Food Poisoning at TGI Friday's, March 19, 2011 4/8/2011

I have been a long time patron of TGI Friday's in Columbia, SC, but I won't be eating there again. On March 19, 2011, I ate Friday's shrimp and broccoli and got food poisoning. Within 30 minutes or so I was violently ill, throwing up several times. I saw my doctor March 21 (since the 19th was a Saturday) & was diagnosed with food poisoning. I had never been that sick before! My doctor advised me to call the restaurant which I did. The manager I spoke with was not friendly at all & just told me to fax the doctor's diagnosis/bill to him & he would forward it to their insurance company. He basically came out & told me that if I had food poisoning it would take 48-72 hours to show up in my system. Whatever! I faxed the information & waited to hear from them. Nearly a month later (April 7) I finally got a call from the insurance company telling me that without certain medical tests to determine if I had indeed had food poisoning, I basically didn't have a case. No offer of any compensation was offered to me what-so-ever! I got stuck with the bill for my meal, my doctor's appointment & missed a day of work. It took several days before I felt back to normal. DO NOT EAT AT TGI FRIDAY'S....or if you do & get food poisoning, make sure you have the "right" medical tests done. more

Editorial
  • In Short
The much-copied look of hardwood floors, decorative stained glass, checked tablecloths, brass rails and walls filled with knickknacks has been a staple at this restaurant franchise. Originally a hit for its frisky bar scene, Friday's is now known just as much for its kid-friendly entrees. The menu alternates between typical American fare (salads, potato skins, Angus burgers and grilled chicken) and modestly international cuisine like fajitas, wraps and pot stickers.
