The worse italian food and service ever 4/3/2008

VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE (Rude personel), VERY POOR FOOD (NO TASTE BLAN) Small portions. Recently my girl friend and her son and I took a day trip out to San Francisco spent the day around to the diffrent piers and took a ferry ride sight seeing. Went to Swiss Louis Italian Restaurant for dinner got there just as they were opening for the night had about 4 couples in front of us and then several more couples behind us and some larger groupes of people got in line. Waited about 30 minute before Swiss Louis Italian Restaurant personel walked out and asked everyone how many in your party so after they went through the line of patrons the lead to larger groups of patrons into the restaurant first waited another 15 minute and then started taking the couples in after being seated waited about 10 minutes before our server came up and asked if we were ready to order I said no we were not given any menu's yet so he walked over to a few more table asking the other patrons if they were ready then he walked in to another room and as he walked passed our table tossed several menu's on the table and went to the previous tables after 15 minute came back to our table and asked if we were ready to order yet. We said yes and he took our orders for dinner and our drinks and appitizers and a order of bread after about 10 minutes brought our drinks out and several minutes later brought out the appitizers then brought out our dinners about 10 minutes later . Our drinks were empty still no bread so after pasting our table 4 more time I asked where is our bread. So he walked to another room and came back out with a basket of bread which we were almost done with our meals which FYI was very blan and watery. I asked can we get our drinks refilled He said ok . So after that we tried the bread which was hard as a rock. We finished our meals and our server brought our check (never brought us our refills) so I payed the bill and we got out of there. Will never go there again! more

Decent food; INCREDIBLE views!! 11/21/2006

Our party of six were seated within 15 minutes (other places on a Saturday night were soaring past the 2hr mark!). The food wasn't amazing or anything, but decent for The Pier. The view was breathtaking though; it was so awesome to look out on the city lights. I recommend checking out the sunset here. more

Great People Watching, horrible food 7/24/2006

I was not expecting excellence at a Pier 39 tourist restaurant. However I must say, that even with my poor expectations, I was still greatly disappointed. The service was uncomfortable. The table in front of mine waited 15 minutes for their check. Then upon leaving, were actually confronted about the mediocre tip! When my meal arrived it was cold and overcooked. After ordering dessert with ice cream, the waiter informed me that the kitchen didn't have time to warm the pie. It was the waiters' suggestion that prompted me to request it warm in the first place! While the Calamari appetizer was excellent, and watching families of tourists from all over the World was entertaining, I definitely will never order another meal at this restaurant. Pros: Ambience Cons: service, food more

Horrible 4/15/2006

I am a native San Franciscan, and me and my girlfriend ended up at this restaurant due to really bad rain. We were served cafeteria grade food. On top of that the utensils were at most flash washed, and the ambeince was non existent. To add insult to injury, dinner for two was $57, and we did NOT get any drinks. You are better off walking a bit and goin to Houston's or Butterfly, which serve much better food and probably at the same price, if not less. Just a horrible experience that had no redeeming value. Pros: none Cons: food, the restaurant, price more

Food Without Flavor! 4/15/2006

My girlfriend's plate: The spaghetti was flavorless, and the meat sauce contained very little meat. It compared less favorably than a jar of Prego mixed with dry noodles. My plate: The thinnest piece of chicken breast meat with a slice of cheese melted over half of the breast, and a thin flavorless sauce poured over to finish. The worst chicken parmigiano I have ever ordered. Whats more, it was served with home fried cold and bland potatoes? It gets worse. The bill arrived. In addition to the outrageousness of the $2.00 wage surcharge, I was shocked to see that I was charged $3.50 for bread. It was the first time in my life that I was charged for bread. I felt as if I paid more than $50 (including tip) for a can of spaghetti and a chicken breast patty with tomato sauce poured over it. STAY AWAY! Pros: Pier 39 Cons: Everything Else more

We enjoyed our dinner 9/17/2003

On our recent visit to San Francisco from Houston, we enjoyed our dinner at Swiss Louis. The service was mediocre, particularly with drink refills, but the food was good. I had the lasagna and thought it was some of the best I'd ever tasted. We were also surprised at the affordability of the meal (about $45 including tip) for the two of us, including alcohol. We found this to be quite a bargain in San Francisco. Overall, not the greatest, but we had a nice table with a view of the bay at sunset, and we went home happy. Pros: Price, Food Cons: Service more

Tourist Rip-Off At It's Best. 9/23/2002

I've always thought of pier 39 as an over priced tourist trap but I've always been pleased with the places I've gone until now. This place was awful. The waiter absolutely hated his job and it was painful obvious. He forgot our drink orders and had to be reminded after the appetizers were brought, when we finally got our drinks two of four were the wrong thing. He served a whole crab without the cracking tool or the tiny fork and then acted as though it was an odd request to get these things. The quiet music for ambiance was more like luke skywalker approaching the death star. Pretty much the place sucked. I can't imagine they do much repeat business. I certainly won't ever go back. Cons: Awful Service, Small Tables, Barely Edible Food more
