Sushi Zen is tucked away in the shopping center next to Winn-Dixie. I've lived in the area for over a year and been eating at Sushi Zen for almost a year now. I didn't even know it was here until my last girlfriend found it while we were looking for a good sushi place in my area. It was right across the street from my apartment! The people that run it are all very nice and always give good service. Reading the negative reviews on here, I would bet money those people were rude to the staff at Sushi Zen since I've never seen them act poorly towards a customer and the food always comes out quickly. I eat her a lot, and my favorites are the St. Pete Roll, Kentucky Roll, Joe Roll, Tuna Tataki (on the appetizer menu), and I always order at least two California Rolls. The sushi is always very fresh and the chef makes the sushi efficiently and quick but still with a nice presentation. There are also many different drinks you can order, and green tea ice cream. The atmosphere is usually quiet and relaxing, unless they are just packed with people. Anyone I want to introduce to sushi for the first time, or show them that sushi doesn't taste bad like they have had in the past, I bring to Sushi Zen. I have converted several people to loving sushi, or at least being ok with it again, because of how good this place is. The price you pay is more then worth the quality and service you get. I've tried other places in this area, both in St. Pete and Tampa, and none compare but a few come close. Most of the customers that I meet when I'm eating here have also been coming for a while, some of them for years. They are always excited to be here and consider it a tasty treat like I do. Don't take my word for it, just come try it out, maybe I'll see you there if you come around 6pm since that is when I will be there if I go there to eat dinner.
Pros: Service, quality, ambience, friendly staff and happy customers
Cons: Hard to find the first time since its small, they need a bigger sign!
