The food is cold and the staff isn't all that friendly. Couple that with subpar food and you have La Cumbre. Not for me

Editorial review from Citysearch 2/16/2014

We had heard about La Cumbre on Man Vs food a while ago and have been wanting to try it. Today we finally did and sadly we were disappointed. The food was ok not great and their service was horrible! They were rude and kept rolling their eyes. To top it off the cashier had a friend there and paid more attention to him then to the customer. She ended up charging me for someone else's food them got upset because I pointed it out. They were slow and kept socializing with each other so by the to they finished slowly preparing our food half our order was cold! Definitely never going back and would not recommend! more

Do not eat here! 5/24/2010

My friends and I have gotten burritos from here in the past, but on 5/22/10, we ended up with food poisoning. We called the next day to complain, but there wasn't anybody that understood English. Don't eat here! Cons: Food poisoning more

Taqueria La Cumbre is crap now 11/3/2009

La Cumbre has had a significant downhill slide. What used to be a great place with delicious food prepared with care and pride, has become sloppy and careless, with attitude. Tough, gristly carne asada (when the order was for carnitas) was inedible. They've lost an over-30-years customer. Blech. more

Never. Going. Back. 11/3/2009

La Cumbre has been one of my favorite places for over 30 years. Hadn't been there in awhile, but stopped last night for a burrito to take home. First there was a misunderstanding about the cost, which got cleared up, but the outcome was a bit frustrating and could have been handled with more grace and good cheer. But imagine my surprise, and disappointment, when I opened my burrito at home and discovered that although I had ordered carnitas, what I had been sold was carne asada, tough, grisseley, and I don't eat beef. Might as well have tossed $7 onto the sidewalk. Couldn't eat it, had granola for dinner, after having my heart set on carnitas all afternoon. They hadn't been particularly busy - they just were operating on auto-pilot. Not my favorite anymore, and they've lost a good customer. Pros: Used to love it. Cons: Totally disappointed. more

Taqueria La Cumbre is the best and great flavor 10/21/2009

The Cumbre is the best!! I LOVE it because it has lots of flavor and love in the cooking. I also love it because it is quick and easy to eat! I love the burritos that are always smelling good!! more

I put that Burrito before you: 1/8/2009

READ IT IF YOU CAN. Taqueria la Cumbre, when I was feeling oh so lonesome, wandering around the city of San Francisco by myself on a weekday afternoon, despairing, starving, and unable to conceive of my true home on the East Coast, you provided me with a pillow of meat and cheese wrapped in a delicious flour tortilla, and for that, well, I know not how to thank ye. more

The Taco Mountain 5/12/2008

La Cumbre Taqueria or 'The Taco Mountain' (as I've translated) is a fine fine taco-munching establishment. Nice service and tasty treats. HMMmmmmmmmm more

A great burrito for cheap 6/22/2005

La Cumbre has weathered the years on Valencia Street, witnessing whole neighborhoods appear and disappear around it, all that time serving a fine burrito. The atmosphere inside is quiet, with plenty of seating for groups or just by yourself. As far as the food, burritos are the trusty warhorses round here. Check out the hot sauce they serve also. more

Delcicious tacos! 10/4/2003

Their super vegetarian tacos are delicious. Just the right combination of gaucamole, sour cream, melted cheese, soft fresh tortilla, rice, beans and salsa. The ingredients are very fresh, and everything is cheap. Pros: Cheap beers, not too brightly lit, small and intimate more

El Mejor 9/7/2002

This place should have won best burrito....I""ve never been disappointed with their super grilled chicken burrito. The meat is superior...none of that knuckely, gristley stuff you can get in other places. The overall burrito is juicy and savory. My only complaint is, they should get better chips! Theirs are too thin and often stale. more

Love the whole beans! Yum! 8/7/2002

They have the best dam fast Mexican food. I have tried just about everything there. JUST DO IT! Pros: Inexpensive, Great food! Cons: Crowded at noon, Parking can be tight more

great and cheap 7/25/2002

La Cumbre has great cheap eats for vegetarians and meat eaters alike, as well as healthier fare for those conscious types. Delicious! more

Best Steak Burrito in Town 5/15/2002

There was a time when this taqueria was the most popular in San Francisco. There wasn't much competition back then, though, and now this old standard falls a little flat in comparison to La Taqueria, Taqueria Cancun and Pancho Villa. Still, though, you won't find a better carne asada burrito at those up-and-comers. La Cumbre's seasoning of the meat and the special house salsa make a glorious combination, unmatched anywhere else in the Bay Area. Pros: Burrito Carne Asada more
