The veggie pho was great - loaded with fried tofu and mushrooms, fragrant, and just slightly sweet. The beef pho was very good too, according to my husband. And, of course, the famous cream puffs did not disappoint - fresh and light, as always, and the perfect finish to the meal. However, the service could use some improvement. I'm not asking for smiles and friendliness - I understand that these things are not necessarily a part of restaurant culture in some parts of the world, and that's fine with me as long as the servers are not outright rude. I'm talking about things like not waiting for customers to ask for something twice before bringing it out, or figuring out a way to take credit/debit card payments when your card machine breaks down (couldn't they write down the card numbers and then charge the cards later?), or at least posting a sign on the door saying ""sorry, cash only - card reader is broken tonight."" Instead, we only discovered that the card reader wasn't working when we went to the register to pay the bill. Luckily, the ATM - our bank's ATM, which was a plus - was nearby, but an advance warning would have been appreciated.
Note: this review is for the U-District location
Pros: good food, good value
Cons: service could use improvement
