My 6 year old son attends this school and he doesn't receive free lunch. On his first day back to school, after spring break, he was given a school lunch to eat. He ate his fruit cup first and before he could continue eating his lunch, a lady from their lunch personnel removed my son's tray and told him that he couldn't eat lunch because there wasn't enough money in his account. The school NEVER notified me of this $9.00 deliquency so that I could make a payment online like I've done in the past. Upon questioning this school, they stated that a notice was sent home by the students the Friday before spring break but my son wasn't in school to receive his notice. I asked why wasn't I called, especially since they have all of my contact information, but no one could answer that. The lunch that my first grade son began eating had to be thrown away anyway, or did they serve tainted food to another student? How inhumane is this to take food out of the mouth of a baby. The property taxes in Country Club Hills is one of the highest in Cook County and this is what you pay for. The person I spoke to that is in charge of the lunch program stated that if a CHILD does not have money in his account, then he can't eat. This is their procedure, she stated. As a society, we would rather throw food away than feed our own hungry children. Really?
