Best place for conversation 8/2/2011

Best place for conversation. I ALWAYS enjoy the conversations I have there...there's really something about Cloister. It always leaves me happy! Haha. more

We absolutely loved it! 7/29/2011

Recently went here with my boyfriend for a relaxing saturday night dinner/hookah. We absolutely loved it! The outdoor seating sets a good atmosphere and the food is delicious, I am a calamari fiend so I ordered the calamari with sweet and spicy thai sauce..it was even better than the calamari I've had fresh from Boston! more

This is a great place 7/28/2011

This is a great place to go for brunch when there's nice weather. Unlike so many places where you have to wait for an hour or two to sit outside for brunch, there is tons of outdoor seating in the cloister garden. The garden is such a nice atmosphere and relaxing since it is removed from the street. more

Adorable spot 7/25/2011

Adorable spot. Love it!!!! Smoking hookah at a cloister. What a genius idea. more

They deserve a perfect rating. 7/22/2011

I have been coming here for an eternity, at first mainly for the mojitos, but once they changed their chef, I started coming back for lunch and mojitos. I don't know what magician pours the drinks, but you always leave with a "buzz". The Cloister cafe is the best during the warmer months, so you can enjoy many cocktails, under the grapevines and lush foliage, with hookah and friends. The last time I went, was with a friend, on a rainy day, to celebrate her graduation from Parson's. We were seated "inside-outside" area, which is a tented area, but still not deprived of many trees and plants. We ordered mojitos, a brie quesadellia appetizer, and two salads: the duck and the salmon, I'm not a big salad person, but I like the way they make theirs. Big portions of duck and salmon, well seasoned, fresh and filling. I love their fried potatoes too, with sea salt, time and pepper. To end our meal we ordered a hookah and dessert, and oddly enough it ended up being on a bit over 40$ a person(with out tip), which I think is beyond reasonable for the location, quality of food, and magical cocktails. I would recommend this place 100% for a first date, since they never rush you or take forever to bring your food. I would also recommend this place for sitting alone on a sunny afternoon, with friends at night, or whenever. It's a winner. It got a perfect rating from me, because it deserves it. You get the exact bang for your buck! more

The food is good 7/18/2011

This is a nice place for a hookah lounge. Classier than most other hookah bars. It has both inside and outside seating. Ask to sit outside. The food is pretty good. more

Mellow scene 7/6/2011

On my way out for a night in wburg, I was riding my fixed gear through the east village, and what to my surprise but I get a text from a dear friend who's hanging out nearby. I lock up my bike, and pop in for a quick hello. They were smoking some great sheesha, and plenty of hugs all around. There is a *lot* of outdoor space here, which is nice, and that also means smoking is allowed. I kind of enjoy that. The hookahs are fancy and colorful so if you're looking for more grit, go to Karma or Khufu. I enjoyed my stop in here, though beware it's semi-touristy with college students who don't know how jersey shore they are. Yeah, but not bad. I'd go back for sure. more

Wow! 6/30/2011

I like to come here and enjoy some hookah. It is $20 for 4 people and they have tons of flavors. There is also a 1 min. beverage charge but that is nothing. I just got an iced mint tea to go with my hookah. The hookah lasted 2 hours without changing the coal. more

Had a great time! 6/22/2011

We had a good time in the backyard garden and the waiters did not rush us or anything. It was very relaxing. more

Great drinks, nice decor 6/6/2011

"I had a mojito, which was ok. Most unique aspect - both bathrooms have 2 toilets in it! In my tipsy state, it took me by surprise. But it's cool, I'll often share a cubicle with my gf. But this takes that to another level." more

Huge place with a nice variety menu 6/2/2011

Cute place with lots of outdoor space. It's a nice place to chill on a summer night. The scent of hookah smoke wafted throughout the area. more
