The Cheesecake factory lives up to it's name. Several choices of Cheesecake. And you get to look at all of them in the display case while you are waiting for a seat. This place...

Huge Portions 4/8/2003

We had lunch there as was suggested to us by a police officer we asked out on Union Square. He was right; they serve the hugest portions of food I have ever seen! The dessert (mud pie) alone was enough for 4 or 5 people! You can't beat the value because the prices are very reasonable. If the weather is nice enough the outdoor dining area is great! Tip: Go Early!!! Get there right at opening time, otherwise you have to wait a ridiculous amount of time and probably isn't worth it. i went to the cheesecake factory for Valentines day this year and it was the best.. i had the angel hair pasta and it was to die for.. then for desert i had the cookie dough cheesecake and that was simply the best.. if u like to spend money for a good meal now and then i strongly recommend this place .. Timing is EVERYTHING 2/21/2003

The pros/cons of this restaurant are as wide as the pacific ocean, but if you're looking for good food at reasonable prices, and you don't mind putting up with throngs of tourists, this is a good place to go. The food portions are large and delicious (The Chicken Ceaser Salad is fresh and it's enough to feed 3 ppl) and the cheesecakes are DIVINE. I recommend visiting during brunch or when the restaurant opens--you'll have no problems dealing with bad service or waiting in line by then. Long wait factory 1/11/2003

Visit on weekdays because on weekends the wait is usually 2 to 3 hours and there are no reservations. If you dont want to wait that long, do pick up one of their mouth-watering cheesecakes. A slice of the original cheesecake with strawberries and ice cream is delicious. However, at 8 bucks a slice, it can get quite pricy. The food is decent but on the expensive side. Service is okay and the atmosphere is nice when its not packed. There is also a great view and you can sit ouside on the roof if its not too cold. Pros: Great view, Great Dessert, Close Parking Cons: Pricey, Long wait, Insanely Crowded more

This restaurant is so popular that getting a table is the most stressful act I've had to endure for a restaurant. Luckily you can take the ""seating pagers"" around Macys during your 1 1/2 hour wait. I'm not even sure making reservations would help, and I would not recommend going during the weekends. However the food is soooo good, aside from the endless menu of mouth watering cheesecake. Mouth watering is the only phrase I can think of when I hear ""Cheesecake Factory"". They have every kind of cheesecake you would ever want, or you could ever think of! Unworthy of Reputation 10/28/2002

The atmosphere of the Macy's CF is wonderful for socializing, but the horrible food dominates the conversation. First, the Cheesecake does not taste natural. It tastes as if someone added premium flavors to a Jello Instant Cheesecake packet. Definately not worth the calories. The food is generally bland and it's clear that the menu is designed to appeal to a broad range of tourists with no sense of adventure. Avoid the chicken dishes at all costs! Order a cocktail instead. Pros: trendy decor, close to shopping Cons: long waits, horrid food, not worth the $ more

i really like the cheesecake factory. the view is great from the 8th floor of the macys building. the food is pretty good, but the reason you go there of course is for the cheesecake! lots of types, each one better thatn the last! Why the hype??? 9/22/2002

I have been to Cheesecake Factory several times, each time hoping that it'd be better than the last. Cheesecake Factory has failed!!! Been to the one here, Irving, and Los Angeles and can't say too many good things about it. The drinks/smoothies are decent..but the pasta dishes are bland, otherwise just BAD...the only good part is, obviously, the cheesecake....but I swear I've had better cheesecake elsewhere! NOT worth the wait. Why the hype??? more

LONG WAIT? YOU BETCHA!! I used to go to Cheesecake Factory every week (whether where I live or in the bay when i'm visiting) because of the good food they have! Not only is the food good, but the portions are HUGE! This one in particular ALWAYS seems to have long waits. Food here DEFINETELY fills an empty stomach =) Parking around this area can be hard to find, but the view from Macy's is ABSOLUTELY georgeous, especially sitting in the patio! the food here is not that great, but come for dessert. the cheesecake is out of this world! the ambience is nice too, especially if you sit outside on the patio on a warmish sf evening (but, don't worry if it's not exactly tank top weather, they have heaters) inside is nice too, but come early or late folks, the crowds are unbelievable during dinner time - esp. on the weekends. more

great cheesecake..not so good food 8/18/2002

I have been living in the bay area for quite some time and the cheesecake factory is a complete tourist attraction. Expect to wait at least 45 minutes anytime of day in a crowded environment. You cant make reservations. The food is not anything special and is served in huge portions. The best thing about the place is the cheesecake...but its not worth the wait. more

if your into fake, gummy, over-processed artificially flavored cheesecake, then this is the place for you...how to do you think they are able to offer over 30 flavors of cheesecake every day...they fill it full of preservatives..i think health-concerned californians would avoid this place, leave it for the tourists.
