There's nothing like this anywhere. God bless Rod Dibble for hanging in all these years (50-count-em) as piano bar player. The Alley only surviv...

I went in with low expectations and even then I was disappointed. They do get a star fro friendly service, but the place is just a dive bar.

Located on Grand Avenue, just a block away from the Grand Lake Theatre, the Alley is at once charming, old-fashioned, and completely novel. It's not easy to find a good piano bar these days, but this one definitely fits the bill. The man at the piano is Ron Dibble, a likable, humble musician who has called the Alley his home for longer than I've been alive. He knows every tune in the book, and is eager to give everyone a turn at the mike, regardless of vocal talent. You don't have to be a world-class singer to enjoy yourself at the Alley. You just need a stiff drink, and perhaps a friend to encourage you to let out your inner Sinatra. more

  • In Short
The interior is dimly lit with low ceilings and ski-lodge-style shingles, while thousands of business cards cover the walls. The dining room is a maze of tables and booths; the tiny bar room is minimalistic. In the back, an old piano is surrounded by a wooden cover to rest drinks upon. A few nightgowns hang inexplicably on a clothesline. Microphones protrude from the piano bar and singers go round-robin, belting out Cole Porter to Hank Williams tunes. The bartender can sometimes disappear for a few minutes, but patrons never seem to be short of a drink.
