Uninspiring, theme-restaurant 5/26/2006

I kind of liked Cheesecake factory when the first ones opened in Los Angeles in the 1980s. But now that it has become a chain, the gimmick fails. The menu is overly extensive with ads on just about every page (tacky). The food is pretty predictable for a corporate/chain restaurant and is consistently bland. The serving sizes are grotesquely large (supersize me???). There is no charm or creativity to this restaurant. However, people seem pleased to cue up for it, irregardless of its lack of redeeming values. more

Big Beautiful Bowlfuls 5/26/2006

My answer to your question is Cheesecake Factory. Their salads are huuuuuuuuuge and look absolutely delicious. Here's the menu. http://www.thecheesecakefactory.com/menu.htm My personal favourite is the Buffalo Chicken Salad. I love Cheesecake Factory! They have great locations, great menu selection and consistency. I highly recommend them! more

My "Oh NO! Not another chain restaurant" misgivings were assuaged. 5/21/2006

It's a nice place to get plastered after a seeing a movie at the place across the street, or a play at the place a couple blocks away. The high ceilings and Egyptian motifs are a draw for me, though admittedly "cheesecake" isn't the first thought that comes to mind when I see the place; and it's not a good place for a 'cheap' date. They are one of those businesses that supposedly hires "secret shoppers" to spy on their employees, and judging from the level of knowledge and the politeness of their servers, I tend to believe that either that is true, or they receive a ton of training, or both. Don't expect to get a table immediately -- ask how long the wait is, go shopping, and come back in 25 minutes. more

I've never made it to the cheesecake 5/5/2006

Sadly, this is true. They serve such enormous portions that I have never made it to dessert. I will also have to agree with some of the other reviews and say that this place is really espensive for what you get. The food isn't terrible, but it's not all that great either. The wait to get in is irritatingly long - which makes you expect great food. more

I don't get it 5/4/2006

Ok, maybe it was because the first time I went there was a hair in my pizza and they didn't even comp the food. But still, it's expensive, the food is mediocre, and the wait is long. Yes, they have a lot of cheesecake on the menu, but is there really a better cheesecake than classic New York anyway? It's just not worth it in my opinion. more

Large cheesecakes in the vicinity--dieters beware 4/13/2006

I know a lot of people complain about the prices and the sometimes long wait at the Cheesecake Factory, but I still like going there. Maybe it's the glass cases full of tempting cheesecakes that keeps me coming back. I also love the bread that comes with every meal. Not the sourdough, the brown one. I once asked a waiter what it was, and think he told me that it was honey wheat or something. I don't really remember, but it is so GOOD! Another fav of my is the luau salad. It's so good I forget that I'm just eating a salad. Imagine two large crispy wonton squares that is surrounded by mixed greens, mango chunks, and macadamia nuts, just to name a few of the fixings. Absolutely wonderful! more

Great cheesecake 4/3/2006

I think my favorite thing is the cheesecake!! They have the best selection in Seattle and each piece is big enough to share unless you don't like to share it because it is so good (like me!!). My favorite is the traditional strawberry cheesecake. The menu does take a while to go over since it is so extensive but there are some great dishes so it is worth the time to read over. They don't take reservations so be prepared to wait on long time unless you go during the week. more

I love to eat here! 3/27/2006

I've read the other reviews and I guess I'm in the minority because I love eating at the Cheesecake Factory. Some of my favorites include: Luau Salad, Chicken Madeira, Chicken Croquettes, the complimentary brown bread, and the peanut butter cookie dough cheesecake. The drawback to eating here is they don't take reservations so you almost always have to wait. All the portions are enormous, doggie bags are a common site leaving the restaurant. more

Menu is too extensive to be good 1/24/2006

Sometimes it's better to do a few things really well than a lot of things just ok. I think food is one of them. The Cheesecake Factory is chain and has an enormous menu. This is a good place to take a large group of people that you don't know very well, since everyone is sure to find something that they like. The cheesecakes are really good and they have a huge selection to choose from. The bar is also a decent place to check out for happy hours with work friends, although they don't have any happy hour specials. Like most chains, the food doesn't seem particularly fresh to me, and it's a little generic. Overall, this isn't a bad place to eat though, just not very remarkable. more

Very noisy restaurant, unambitious menu 9/30/2005

This restaurant may very well sell the worst burgers I've ever had. They were served on sub rolls instead of buns, but that wasn't mentioned on the menu. The chef/cook failed to apply a light coat of mayonnaise to the bread, resulting in the bottom half of the roll being soggy. The fries that came with the burger were cold. The acoustics in the restaurant were horrible; we had to ask our server to repeat herself several times, and she had to lean over to hear us. My dinner partner and I were unable to carry on a conversation because of the noise. Other parties raised their voices in order to talk, which resulted in us being surrounded by people who were practically yelling - not my idea of a relaxing dinner! Additionally, our server got my order wrong, and then insinuated that it was my fault. The Cheesecake Factory is quite possibly the noisiest restaurant I've ever been in. We never did try the cheesecake... and we haven't returned. more

Always Consistent 8/26/2005

Every Cheesecake Factory I've been to from Waikiki to Seattle has one thing in common. Consistently good food. Avo Egg Rolls, Thai Lettuce Wraps. The Luau Salad. All so good. Always crowded. Always the nice atmosphere. Always a good time. Oh yeah, and the cheesecake is divine! Too many to mention, but they're bound to have one that makes your tummy rumble! more

Big portions of pretty bland food 7/12/2005

I'm a vegetarian, so that might bias me. I've been to Cheesecake factory twice and both times the food has been unexceptional. If a group of people from work or something are going out and they want to go there, it's fine with me, but you won't find anything too interesting or inventive to eat. I must admit that I've never tried the Cheesecake or other desserts, so maybe that's what I'm missing... more

My Favorite Place to Go With Baby 6/20/2005

I have been to several Cheesecake Factories in several cities - and I love it every time. We go to the Cheesecake Factory in Seattle quite a bit with our baby and always have a great experience. After we are seated, they always bring out a "baby plate" for our daughter that has sliced bananas and small pieces of bread on it. They say it is their standard practice to bring that to all tables with babies. I think that is a very nice touch. The staff is also very friendly and great with our baby - making her laugh and making sure she has everything she needs. There is also so much to look at in there - it keeps our baby busy. It is also just loud enough that if she starts crying, the background noise drowns her out so no one can really hear. Besides the fact that it is good place to go with baby - my husband and I love the food. For those of you who have been there before, you know the menu is literally so big - it is a book. The food is delicious and they give you huge portions. My advice - eat half your meal to save room for the amazing desserts - and take the other half of your food home for later. One word of caution - if you are going with baby, go at off-peak times for best experience. The Cheesecake Factory does not take reservations and often times the wait is over an hour - not good for baby. Going for lunch after 1:30pm, and an early dinner on the weekend (5:00ish) will guarantee less of a wait if any and more attention from the server for you and your baby. more
