Crazy hectic and busy, but the cheap prices and well-made buns, tarts, and other pastries make everything worth it.

i have to agree with the person above Cons: overpriced, too much lard

I when there last week. Had to tell the lady 3 times to beable to wrote the right order on the paper from the tray. She was too busy chatting with some one. Then a Girl call Apple was putting my order together. At the begining she said 2 milk tea and 1 egg cake, I correct her that it is 1 milk tea and 2 egg cake. Then she pack me 2 milk tea and 1 egg cake. I went back and told her she was wrong. Apple said: I have never help you! You want another egg cake pay me $1 dollar! Pay me Pay me ! Now! Then a nother lady told her she gave me wrong order, I want 1 milk tea and 2 egg cake. Apple pack my breakfast and look at me with angry face, and she said : Who ever wrote the paper on the tray, next time if you keep write wrong i will kill you!!! I did not get my appoligize....But saw a angry face from Apple... Every time when the boss is here at noon time, all workers are so nice. When the boss is not here, workers are all with angry faces. Cheap Services- Charges 50cents for cake boxes. 4/20/2006

Today, I went to the flushing tai pan to get 4 swiss roll cake and some bread. I am taking the cakes on a plane to give away to other people and Tai Pan are so cheap that you wouldn't give boxes for the cake when i spend $27.00. My uncle were nagging that it doesn't look good as gift without the boxes. If it weren't that my aunt keep insisting to take it I would have left without buying anything. Tai pan is not the only bakery around. I have plenty of choices. I am very unsatisfy with the cheap services. I will never go back to Tai Pan again and I definitely will let my friends know about the expensive stuff (the prices in drinks and cake are higher than other bakery) and CHEAP services. more

Tasty Cheap Eats 12/17/2005

Tai Pan is famous within the Chinese communities for their pastries, cakes, and cookies. They have a diverse selection of chinese style sweet cakes, cheesecakes, meat-filled or flavored pastries/buns, sandwiches-to-go, and butter cookies. They also serve those popular bubble-tea drinks but I find them too sweet. Better to go to a cafe that specializes in the drinks. Their cakes are quite light and great for birthdays and celebrations. But you may want to order in advance because they are usually quite busy and crowded. They don't have much seating so it's better to order and go. There are usually uniformed helpers to take your order. My top recommendations are the almond or walnut cookies. They're about $5 per box. Really rich in flavor but a nice treat once in a while. more

Roast Pork Bun Anybody 12/8/2005

If you are ever in chinatown and you have a serious case of the munchies, Tai Pan is the place to be. Tai Pan is a chain bakery that has been around forever so it seems. You wont find doughnuts or any bavarian creme pies here. Tai Pan makes an assortment of chinese style pastries ranging from birthday cakes to miniature fruit tarts to roast pork buns to loaves of bread. Try the coffee or specialty teas or their juice bar. Tai pan can be a good place to read the morning paper while scarfing down a tray full of pastries. Very affordable and opens early. more

Tai Pan Chinese Bakery 8/4/2005

This bakery is one of the best through out NYC. This place is jam packed on Sat & Sun. It's nearly impossible to walk out of the door around those 2 days. The pasteries, buns and drinks are fresh. Tai pan also offers not only buns and cakes, they also sell rice, noodles and breakfast too. They throw out unsold items when the clock hit their closing time. They rather throw it out instead of selling it to you. The prices are decent and their stuff are yummy! more
