SCAMMER ALERT - Do not go. 9/18/2011

Going to Ted's reminded me of movies where vistors get royally screwed when passing thru small Southern towns. My advice - don't go.\r \r -=-=-\r \r Clientel all seemed to know each other - very small-townish and the diner style (the building and the food) is very much remeniscent of the 50's. The only tables that couples are ALLOWED to sit at were small and cramped (There are permanent signs on the larger tables prohibiting them from being used by parties of less than 3).\r \r The food was good - not exceptional.\r \r Service started as acceptable but degraded to non-existant. Server never came to check on the coffee - if you want more coffee at Teds, you'll need to speak up loudly and repetetively. When we finally did get some, I got the last 1/2 cup in the pot (which means that the not enough coffee is being made) and no one ever came (or even thought about coming) to finish the refill later on.\r \r Getting boxes for the leftovers was even more of a challenge. Eventually we had to simply go get them ourselves.\r \r Listed prices were about $6 per breakfast and $2 for coffee, so when it came time to pay, we expected to pay about $14, but the bill came to $19! Bill was not itemized so we asked for quick review, which was presented as rapidly as one could imagine. The numbers still didn't add up so we had to ask again. Everyhing sounded OK until the last item, which was a WHOLLY UNEXPECTED charged 3.00 ala carte price for English muffins!\r \r When the waitress asked about type of toast, we asked about english muffins - and were told ""no problem"". Since we never got toast, there was no reason to expect an a (hefty) la carte charge for them.\r \r Called Ted by phone afterwards to let him know, and he's oblivious to the problem of misrepresentation. His comment: ""Hey - we have to make money too.""\r \r As you can expect, we're not (ever) going back and we're not reccomending this place to anyone - particularly not to friends more

The Best Quick Stop for Breakfast or Lunch 7/11/2006

I have been going to Ted's for MANY years, and I have never once been disappointed. For breakfast, I have to recommend the french toast and for lunch one of their fabulous pitas and/or some homemade soup. Ted himself or his son will probably cook your food, and the waitstaff will treat you like family and probably know you by name after a few visits. If you have to dine alone, this is the place! You can sit on a stool at the counter and enjoy the company of the waitstaff and other patrons. Ted's is a friendly place that makes you feel at home, while eating home-cookin'! I can't say enough about it! Just stop in and try it for yourself sometime! Pros: Very friendly service, great food, reasonable prices more

Great For Breakfast or Lunch 10/30/2005

Open only for breakfast and lunch, but the food is great. I always enjoy a nice omlet in the morning with hashbrowns and toast, or a chicken strip pita with a side of ranch for lunch. The photo's on the wall are real nice. They display different parts of the city about 50 years ago or so. Timing is key when visiting this Coney because it can be extremely busy. Seating is limited and is usually packed. The service is great. The staff is extremely friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. Pros: Great Food, Friendly Service, Prices Cons: Limited Seating more
