This is the worst business that I have ever encountered. Called them because of their ad in the Frankfort Station for their offer of free pick-up and returned. On 10/22/13 they picked up my snow blower that wouldn’t start the previous year. Was told that they had not started on snow blower yet but would in about two weeks, and they had only 2 other blowers in the shop at that time. After not hearing from them for a month I started calling during the week of November 25th. After two weeks of their not answering the phone and not returning voicemails, I was concerned that they went out of business. I drove from Frankfort to Lockport on 12/5/13 to see if they were still open. Upon arrival I found that they were still open and very laid back. They had no idea why I was there and after digging thru a pill of orders discovered my machine. “Oh gee, we’ll look at it tomorrow (12/6/13) and call you about the problem”. They never called. On 12/17/13 I again drove to Lockport. The same individual (who did not recognize me) again dug thru the pill of orders. After finding my order he said; “Oh you were here last week, well let me see if I can take a look at your blower today”. After 8 weeks, I said no and told him I was taking my blower with me. It took him over 20 minutes to find my machine. Watched him dig through over 100 snow blower, and not being able to find it when mine was the third blower in his shop this season. Several times he came out to ask what kind of blower it was and whether it was a two stage, etc. While all this was going on, three individuals were sitting around in the back room talking and no one in sight was working to repairing the horde of snow blowers, despite this being the early morning. \r I then took my blower to All Seasons in Mokena. There had already been two large snow fall since Dec. 1st. Figured it would be several weeks before I got my blower back. Two business days later, I pick-up the blower and it was working fine. \r more

So disappointing!\r \r I needed some work done on my riding lawn mower. I received a coupon in the mail from Superior for free pick up and delivery....perfect! I sent in an inquiry on their website, and the owner, Mike, responded saying his shop would call me the next morning. Great! 3 days later, no call. Red flag. I finally called myself, and the shop said they could pick it up Monday, and that it would be about a 10 day to 2 week turnaround. No Problem! Monday, not picked up. They finally picked up on Tuesday, 4/9/13. I called 2 weeks later, and they said that there were still 20-30 mowers ahead of mine, and they do them first come. I was not happy, and emailed the owner, Mike. He said that he would move it to the front of the pack. A week later, STILL not close to getting to mine. I emailed Mike again, received more excuses (""spring is our busiest time"" etc.), but he said that they would discount my service. I called Saturday 5/4, and was told ""I think its done, but I don't know where the paperwork is"". Huh? I again emailed Mike, and he said that I must have misheard the shop, and that it was done. I called the shop on Monday, 5/6, and they said ""its on the lift now....there is nothing wrong with the electrical, but it needs a new battery, cost is $60"". I had them sharpen the blades, $20. Tuesday when it was delivered, cost was $246!!!!!! What could I do but pay?\r \r Poor service, poor estimates, TOTAL bait and switch with the cost of the repairs, and they had it a month instead of 10 days to 2 weeks! \r \r DON'T GO TO SUPERIOR. They don't know how to take care of their customers.\r more

I can't believe these guys are still in business. I'd give them a negative rating if I could. They took my tractor to fix the oil light that was always on. Instead of keeping my tractor for two weeks, they kept it for the whole summer. I had to hire somebody else to cut my several acre lot which wasn't cheap. When I finally got my tractor back, they not only didn't fix the light, they charged me almost $1,000 for something they never fixed. Deal with them at your own risk. I had to learn the hard way. more

Hey Superior, just wanted to let you know that you exceeded my expectations in the repair of my tractor and blower. My good friend/neighbor spoke very highly of you and I took her word for it after feeling like I was taken advantage of by another repair facility. Being a female I am always skeptical. Anyways, from the time I called and made the appointment which I believe was actually after hours, yet a gentlemen named Mike scheduled my pickup, to the estimate I received from a service receptionist to the time my unit was delivered by a very very nice young driver. I didn't think service like this still existed, but you guys are awesome. Thank you so much. I will be getting back to your shop in the fall for a Toro snowblower, especially since you guys told me I would get free no charge pickup/delivery for lifetime with my purchase. Reassuring guys..... Thank you!. more

Fast professional service. 4/2/2012

I had purchased a new Stihl chainsaw from Superior a few years ago and I recently brought it in to have the chain replaced, and I am glad I purchased it through them! They give priority service to anybody who has purchased equipment through them and I had my chainsaw in and out of the shop in no time. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and the turn around time can not be beat. Great shop for all your small engine needs, would recommend them to everybody I know! more

Fair and Responsive 8/19/2011

I found the Owner to be fair and responsive. Superior serviced my small boat engine within a week and communicated almost each day. After the initial engine review, they called me and told me what was wrong and provided an estimate for the engine repair. After I picked up the boat they followed up with an email asking if everything was fine.And to think I almost did not even use them because of some of the other ""bad"" reviews posted. I plan on usingSuperior again when and if needed. more

Anybody and I mean anybody who gives this organization more than one star needs their head examined. THEY SUCK!!!!! 4 times to the shop and still not fixed. I honestly believe they take it to their shop and let it set for a couple of weeks and bring it back. HUGE QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES AT SSER. The only thing this place MIGHT be good at is servicing sing moms, certainly not mowers. If anybody out there wants to make a good living, get into small engine and mower repair and eliminate this place as an option!!!!! more

Being a single mom and female of course, I always feel as if I am going to get ripped off. Not so with Superior Small Engine. I usually don't post anything good, but felt I should in this case. I took my old Toro to this place and now it is running perfectly. I did have to wait almost two weeks, but was told they were very bust at this time of year. All I can say is I am extremely satisfied and would definitely recommend these guys to anyone who needs their lawnmower or whatever else fixed. Keep up the GREAT SERVICE! more

I agree with everything on dwayne's post. Absolutely the worst service place I ever been to. The dummies there couldnt fix a little mini bike so it sat there for months. The $65 deposit they make you pay is non-refundable according to them. I have been calling and calling and they all just play f-ing games. If anyone go's here for service they are as dumb as the guys behind that counter. I cant believe this guy can actually run a company. I definetely will tell all my friends and family in lockport to stay away! more

Worst Service Ever 6/3/2011

I don't know what everyone is smoking, but this business is terrible. They lack in customer service and business skills. They've had my rider since May 16 and I haven't gotten a phone call until yesterday, after I made numerous attempts to talk to someone with a brain there. They don't call, they don't care, they have a smart mouth and an attitude to match. If anyone asks me about them, forget it, they won't get recommended by me. They haven't even looked at my rider yet and keep explaining that they are behind. Then hire someone to help you instead of a receptionist that doesn't have customer skills. I don't even know how much this is going to cost. God help them! more

Keep up the great service. You are definitely needed by many of us who can't afford to buy new equipment every time it breaks down. Superior Small Engine is the best. Not only did they sell me my new Toro snowblower for less then Home Depot, they gave me free pickup 7 delivery for ever!!! They also were able to fix my older Murray snoblower which someone else told me was junk for a very reasonable fee so I could hand it down to my daughter. Can't say enough good things about them. I will be scheduling my lawnmower to go in for a tune-up ans sharpening very soon. It's comforting to know youcan still get great service at a great price in todays world. more

My neighbor told me about the service at Superior Small Engine on Archer Ave in Lockport, IL. Well I am hear to say that these people are the best. Even when super busy after the last blizzard so to say, they exceeded my expectations with the quality of work, fast turn around time and prompt FREE delivery. Yes Free pickup & delivery. The manager or owner even stated that if I did not have a coupon, he would ensure I still paid to pickup fee. My Sears Craftsman snowblower runs like new, even after another repair shop said it was a throw away. Glad to have met these guys, will definitely bring all my equipment to them. Keep up the great job!! more
