I'm hooked 2/24/2012

My boyfriend introduced me to this place last summer, and I love it. I come here at least twice a month! I'm partial to open-kitchen, ""down home"" restaurants. The cost is reasonable and the atmosphere great. If you have to wait (which you will if you go on a weekend; this place is usually packed - a testament to its awesomeness) there's a nice little coffee shop next door. Everyone at the Anchor is super friendly; the service is always excellent. However, even if the service was crap and the food was served on paper plates, I would still come here because IT'S JUST THAT GOOD. The fish has a cripsy, tasty crust and the chips are flavored with sea salt (though I prefer their homemade tartar sauce.) Their burgers are made with grass-fed beef, and they're so good I would gladly trade my left had for one. I believe their burgers just won an award from CityPages, too. Super tasty food, super friendly people, super price, super all around. more

Good food good price 5/6/2010

We've been here twice and love it! The food is great. You get a huge basket of fish and chips for $8.95. That is a really good deal. more

Love every time and I like to try everything 4/26/2010

Before giving a five star review, The Vibe is NE urban pizzazz. Visually warm and the Smells are comforting. Having a Guinness or a Harp while you wait for seating is recommended. This is my new chipper and think alot of others will agree... Pros: Great Beer, Clear Vinegar, Phat Chips, Some Irish accents, Cons: The wait to be seated is not to be desired. more

Went there on St. Patty's Day 3/20/2010

Great service, great atmosphere, and good food. How often do you get to watch the chef/cook hand dip your fish and drop it into the fryer? Yes the fries were a bit greesy, but overall we had good food and a good time at the Anchor! more

Fish was overcooked and blah blah bland 12/27/2009

The decor was nice urban, modern. But they seated us right by the door and front window and normally that isn't bad if there is some kind of barrier between the front door and you, but none was to be had at the Anchor even in winter. Pros: Chips were good Cons: Seats by the door and tough fish more

Fish and chips?????? 12/26/2009

nice small NE place food was bad!!! better places in NE for fish and chips Pros: small Cons: fish was no good more

Could be great, but was only good 11/10/2009

Didn't live up to the hype. Love seeing new restaurants pop-up, especially with a specialty or unique point of view, but this one needs work. Staff was friendly, great ambiance, cool vibe. The Anchor could be really amazing but I thought the food was so so. I know, I know, it's Fish and Chips and it's not a five star dining experience. The fish itself was ok, but nothing special. The chips were so greasy it brought the whole meal down. You're better of getting Fish and Chips almost anywhere else in town. If you're going to do one thing, do it well or don't do it. I also tried my friend's burger and again, mediocre-city on this as well. Hope you work it out Anchor, we need you in this city....I'll try you again in a few months to see if you've progressed Pros: Cool space, great vibe Cons: Lackluster food more

  • Northeast Minneapolis isn?t the first place you?d find an original fish and chips joint. After all, it is flyover country. And it is, well, not in the UK. But this laid-back but still lively...
