was unacceptably loud in that room, think camping out next to a highway. We spent one sleepless night and then asked the concierge to move us, but after packing up and moving 10 rooms down we wound up next to barking dogs again. The staff is nice, and sympathetic, but the experience was not good. I understand the dogs aren't really the fault of the hotel, but clearly this is a common problem as it has been an issue 2 out of 2 times. Loud pets have no place in a hotel that advertises itself (and costs as much) as a luxury hotel. It felt like we were staying in a kennel. I was so frustrated I tried to find the Edgewater pet policy to see if it caters especially to dog owners. I'd also really recommend that the hotel not use room 400 for paying guests - it's insulting to pay so much for something so low quality.
