Fantastic!! Great sushi. 8/13/2011

All I can say was this place was amazing! The decor is nothing special but was very warm and romantic. The menu wasn't overwhelming and they have a great selection of rolls as well as sushi appetizers. We had their house special rolls, Graduation (a baked roll, strange but creative) and Red Dragon (a raw sashimi roll with ponzu and jalapeno). The server recomended Tuna Guacamole appetizer (another latin influenced item) Amazing! We finished with TyKu Sake and some lychee flavored sakes. They were delissshhhh. Don't miss this place when you are in town. more

Best Sushi around 6/15/2009

This place is always a must visit when my husband and I go to orlando. We just got back and during our 10 day visit managed to get to the Sushi house 3 times. Each time we had great food! David was our sushi chef every time we were in there and he made the best sushi I have ever had. The staff and chef were very nice and accommodating and made us special orders on our anniversary. I am looking forward to our next visit so we can return to this great restaurant! Pros: prices, creativity, atmosphere, staff more

Great Sushi and Atmosphere - Watch SUSHI CAM!! 2/1/2009

We were here for the first time after reading the reviews, and although this is not the best location in the city, the inside is warm and romantic. They had good lounge type music, and about 5 tables in the early evening where we were there. I normally like to sit at the bar, but with 4 of us in the group, we decided for a table on the side. This gave us a great view of there Sushi Cam that shows the chefs making sushi live on TV. This was very clever and we have not seen anything like this. Pros: Good sushi variety, live sushi camera, good parking, great desserts, good prices Cons: not for kids, no noodles. more

not bad, but not great. go for the cooked entrees 10/16/2008

I have to say some of these reviews seem to be very phony,i especially notice it when the writing style is the same for a majority of the reviews. anyways I went to sushi house pretty excited to only leave with a mediocre feeling. I wouldnt really waste the trip over here in a hurry to come for the great reviews. The parking lot was extremely packed because of the surrounding restaurants, but keep in mind this place is very tiny. It's actually good place if you like small joints, but not a great place for larger groups. the kitchn food is actually not bad, but sushi could be better. Tasted very warm for some reason, i like my tuna nigiris at a cool temperature and fresh. if you go try the chicken teriyaki. I might come back if im in the area, but there is a few sushi spots i heard of in that area i havent tried yet that i heard were pretty good. Pros: dark atmosphere good for dining in small groups, chicken teriyaki Cons: parking and sushi preparation more

The best sushi in Orlando by far!! 8/19/2008

This place is such a great find. We found Sushi House from our GPS visit Orlando and we were not disappointed. The place has great, fresh and creative sushi, friendly knowledgeable staff, and nice ambiance. We were promptly greeted at the door with a smile, and our server was great introducing us to our new delights. Food came out fairly quickly considering how busy it was, and they really know their sakes. Most restaurants carry 3 brands, while Sushi House has over 60 kinds! We are not big sake fans until we tried it here. more

how did this place get any bad reviews? 6/29/2008

i was obsessed with this place before i moved to chicago, and i still haven't found a place up here to match it. everything is so flavorful and the fish is always so fresh. the servers and the chefs are all so friendly and i've always had great service. every once in a while the food might come out a little slow, but relax, get a glass of wine and enjoy your dinner, its not a race. every person i've brought to this place or recommended it to has loved it and has gone back without me numerous times. my suggestions - sit at the bar, you get your food a little faster. try the emperor roll and the graduation roll - amaaazing. Pros: great food, good prices Cons: small parking lot more

Huge disappointment. High ratings & reviews are completely INACCURATE! 5/5/2008

My fiance & I are avid sushi eaters. We're from the Bay Area, CA, where there are lots of japanese restaurants within a small radius. We make it a point that when we travel to a different state or major city, we try a good japanese restaurant. After reading the reviews online, we decided to check this place out. Walking in we noticed the place was tiny. They tried to make it seem bigger by having the walls on either side of the place covered in mirrors. There was a TV that played a photo slideshow of their mediocre looking sushi. None of the photos made either of us say "oh, that looks good let's try that". Although we went on a Monday night, aside from the 2 sushi "chefs" & 3 waiters, there were only 5 other guests dining & 1 person waiting for their to-go order (that was waiting for at least 20 minutes). There wasn't a vast amount of sushi choices on the menu. We ended up ordering the Emperor's roll, sashimi combination, and Crunchy spicy tuna roll. We received miso soup that came with the sashimi combo. The soup tasted nothing better than plain old chicken broth (unflavorful). The sushi took about 15 minutes to come out (mind you that the other 5 guests were already eating or about to finish). The wasabi was weak (no kick at all). The tako (octopus) sashimi looked like it was sliced with a butter knife (had jagged slice lines). The sushi rolls tasted "generic"; seemed as if they were created just to look good instead of tasting good first. Basically, all show, no go(od). All that food & drink for just under $60. I have no issues with spending a good amount of money on great food. This restaurant falls significantly below standard. The one bright side (if you can even count this as a good thing), is that my fiance received a free refill on her soda. In all seriousness...do not waste your time, fuel, energy, money, or appetite on this place. You are better off dining @ Benihana...at least you'll get a cheezy show with your sub-standard food. Pros: Free soda refill Cons: Quality & quantity of food, slow service, corny/distasteful ambience more

WORST dining experience ever... bad service 4/26/2008

I tried out Sushi House for the first time with my family because we heard such great reviews on about the place. When we came in the door, the lighting and environment was very warm and friendly. We asked our server what was good on the menu, and she started listing the most expensive items on the menu and she didn't even seem like she was into anything she was saying. We asked her if she tried any of these things and she said she didn't know if she did or not. For the size of the restaurant, (it's tiny) she should have seen that our drinks needed refills on more than one occasion.First our miso soup came out and their was a small fly floating in it and the server did not bother to notice it after setting it down on our table. I could understand sometimes small flies could land in food once in a while but the server should notice it before it reaches the table. Then we got our sushi rolls afterwards. My spicy tuna roll fell apart before I could take it off the plate into my soy sauce dish. The spicy tuna was way too spicy and very chewy and had strings of fat in it and it pretty much killd my appetite. All our rolls were wrapped with too much rice...I felt like I could taste more rice in the roll than actual ingredients. Our sushi and sashimi came out okay though -thank god. Overall this place could use some work on educating the servers and chefs. Pros: good traditional decor Cons: service and food more

If You Don't Go, You're Crazy! 2/14/2008

My girlfriend and I just went out to the Sushi House for Valentine's Day and we had the absolute best time of our lives. We got five different kinds of Sushi and a bowl of Miso Soup and everything was amazing...EVEN THE SWEET TEA!!!! The atomosphere was top notch and so was the service. I never, in my life, have taken the time to write a review, but this place was so amazing I had to let everyone know about it. My girlfriend and I love sushi and even try and make it at home, but this was a complete other level of greatness! And to top it all off at the end of our meal the owner, Dun, came by and spoke with us...REALLY SPOKE WITH US! He didn't just ask how are meal was or if there was anything he could do for us, but instead he talked with us about how the Sushi House came to be and how EVERY SUSHI CHEF was 22 years old and younger. He asked us about what we liked and invited us to the Sushi Class they have...which we will be attending in the near future. After ten minutes of talking with the owner we bought 2 t-shirts from the restaurant and left with the greatest restaurant experience we have ever had. Please try this out! Your taste buds will thank you! Pros: Great food, Atomosphere, Service and Overall Experience! Cons: I got full and couldn't finish all my food... more

As a sushi snob, this is the most incredible sushi ever 12/8/2007

The atmosphere is lovely. Everyone who works there from the host to the servers to the chefs are incredibly friendly. It's located in a small plaza, hidden almost, near the Florida Mall. I love sushi, but am constantly disappointed in the actual food, lack of flavor or freshness, and taste when I try new places. Sushi House serves the best sushi I have ever had in my life. Because of sushi house, I can truly say I have had sushi at its finest. Pros: the food, the service, the ambiance Cons: It might be a little pricey if you're looking for fast food prices and they always have memoirs of a geisha playing! more

Great night at Sushi House. Highly Recommended 6/13/2007

Place was very clean and waitstaff were very nice in explaining the different rolls and were overall very friendly. Food was excellent. Had an oppurtunity to meet the owner who was very nice and chatted with me and my girlfriend. Menu is very diverse and conducive to people who eat sushi as well as people who are new to sushi. Rolls are reasonably priced and delicious. Favorite was the Spicy Tuna Tataki Salad. Definitely would recommend going here. Will definitely come back for repeat visit. It's next door to the Outback Steakhouse near the Florida Mall. Pros: Great waitstaff. Excellent food. Cons: none more

Great Sushi bar, ask to meet the owner! 5/15/2007

We heard that this was the place to go for sushi in Orlando from Google and Citysearch. We showed up 25 minutes before they closed, so we sat at the bar. Good choice as we got the "real wasabi" for free (insider tip) instead of a $2 upcharge. Cool little joint and the sushi was really good. HIGHLY recommend the Graduation roll. Definitely the best sushi roll I have ever had. The owner, Dun, is a great guy (salesman at heart) and loves to talk about his restaurant. Staff was very friendly, especially behind the sushi bar. Hey Dun, give me a call when you decide to open a Sushi House in Des Moines or Ames, IA! ~Aaron Pros: Great ambience, fun staff, good prices as far as sushi goes Cons: Closes too early (10pm)! more

Good Fresh Sushi 4/21/2007

Small place with nice atmosphere. Took the head chef a little while to warm up. All chefs joking and having fun at the end. Great food and great fun. You must go and enjoy. more

Bad slow service not outstanding sushi 8/25/2006

I went to this Sushi flop with my boyfriend, and the service was horrible!!! We never got half our order, when I asked the waiter he said he was sorry and took it off the check. Let me tell you something their vegetarian sushi was NOT the best, and keep people waiting for food that never shows up is rude!!! We only received our appetizers we went to another resturant afterwards to eat. This place is horrible and I will continue to pass on the bad word. HOW RUDE! Cons: BAD SERVICE, no food!!! more

Why such a high rating? 8/22/2006

This place won "Best sushi" in 2005, and I'm not quite sure how. I mean, don't get me wrong they have a few unique things that are pretty good, but nothing to write home about. My biggest complaint is that their rolls are loosly constructed and overpriced for such a simple concept. Pros: It's a beautiful place and the food is good. Cons: The waiters ignore you and chat. Also the rolls fall apart and it's over priced. more

best unique sushi in orlando. 7/27/2006

service is prompt and courteous. sushi is excellent. and the atmoshpere is great. very cozy and homey ambience Pros: sushi very unique and tasty. service is very good Cons: small space more

Best Sushi choices and atmosphere throughout Central Florida 7/5/2006

I felt like a VIP. No pressure and thorough breakdown of their menu. The sushi chef came to our table and answered all of our questions. Every item we had was perfect, fresh, and well presented. I went w/my 2 sisters who are from Lakeland. We had a blast, and will return frequently. The selection was amazing. Dun and his staff outdid themselves. Very impressive. A must go for ALL sushi lovers. Pros: Great location, great menu options. Cons: Small, seating is close! more

awesome atmosphere and great sushi ! 7/1/2006

This has to be the best Sushi restaurant I have ever been to. Pros: everything but the cons Cons: small restaurant and must make reservations more
