If you're considering renting or buying into a property that Thayer & Associates manages, LOOK ELSEWHERE. If you're considering having Thayer & Associates manage your property, do some research, ask many who live in their managed properties, see if you can find anyone who can actually recommend them. \r
If you've experienced the management style of Thayer & Associates, and like me loathe it, you may file a complaint at the Institute of Real Estate Management.\r
Our sidewalks are always icy in the winter. There are loud construction projects each summer. The maintenance staff don't actually clean, they simply move brooms around, in between smoke breaks beneath residents' windows while talking loudly at 6:30am.\r
Horribly disorganized, unresponsive, rude when there is a response. Ever since they took over management of the property the cleaning guy vacuums the stairwells instead of mopping them, there are splatters of dirt left from three winters ago, the doors in & out of the building are dirty from years of people touching them and when there was construction on the building last year, there was dust and smoke that got into the building and they did nothing to communicate with the tenants ahead of time, only after they were threatened with litigation. I had a hole in my wall they opened up in early December 2006 (to take out asbestos and research a plumbing leak) and no one called to schedule a time to repair it. It was finally repaired in July, just before they gave us two days to remove everything from our balconies so they could start a six-month long LOUD construction overhaul of our balconies, that was supposed to take four months. \r
Thayer must be really cheap if the condo association chooses to continue to keep them on. Or, the building manager in my particular building is the problem. The old management company did a spectacular job of cleaning and shoveling. I used to feel safe. We've even had break-ins since Thayer came on.
Cons: Rude, Unresponsive, Unsafe, Filthy, Annoying
