The Scene
The dining room, along with the rest of the hotel, was lovingly restored to its original 1925 splendor during a $93 million facelift completed in 1992. Its glistening wood floor, high ceilings and graceful, full-lenth windows on one side provide an elegant setting. A beautiful curved, cherry bar sits in the center of the room, providing a popular place to hang out with a date and drinks if you're not quite ready to eat.
The Food
The menu is new American, featuring sophisticated dishes like seared, sansho pepper-dusted tuna, served with Basmati rice; or macadamia-nut crusted grouper with citrus-papaya salsa. Another winner is the swordfish salad with a delicious, homemade vinaigrette dressing. The desserts are to die for, especially the fancy chocolate creations by award-winning pastry chef Thomas Chin.
