Sushi is just ok, there are better ones in town. I agree with the others that the service is bad. Not recommed for bringing your date.

SERVICE IS SO disgusting 1/28/2010

I hate the service in this place, I wish I knew name of one of the servants tall oriental girl with sleek long ponytail, Just the way she looks at you already makes you feel horrible. Complete bitch, never ever saw her smile or say thank you or please, makes you feel like you stole something from her, or killed her pet fish. YET, we come back to this place again and again, because food is delicious. Every time we get there it's same story, and we just cross hour fingers to not get the bitch server.. but we always do, others seem very nice. the food is just delicious. I hope they fire her or someone straitens her out, I just don't like my food to be messed with so suck it in. I hope to find some other sushi restaurant that has same quality food, because I can't stand this crappy service. Pros: FOOD Cons: uncaring bitchy service more

Things have changed for the better! 8/26/2009

My husband and I have been eating at Sushi Hama for 4 years. It's close, inexpensive and just plain convenient for us. However, the service was always bad and never the reason we went there to eat.\r BUT...something must have happened because we got takeout from them last night and the experience was so great I actually am writing a review for the first time ever. The hostess was extremely personable and opened every dish and asked us if it was OK. We got salads and miso soup without asking. The interaction was so incredibly and surprisingly enjoyable. The food itself was fresh and very tasty. We'll try them again soon to see if this is a consistant thing - we really hope so. Pros: Believe it or not - the service Cons: Not one this time more

Avoid this place if you don't want some dread disease! 10/2/2008

Service was about par for a place that obviously hires illegal aliens...You know, those people that have an attitude towards Americans (gringos) spending good money to eat out.\r \r If you eat at this place, remember what happened to the two US Border Patrol agents a couple of years ago at the Taco Bell on Ina Rd.....their food was tainted by two illegals hocking goobers into their burritos. Pros: The door to leave this place was easily accessible Cons: everything more

will not return 7/22/2008

i went to this place on a quiet saturday afternoon, and when i walked in, the hostess was not very cordial but sat me right away at a table, which seemed to be a problem as it was just me, party of 1. the waitress came and took my order, a spicy yellowtail roll, which she seemed to think was a problem because that's all i ordered. i kind of got a ""ugh, ok"" reaction from her when i told her that was all i wanted. the miso was good but the salad had a weird, fishy flavored dressing. the roll was tasty and decent priced, and my water was refilled constantly but overall i will say the experience was filled with rude servers and not the best of service and i will not be back. i don't recommend it! Pros: good sushi Cons: rude employees more

Awful Service 7/18/2008

I've been to this Sushi Hama place once and I don't plan to go there again. I tend to steer friends away from this food joint because staff is VERY aggressive to customers. Pros: I can't really think of any... Cons: horrible service more

All You Can Eat Sushi Restaurant 7/1/2008

6/28/08 For the last 6 months (out of 6 years)that I have eaten at Sushi Hama,my partner and I have had GI problems. At first we thought it was a GI reflex, but considering the hours involved with the type of GI upset, this may be due to E. Coli or etc. problems. I observed that a Sushi maker does not use gloves to serve food. Waitresses remove dishes as well as serve dishes without hand cleaning, sushi maker will take back fish that the customer has used and place it back in the dish for sushi preparation. Rice pots are set on the kitchen floor and then brought to the sushi bar. The fish may not be the identified fish especially the yellowtail. Spicy Tuna may not be actual tuna. Sushi sometimes has funny taste. Food quality very poor. Think about it before you indulge. You may become ill or you may be cheated. Overall quality very poor with new owner. PH Dept has been notified.\r \r In addition to the above remarks, the owner has the manager and waitresses charge the customer additional money to the tune of $60.00 or more for the leaving approximately 1/2 to 1 cup of rice. The manager had to be threatened with Police activity before he would take my credit card for the correct amount of money for ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI and a small beer. I seriously think the more people know this, customers will be hesitant to eat there. In my sincere opinion there are definitely food health and cost problems in this restaurant. Hopefully, the owner, Mr.Raphael(?) may do himself in because of the poor quality of his restaurant. Realistically, it would be safer for the unknowing customer Pros: Poor quality food, poor cleanliness and poor customer relations Cons: large parking area more

Absolutely Horrible Service - food okay. 6/13/2008

I have ordered take out from Sush Hama East several times usually without a problem. One night I ordered 2 dinners to go and only got one salad and one soup. I asked a server for my other salad and soup and she insisted that since I was ordering take out I would only get one salad and one soup even though I ordered two dinners. I tried to explain to her that if I was sitting at a table with my husband and we each ordered a dinner we would each get a salad and a soup. She became extremely aggitated and started yelling at me that I was ""disrespecting her"" and I was giving her a hard time. I was taken a back and asked for the manager but unfortunately he was not there. When I asked for his name, she said they were not ""allowed"" to give out his name.\r \r I have never been treated so rudely in my life. I have not returned there and have told many people about my bad experience. After reading so many reviews about the poor service of that place I am astonished that it is still in business. I am glad to know I am not the only one who has had such an awful experience, but on the other hand I was hoping it was just that particular waitress who was so awful.\r \r These servers need a lesson in customer service. Pros: Food is okay Cons: Horrible service more

Service isn't snappy but you can't beat the price 2/14/2008

So Sushi Hama East isn't the quickest sushi joint in town, but with all you can eat sushi at $16 Mon - Thurs one really can't complain. I've been there several times and have never been sick from the food. If the sushi bar gets backed up, ask for the free tempura and dumplings that are supposed to come with your all you can eat meal -- you won't get them if you don't ask even though the sushi order card states they are included up top. That will keep you happy while your sushi gets rolled. Sushi Hama East is the only sushi place I will go to in Tucson except for Yoshimatsu. Pros: Cheap and tasty Cons: Slow service more

If You Want to Serve Yourself and Get Laughed at Go Here! 1/5/2008

We went to Sushi Hama East. The service, by far, was the worst service I have ever had. I went with a party of 5 people. 4 of us had the all-you-can-eat sushi special and 1 of us ate a chicken dish off the menu. After we ordered, we waited for our server to take our order to the sushi bar. 20 minutes later, my husband shouted out, ""We are ready!"" Then we finally got our order taken. Drink refills? Forget about it. We asked for more water and never got it. The pitcher was less than 3 feet away so I just got up after about 15 minutes and got it myself. Finally, we just started doing everything ourselves. After waiting (another 20 minutes after filling our sushi refill order), we finally just started taking our sushi orders to the counter ourselves. My husband noticed a couple come in and sit down. After half an hour of them sitting there after filling out the sushi order, the man flew up his hands and they both left the restaurant. To make matters worse, it wasn't like the poor service was as a result of catching them on an ""off night"" when they didn't have enough servers. There were definately enough people employed, its just none of the servers worked! There were 3 women that were servers, hostesses, and cashiers. Then there were two sushi chefs and one dishwasher. That is 6 people working to serve three tables. The rest of the restaurant was empty (as I can't imagine that they get many return customers). It seemed that once the sushi orders got put in, the chefs did a pretty good job of making the sushi, but the problem seemed to be the servers. There were several times that we didn't know whether items were still coming or not. For example, they brought out our first sushi order together, but not my husband's food. Then later sushi orders were piece-mealed together, with some items never arriving. Instead of serving us, waitresses were pointing and laughing at us behind the counter, making us feel like they did something to the food. Pros: Food decent Cons: Pour your own drinks, get your own plates, take your own orders more

avoid a trip to the hospital 8/27/2007

I don't think the fish they use at this food joint is fresh. Last weekend, I went to the place only to wake up with severe rashes the following morning. It's probably in your better interest to stay away from this restaurant. Cons: bad food more

bad service, not so great food 5/21/2007

Sushi Hama is infamous for its bad service. Sure they will bring you food eventually. However, if you make suggestions about the food or even ask them to fill up your water glass, chances are, someone will yell at you. Visit this place at your own risk. Cons: bad service more

horrible service 4/11/2007

If you want average food and horrible service, go to sushi hama. I agree with the fact that you get better service at most fast food joints. Pros: no tips necessary Cons: worst service in town more

Excellent Sushi 2/12/2007

Sushi is prepared very properly and taste is excellent. One of the first all you can eat places. \r Family can dine there and feel comfortable. Pros: Food, and Value Cons: Slow service at times. Waitress can be very misunderstanding more

It's just a below average restaurant 2/5/2007

Terrible place to go! If there is the only one place to go for sushi, I will NOT EAT ANY in my life! 1/27/2007

If you want the owner to THROW you OUTof the restaurant although you paid him 15% tips, then please enjoy the trip.(We have 8 ppl but he gave us two tables thus we refuse to pay the 18% party fees)\r \r If you want to exprience the most terrible services by the so-called ""owner""(he claimed so, but he looks like a ""manager"" at all), I am pretty sure you can find another fat ""T-BACK"" from ""prison break"" are serving you. \r \r This is my REAL experience in this SUSHI HAMA on oracle. I was there when it opened by a Korean guy a few years ago! He is a really nice person but everything changed when the fat amercian ""T-back"" owned this place. \r \r He also appears at Sushi Ten on speedway too~~~very very terrible guy~~~His greeting is terrible services and shouting at you because you didn't give him above 18% tips~~\r \r \r \r more

Worst customer service you can possibly get 1/27/2007

The sushi is just ok there. But the service is the worst in town. Let me put in this way, you get much better service in McDonald than this restaurant. I thought you can only find worst sushi or service in Sushi-ten, but his one is even worse. Would never go there again.\r Pro: None\r Con: service, treat people poorly. Pros: No Cons: worse service more

average food, pathetic service 1/5/2007

The quality of the food was very disappointing. Some of the sushi made from thawed frozen fish literally crumbles into pieces. The service is disappointing, too. They just don;t pay attention. Pros: no tip necessary Cons: quiet more

BAD SERVICE 1/4/2007

The f***ing waitress spilled water all over us and never bothered to apologize. She must be married to the owner or something. Pros: below average food Cons: worst service ever more

You get what you pay for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 12/29/2006

I was rather disappointed at the fact the the quality of the food isn't as good as it used to be!!!!!!!! Cons: service more

Excellent price and even better sushi!!! 11/10/2006

My family and I were visiting from Orange County and we wanted to find a good sushi restaurant. So I found Sushi Hama on City Search and went. I am always a fan of all you can eat sushi, but I have been to a few places that have that good deal, but not such good sushi. This place was AMAZING!! My favorite is Hamachi, and I know what is is suppost to taste like, so whenever I have it I am very critical. Sushi Hama had excellent Hamachi, it was the perfect texture and had that wonder buttery taste. We ate so much that night and loved it all. The atmosphere was fun, and even though it was packed on a Friday night, we got in within 15 minutes. It was really nice and a suprise to find such a great sushi restaurant in the middle of the desert! :) Pros: Great fresh sushi, price. Cons: A bit of a wait on a Friday. more
