Best

Thai Bistro has turned into our go to place for Thai food. The food is always so well prepared and the staff is very friendly. They have an upstairs room/area if you ever need...

Worst

Be careful food is good but is it at the chance of being charged twice. Happened to me!

Thai Bistro has turned into our go to place for Thai food. The food is always so well prepared and the staff is very friendly. They have an upstairs room/area if you ever need to have a really private dining occasion. Get the Thai tea…it is perfectly made. Pros: Everythign tastes great, great lunch prices more

THE BEST! 6/23/2010

This food is amazing. If you haven't been here you are truly missing out on a part of life.\r Try the panang curry, crispy veggie rolls, shrimp & asparagus, cashew chicken, crispy duck, tom yum soup... wow not sure I can stop! \r They will make any food as mild or spicy as you like.. and WOW they can put it to ya! I once ordered the chicken with green beans (or spicy green beans, I don't remember exact name) and I was crying in the restaurant (literally!) in ultimate heat and pleasure! They were SO spicy, yet still fantastic. \r The shrimp & asparagus dish is simple in a light brown sauce, but I tell you, you will never have asparagus as perfectly cooked as this!\r The panang curry is rich and buttery with perfect spices. It is very generous with sauce and chicken and has great veggies mixed in.\r The cashew chicken is not like another asian restaurant. No cubes of chicken and carrots here. The best cashew chicken I have ever had!\r Ok enough raving from me.. you have to try the dishes for yourself!\r I order the panang curry literally everytime I go, along with 1 or 2 other dishes for my husband and I to share.\r They're open late, prices are pretty good and the food never fails to please! The restaurant is beautiful and the staff is super sweet.\r RUN TO THAI BISTRO!!! Pros: awesome food & service!!! more

Thai food that's not overly spicy 2/7/2010

I had Tom Kha soup and Pad Thai chicken. Both were served as requested -- not too spicy. The service was good; soothing. Although the menu is not expansive, there are certainly enough choices to meet most people's taste. The staff could brush up on their English a bit, though. Pros: Cozy atmosphere, good prices Cons: Tables too small more

Very good Thai food, pleasant service. 10/1/2008

I often go here for lunch. They have a very good selection of Thai dishes. Personally, they have the best spring rolls I've ever had. The price is a bit more than most lunch places, but nothing out of sight. When the weather is appropriate you can sit outside if you don't mind looking at the parking lot (often the case in Houston). I've always had pleasant service here. Pros: Great spring rolls Cons: Lacks a full bar; some wine and limited beer selection only. more

Used to go here all the time... 8/5/2008

I used to go here a lot and thought the food was great. The past couple of times, it's just been OK. Edible but not enjoyable, I think. After my last visit, I'll be taking a break or won't go back, b/c I think the food has gone downhill. As for the last time I was there, the steamed dumplings were broken and filled with water. They were mush and it was gross. We sent them back, told the waiter why, and the restaurant did nothing. While the waiter was a very nice person, I think the restaurant should have resteamed some new dumplings or took them off our bill. We didn't make a huge deal over it. Just didn't want to eat water filled, mushy dumplings. Entrees came out just ok. Barely seasoned. Another time I ordered a curry, that was supposed to have potatoes and carrots (whole reason I ordered that particular curry) and there were none in the dish. Not one. I told the waitress and I got a side of steamed potatoes and curry. OK but still. They need to get the kitchen together a little bit. I would say the food these days is average, at best. Even a little below. Pros: A lot of vegetarian options. Location, I guess. Cons: Waiters are nice but don't really speak or understand English, kitchen is really slacking these days more

Great Food, Dine In or Take Out 7/27/2008

Great spot. I frequent this place at least once a week. My favorite dishes are Chicken Pad Thai, the Tom Kha Soup, Curry Panang, Pros: Quick, nice staff, great food Cons: Parking more

Average thai food 8/9/2007

If you are looking for very average thai food, this place will be perfect for you. The salad served with the lunch specials are mediocre at best. Potstickers and spring rolls are pretty standard as well. I opted for the basil chicken and jasmine rice because the waitress told me that it was their ""best"" chicken dish. Again, very average. I think that if you are in a rush, this place will do, but otherwise, just go to Nit Noi, you will probably be more satisfied there. Pros: Lunch specials, quick, consistent service Cons: average food more

Wonderful Food and Service 7/5/2006

I try to go there at least once a month. The curries are superb, especially the pineapple curry! The servers are very attentive, and remember us every time. Great atmosphere, incredible food, and friendly service make this my favorite Houston Resturant! Pros: Everything! Wonderful Food, Service, and atmosphere! Cons: Service is not terribly fast, but not so slow that you become impatient. more

BEST place for lunch in greenway plaza area 11/18/2005

I can't believe more people haven't discovered this place for lunch. The food is excellent, I've had everything on the menu at least once and never been disappointed. I highly recommend the salmon, it's cooked to perfection, moist and flavorable (and spicy once they know your tastes) or the snapper (cooked in a sweet sauce and crispy). Everything tastes fresh, and the service is impeccable. The staff is first rate bar none. One of these days I'll make the trek there for dinner. Pros: cant miss menu, ambience, no waiting more

Wonderful Service and Great Food! 8/20/2004

Thai Bistro has it all! Ambience, Service and most of all, the Food! The service is superb, very accomodating and eager to please, without being overly pushy. The food is outstanding! The soft spring rolls, pad thai, and blazing noodles are a must try, to name a few. The atmosphere is very calming, serene and beautiful. An all-around great dining experience! Pros: Food, Service, Ambience more

Wonderful!! 1/25/2004

My husband and I order out from Mekong at least once a week. We just love the food and freindly service. The Chicken Pad Thai is the best in the city and the Chicken curry is just superb. We can't say enough about this place to our friends. We have so many restaurants to choose from in Houston but we find ourselves going to back to Mekong River each week. Whenever we eat at Mekong we are delighted with the service. Pros: Inexpensive, Delicious, Great Service more

Great Service, Good Authentic Selections 9/22/2002

I love trying out new restaurants and this was one I wasn't too enthusiastic about trying because it wasn't located in ""Bellaire/Chinatown"". Usually those Vietnamese/Chinese restaurants located outside the Bellaire/China district are very Americanized. This isn't necessarily bad, because some of the Vietnamese food you would want to be served that way due to the taste, texture, solidarity, etc. of the dish. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. I had the goi du du (papaya salad) and Mekong Inferno. The previous person who rated this restaurant said the food was bland. Perhaps he/she didn't realize that the food can be cooked to spicy the person wants the dish. The fare is Vietnamese and Thai Food with a twist of fusion fare. They are located in a convenience location, near West University. more

Great Food Bad Service 8/28/2002

The food is excellent, try the Mekong Specials like Blazing Noodles and Mekong Inferno (not nearly as spicy as they sound). The lunch prices are reasonable. The only problem? Service. I have dined her 4 times and each time the service was incredibly slow. Do not come here if you are in a hurry. Pros: Lunch Prices, Great Taste Cons: Slow Service more
