Editorial review from Citysearch 6/17/2014

If I can tell anyone one thing about this place. It would be to never go there. The staff is rude and the only thing they care about is MONEY. I was watching my parents dog. A little yorkie and was attempting to save some money and cut her hair on my own. I'm a young single mom so I'm on a budget. So saving money anyway I can helps. The dog moved when I was cutting her hair and I made a minor cut on her neck but not having any experience with this situation.i freaked out found the closest vet open and took her in. If only to be told she would be fine to give me piece of mind. The woman at the front desk was nice but from that moment on everyone In that building was rude. After taking a look at her for five minutes I was told she would need maybe three stitches. I said okay and asked what it would cost. I was handed a bill for $357.00. I was speechless and in tears because I had nothing close to that. I asked about payment plans and was told that at least $200 had to be put down. I continued to cry and decided to call my parents only to be told what I assumed that the price was a rip off.\r After arranging another place to take my dog I let them know but was told I would have to pay for the visit there. I was understanding until I received that bill for $85.00 dollars. Stepping foot into that building was one of the biggest mistakes ever. Please I advise people not to take your loved Pets there. All they care about is money not the animals who need the care. more

Wonderful! I cannot say enough about 5/25/2012

Wonderful! I cannot say enough about Dr. Webster and the staff at TVH. They are all amazing, they provide great service and are really understanding and always answer all my questions thoroughly. I recommend them to anyone who loves their pets! I am so happy with their service and I would never consider changing vets Pros: null Cons: null more

LOVE THIS VET! 3/2/2012

Dr. Webster is a most intelligent, honest and nuturing veterinarian who is admired by her colleagues and adored by her clients. She is forthright while caring for your pets and will DIRECT you to make better choices for them. I.E., When I brought our beloved Golden Retriever in for a stomach aliament the day after a party, she quickly assessed I should not include him in the celebration by serving him birthday cake! Re-read the negative reviews: They are from people who do NOT recognize their negligence as pet owners. YES! An ER visit is MORE than a check-up at the Humane Society. YES! The cost has gone up in the last 40 years. (What hasn't?) TVH is an animal HOSPITAL. Dr. Webster is constantly adding and upgrading surgical equipment to provide prompt state of the art care for your pet. YES! You MAY have a long wait to see a SPECIALIST if you do not have an appointment. Sure is convenient when you don't have to wait for a "sick pet" result though! Lastly, NO! NO! NO! Dr. Webster can NOT risk her license or buisness by breaking OSHA's strict guidelines by giving a diagnosis a client wants to hear over her PROFESSIONAL opinion. Pros: null Cons: null more

Best veterinary hospital 3/2/2012

I would like to say as a client of Tampa Veterinary Hospital since the early 70's my family has always found the doctors and staff to be excellent for our animals. I have taken my cats to Dr.Chambliss and Dr. Webster for every health situation that has occurred to them. I have found Dr. Webster to be extremely caring for my cats as well as my well being because she realizes they are my FAMILY! I always have her treat my cats and trust in her evaluations of their care and have never been disappointed by her decisions for their treatment. She is always aware of the cost and keeps that in mind when treating my 4 legged children and never has she run my bill up with unnecessary tests, x-rays or meds to just make a profit. She cares deeply for my kitties and they have all lived long healthy lives thanks to her good care. On the occasion she is not available my one kitty is very fond of Dr. Gordon who was very helpful with his urinary track infection and Earl the cat insists on seeing him as his doctor. He was very knowledgeable and kind to Earl while treating him and to me explaining the situation and what we would need to do. Once again we did not do any unnecessary work just to inflate the bill. This past week my 17 yr old old cat who would have been 18 in May and always went to TVH for her care had to be put to sleep and we saw Dr. Gulledge because Dr. Webster was in an emergency with another 4 legged patient. Dr. Gulledge was not quick to say lets put her to sleep she immediately checked her out to see if their was anything possible that might help Isabella but sadly old age had caught up to her. I was extremely devasted with having to make the decision to let her go but Dr. Gulledge was so kind to both my cat and me and helped us. She gave Isabella a towel to lie on so she wasn't on a cold table and gave her a shot to help her sleep and give me time to say good bye and be with her. The entire office was extremely kind and considerate with my situation. I have always found the hospital to be very reasonable in their prices and always Dr. Webster has made her self available by person at the office , her cell or even coming to my house. I always think highly of TVH,their doctors and staff because they run a very professional and loving hospital that has and always will be the choice I go to for my childrens' care. I also without hesitation recomend TVH and especially Dr. Webster because I think she is a wonderful vet who tries her hardest to help everyone 2 and 4 legged that comes into TVH for assistance and does best to work with each person and their situation financially that I don't see many places willing to do. I think if someone has had a bad experience then something was wrong because like I mentioned at the beginning I have always found that TVH cared about the well being of my pet first not my wallet! Don't Ever go here 2/8/2012

The reason I gave one star is because I was not allowed to give 0 stars. My girlfriend got me a Doberman puppy for Christmas, so we now have two little guys. She had been going to this vet for a long time and recently we took our Chihuahau, his nail ripped off and was bleeding. For our emergency visit, A. they took forever once we got there, B. they it cost us over $200 dollars. The same procedure at the Humane society would have been half that. Pros: null Cons: null more

Feel the need to post... 1/24/2012

I feel very inclined to post this review because I almost didn't go to this vet because of the negative reviews below. My dog got in a little accident and needed to be seen. I came in as a walk in with a limping puppy. They saw me within 10 minutes. Huge shock. Nurse took all the needed information and once I started asking questions about xrays etc, she made the comment that if for any reason I am worried about cost, they could set up a plan for me. I had never said anything or implied about costs but I found that thoughtful. The Dr was very nice and knew his stuff. He also explained it to me so I would understand. The staff was lovely and answered all my neurotic questions, like a worried dog mom would. They took care of him, gave me my meds and sent us on our way. They cost was right on point... not more than I would think was normal. All in all, very nice place... will return. Pros: null Cons: null more

Loving and Reliable 12/17/2011

I have been going to Tampa Vet Hospital for about 6 years. Dr Webster is wonderful. She has always been caring - through two long illnesses with my dogs - she has been aware of costs so as not to over burden us, and she has become like a friend. The front desk staff is always welcoming and helpful. I have seen other vets at the office. They do not always seem as competent, nor are they as caring, but it may be because they do not know us as well. Pros: null Cons: null more

money hungry 10/13/2011

I still take my pets there because Dr. Chambliss which was the previous owner is still there part time & I see him. He has no control on the charges since the new owner sets the prices and it comes up on the computer automatically. I've been seeing Dr.Chambliss for almost 40 yrs because he is a caring and excellent vet. The day he fully retires I will never return. more

Unfortunate changes 7/3/2011

I've been taking my dogs to Tampa Vet for many years and was always very pleased with Dr. Chambliss. Now that he has sold the hospital to a new owner there has been changes. I still go there because Dr. Chambliss still sees animals three days a week and that's when I make my appointments. more

Terrible 12/29/2010

If you make an appointment, be prepared to wait in the waiting room at least 15-20 after your scheduled appt time. Once the vet sees your pet, be prepared for them to want to do multiple, unnecessary tests which will cost you a ton of money. Then, they'll want to see your pet again the following week and maybe again the week after that. Basically, they waste your valuable time and money. They said our dog needed a ton of tests and treatments for heart worms that would've cost us over $1,500 and when we got a second opinion, the vet said it was all unnecessary and everything is going to cost $430. TVH wanted us to bring in our dog over and over again, never really fixing the problem. more

Response to BAD EXPERIENCE 12/3/2010

Citysearch's 'response' mechanism is not allowing us to file a rebuttal, and consistently gives us an error, and efforts to contact them electronically go unanswered. So, we must defend ourselves against this libelous and patently false attack. more

ALWAYS A GREAT EXPERIENCE 10/20/2010

I must say that I've had nothing but great experiences at Tampa Veterinary Hospital! I have been taking my animals there for over 30 years and have always been treated like family. Every person that works there has always been very friendly and knowledgeable. I feel like my pets are getting the best care from the beginning to the end. I wouldn't take my babies anywhere else! I have also recommended Dr. Webster and Tampa Veterinary Hospital to several friends that have switched from their vet to her and they are very happy. more

BAD EXPERIENCE 8/15/2010

Though Dr. Chamblis was the nicest vet there, they are NOT all that nice. I had visited this vets office one other time and though thought their prices a bit high, really liked Dr. Chamblis so went back. However I couldn't see him so had to see another vet. I have never in my life walked out of place and refused to pay, but I did this day. I was so angry and it was very apparent that this vet did not LIKE the fact I was a breeder. Didn't matter that I am a caring breeder that walked in and willing to pay $300 for 4 puppies checkups and shots, it was just how dare I breed? She insisted something was wrong with 2 of the puppies which I knew was not true, the bill was jacked up, refused to give me health certs unless I came BACK in 7 days later and pay MORE money, etc.. Horrible experience. To prove I wasn't being crazy, I randomly picked a vet out of the phone book, saw him 2 hrs later, a local vet who's been a vet for 30 yrs, and walked out with health certificates stating NOTHING was wrong with my pups. Real obvious I had tried to be scammed. I wrote a letter to the office manager, got a reply that it was being passed to the owner, and have never heard from their office since.... Still can't believe vets like that still exist... Amazed and shocked and such unprofessional attitudes and not to mention I was left in a room for an hour before even being seen and their was NO one waiting at that time. One other client walked out the same time I did after seeing how upset I was...THAT.Says everything because she was a regular client that was also having issues. . SAVE your money and check out the vet!!!!! They are NOT all created equal and this place was horrible! more
