Tani's Kitchen is a seriously tiny Japanese restaurant with only 3 tables and a bar area for eating. It's run by a Japanese family, and while the owners can be a little strict ("no outside drinks! Sit there! Don't talk so loud!") they're also friendly and the food is good. They're mainly known for their grilled combo plates, like teriyaki salmon, chicken katsu, karaage. Look for the special dishes, such as potato croquettes, or the japanese hamburger, which are fabulous and you probably won't find elsewhere.
Prices are unbelievbly cheap- I just ate a bowl of beef soba noodles for $4.95. Quite filling great tasting broth, and tender beef. Definitely a place to go for good food on a budget.
