Thai Garden

I used to love Thai Garden, butI just went to there for dinner and the food quality has dropped. We ordered the stir fried paste (pretty good) and the waterfall beef salad (very salty, to the point of being hard to eat). The service was slow although the two waitresses were very nice. My wife and I try every Thai place we can find and we were encouraged to try this place by the good reviews it had received. Unfortunately, those reviews were out of date. The restaurant is worn; the rugs are dirty and the decor needs updating. We can live with these issues, but the cleanliness and food left much to be desired. To start off, our glass top table was dirty with dried food in several locations. A large spoon on the table was extremely tarnished, and the temperature inside was so cool that most of the customers who were there were wearing their coats. The only good food we had was the appetizer...a good plate of fresh rolls with a nice peanut sauce. The rest of the meal ranged from mediocre to inedible. My wife had the Thai Spicy Basil with vegetables and it was barely warm and mostly tasteless. I had the Thai chili paste with vegetables and it was so overloaded with fish sauce that it was inedible. I asked my wife to try a bite just to see if I was overreacting and she agreed that it was inedible. We wanted this to be a good place because it is pretty close to where we live, but we will not be back. more

I ate at Thai Garden last night for the first time - and it was the BEST Thai I have had in Dallas! Let me clarify by saying I am a VERY PICKY eater! The food was out of this world! The spring rolls were a beautiful crisp golden brown - not greasy at all which seems to be the problem with most spring rolls. I was in pure wonton crispy heaven with the spring rolls - plus they use vegetables other than just cabbage for the veggie spring rolls. I had an enormous portion of pan woon sen with fried tofu - this is a vegetarian's dream place to eat!! And to finish off the best meal I've had in forever - tempura battered bananas with caramel, chocolate sauce, and green tea icecream! This was so good that I am STILL raving about it today. I could eat there 5 nights a week and not get sick of the food!! The service was excellent! If you order something too spicy, they can tone it down for you without any trouble. The food came out fast and fresh. And the price is in line with your average Asian restaurant. Everyone should try Thai Garden!!! I am now addicted!! more

This is the bes Thai food that I have ever had outside of Thailand. The service is really great, and not very expensive. They also have quick delivery service. I would definitely eat there again. more
