What a nightmare 10/23/2009

Four of us waited an hour and fifteen minutes for our entrees, despite getting our appetizers quickly. As we were in a hurry, we had ordered all three courses at once. Turns out our waitress spaced out and didn't turn in our entree or dessert order. When this was discovered, the assistant managers, instead of getting something, anything, to our table, lied to us about when the food would be on the table and, rather than bringing things as they were ready, as we requested, brought everything at once... as we were leaving. We were Ted's regulars, but this is the second time this has happened. We will not go back. Pros: Good food Cons: Dreadful service more

Maybe it was me...? 9/15/2009

Granted, I was alone traveling on business. My wife encouraged me to find Ted's and give the Bison burgers a try. The table was offered quickly, unfortunately, it was at the intersection of three isles. I asked if they could find something else and they did no problem. The waiter came eventually but it was well more than five but less than ten minutes after I sat. I ordered a Bison Burger and asked for medium rare. The server cautioned against and suggested medium. Seems they leaned to the rare side or at least that was the implication. This was a Tuesday evening. Not jammed, not empty. The wait for the food seemed somewhat long, the server even came by at one point to say my order was next up, whatever that meant. Five minutes later someone delivered the burger. At this point the sparkling water I ordered was pretty much gone and I was thinking of another. I bit into the burger and to my surprise found grey, through and through. So, I stopped eating thinking the server would pop by in a minute, concur that the burger was used and abused and offer another attempt. The long and the short... after ten minutes of fiddling, and eating the sliced tomato side I ordered (instead of the fries I wanted), which was by the way the same tomato slices as the slice that came with the burger - thin and mealy and nothing like you might imagine a sliced tomato side to be. Anyway, by this time, the burger was not only still grey but was rapidly getting cold. Still no waiter. Yes I could have hailed down one of the other seemingly more attentive (to other patrons with 4 and 6 people at the table) servers and ask them to find my AWOL server. But I didn't. Instead, I lathered on the catsup, finished all but a bite of the burger (for evidence). When he finally arrived, the first thing he asked is if I wanted more water. Too late. I pointed at the burger bit and said, is that really medium? At this point I was more annoyed at the waiter than the kitchen. He said he was sorry and would be right back. Literally, another 5 minutes went by before he approached again and at that point said he was sorry and did I want anything else. I said yes, the check. Again, perhaps it was me. Or perhaps dining alone at Ted's is not something one should do and expect anything other than mediocre at best. I'm pretty sure though that I've not yet really tasted Bison burgers. Sorry, Ted, that's just how it was. Pros: Seated Quickly Cons: Pretty much everything else more

Good but not extraordinary 11/25/2008

We've been to the new Ted's Montana Grill at Avenue Forsyth shopping center three times now. Overall it is good, but nothing to rave about. I've also dined at the Ted's at the Forum on Peachtree Parkway. For the Forsyth location, expect a long wait unless you arrive by 6pm even on a weeknight, as the place is not that big plus proximity to AMC theaters next door and their patrons. Pros: Emphasis on bison beef is unique Cons: Spotty/slow service, lukewarm food, long waits more

The Best Burger's I Have Ever Had 8/26/2008

My first experience at Ted's was simply the best I could ask for. When I entered I was welcomed not by the hostess saying smoking or non or how many but ""welcome to Ted's"". When I sat in the booth I noticed the recycled paper on the table and inquired about this and was told that Ted's actually won the ""green award"" for doing the most recycling in the entire resturant industry. That amazed me! However this is about the burgers so I ordered a Bison Montana Burger medium and fries. I had never had bison before and I was taken back by how great this burger actually was. It was cooked right, it came to my table hot and it was juicy and very flavourful. I was thinking it would be gamey tasting, but it wasn't at all. After i asked about how this was accomplished, the manager told me some things that I did not expect to hear. He told me that the meat was never frozen; it was ground in house 2 or more times daily, formed to order and nothing about it was not fresh. I know from experience that not many places if any can say this. This was a truly splended experience, and I have recently sworn off beef burgers. No joke I have since dined at Ted's at least 4 times a week and i have almost tried every variety of burger they have. Everybody should try these bison burgers at least once. Pros: Burgers,Steaks and Milk shakes Cons: The music may be a little old for my taste but I hardly notice more

It was okay 5/20/2008

My dining experience was so-so. We were seated right away at a booth, which was comfortable. The staff was courteous and friendly. No complaints there. My husband liked the pickles and they offered to let us taste the meatloaf and bison roast and potatoes which was good. They also have really good yeast rolls but you have to ask for them. I ordered a beef burger and I didn't like it. I don't think it was anything they did, I just don't think it was my type of burger. I had only a few bites. The onion rings were okay, not great. My husband ordered the chopped steak which was the special for the day. He wished he had ordered the bison potroast that we sampled. All and all it was a pleasant dining experience, I just wasn't thrilled enough with the food to return. Pros: prompt seating, quiet, lots of booths Cons: food more

Really disappointing experience 9/8/2007

We were excited at the prospect of eating at Ted Turner's signature restaurant and were expecting a strong competitor to Mortons. We were disappointed and frankly surprised by the meal/experience. While the staff was super friendly... (we ate at the bar)...The food took a really long time and it was only after we enquired about its where-abouts that the bar tender said.. oh let me check and then arrived back with a plate that was clearly sitting for a while and was getting cold. During the long wait, we were told seperately that the baked potato was off, and then the subsitute sweet potato went AWOL, so when we opted for the mashed potatos, we were not feeling very confident. They did arrive with the cooling steak. The steak was very good however but did not merit the $30+ price tag considering the overall 'packaging' it arrived in i.e. the ambience/experience etc. Pros: high end interiors and friendly/homely staff Cons: the FOOD! more

Lack of flavor 1/2/2007

Went for the first time with family from out of town. The bison steak had very little flavor to it -- same with bison burger. Best meal was the salmon on the kids menu. Restaurant is overrated and we were all disappointed. Although the food wasn't great, the service was very good. Pros: parking, service Cons: food more

Good or bad 11/2/2006

If the server can get your order right, then the food is really good - bison burgers are mighty tasty. Only problem is that every other time I've been, my order has been wrong. more

Ted's Saloon Is The Best! 8/15/2006

I live around the corner from Ted's, and go at least once a week. The interior is wonderful, right down to the stamped-tin ceiling, and the beautiful Remington bronze sculpture. I love their Blue-Plate specials. My favorite is Mondays, The Chicken Fried Chicken with gravy, mashed potatoes, and green beans. I sit at the bar, and Jamie, the wonderful barkeep/server is terrific. And so is John flying around the dining room charming all the customers. Other times for a serious dinner, the Cedar Plank Salmon is killer. Burger's?--bison, beef, or chicken. I prefer the beef with those home-made onion rings. And the half-sour pickles on the bar, I can't stop eating them. Give it to Ted Turner, when he does it, he does it right! And don't forget to try their house special Martini, Grey Goose with Bleu Cheese stuffed olives~ Pros: Wonderful Food, Staff, and Close To Home! Cons: None! more

Best Bison, very friendly 6/21/2006

My husband & I were very pleased with the food. We were very glad that there was a place that had something other than chicken, fish & hamburger on the menu. Loved the bison. Wished we had something like that in our area. Keep it going! That's where we'll be the next time we're in Ga. Even the waiter was great. The Manger came over & asked us if everything was okay. It's just a friendly place. An At. Pros: Loved the decor. Remined me of the old time salon. Even the waiters. more

Best Bison Burgers! 6/21/2006

They have the best bison burgers with all combinations of of toppings than you could dream. All bison is available on a beef and chicken. All desserts are homemade! It is consistently great. Pros: Unique burgers Cons: always cold more

great selection of burgers 6/17/2005

The burgers here are very good. What I like is that they have a huge selection of various burgers and toppings, while most restaurants only have a handful. Pros: menu more
