Editorial review from Citysearch 6/18/2012

So today I was looking for a quick dinner and Super burrito was the first place that came to mind. I have eaten there several times and have ALWAYS been worried/concerned about the cleanliness. Well today my fears came to light.. As I was eating my burrito I stopped to re-roll it and noticed a odd looking brown thing. After further examination I realized it was a bug and a not so small one at that. I know these things happen but it was located in a spot that they would have noticed while they made it. I do not plan on going back, ever. more

this place used to be so great - good 3/29/2012

this place used to be so great - good food, great prices. Lately it's really gone downhill - the last time I was there (yesterday) the tortillas tasted moldy, the taquitos had the consistency of spit and the chicken tasted old. It's so disappointing because SB used to really be great. I've had about 3 bad experiences in a row now - I don't think I'll be going there again. I sure hope they improve - they used to be the best of the best - too bad. more

I eat here about once a week. 10/22/2011

A few tips for the previous poster and anyone who has not been to Super Burrito. There is a condiments bar on ice that anyone with any sense would take advantage of.. It has green and red salsa, freshly cut radishes, lime slices, and pickled jalapenos with other vegetables. The Super Burger is served on a hoagie like bun, definitely not a hot dog bun. For $3 it is a good burger IMO, and the fresh cut fries, a rarity anymore, are fantastic. The hard tacos are great too. The shells are lightly fried, crispy and hold together. When I get a burrito I ask to have it deep fried which takes it to another level. So if you are not a whiny Californian you will love Super Burrito. more

I really wanted to like this place... 8/8/2010

This place is in a great location, and has great potential. I recently moved nearby, and was in hopes that this would be a regular stop for me. I grew up on San Bernardino, CA Mexican food, moved here 27 years ago, and have watched the local food gradually improve. I have been here three times. First time, I don't recall what I ordered- was nothing memorable, about six weeks ago. A couple weeks ago, I had two carne asada tacos and a side of beans. Distinctly recall a lack of favor- in fact, nursing home food bland. Today, I gave them another try. A ""Super Burger"", a steak fajita burrito, and an iced tea... $10 and change.. The burger was in a hot dog bun pretending to be a torta bun- noticeably not fresh because it was crumbly and falling apart, Then there was the sad meat patty, very thin and over-cooked, A couple pickle slices and a bit of tomato... this poor thing belonged in the burger hall of shame. I've had better off of the $1 menus of the major burger chains. I realize this isn't a burger place, but c'mon! I had higher hopes for the burrito... but NO.... I swear on my dear mother's grave, they used CANNED roast beef. Had that taste you can tell... like the smell of a fre3shly opened can of Alpo. The meat and veggies were at opposite ends of the burrito, My dog enjoyed the meat more than I did... Like I said, I really wanted to like this place... but three visits and not enjoying what I paid for is test enough. Look for a Muchos Gracias, Don Pedros, El Burrito Loco, Aprisa, or even a Taco Bell- but just drive by this place and don't stop. more

Good food, reasonable prices! 3/11/2010

We moved to Milwaukie from California about 7 weeks ago and have been on a mission to find a really good Mexican restaurant. We've tried a couple of sit-down places that just were not that good. Coming from California we had many places to choose from and we hoped SBE would deliver. I have to say we were really pleased with the quality of the food, the price and the service. I called in our order and it was pretty much ready when we got there. The carnitas burrito was great. There was plenty of meat and I loved that they did not ""fill"" their burritos with rice - uggh! Meat, beans, onions, tomatoes and cilantro - delicious. Their beef super nachos were ok - lots of meat. However the chips were not very good and the nachos themselves were not very hot. My husband and I are eager to try their breakfast burritos and more. We will definitely be back! Pros: Authentic flavors, great tortillas, lots of meat! Cons: Chips for nachos could be better more

Go to Taco Bell, Muchas Gracias, anywhere but here! 1/16/2010

I'm none to particular when it comes to Mexican food- I typically love it all, but this place was terrible. I ordered the supper nachos. The refried beans thrown on top tasted like they had just come out of the can, the cheese wasn't even partially melted, and there wasn't even pico de gallo to add flavor. My husband had a pork burrito with beans and rice. His sides were very bland, but he said the burrito was ok. However, he had horrible stomach problems later on. You couldn't pay me to go back. Pros: fast service, convenient location Cons: The food more

Simply great. 2/3/2009

I love this place. I visit it as often as the wallet allows. Bean, Beef & Cheese burrito is my favorite menu item, with it's huge girth, and steamy awesome taste. But I also crave the enchiladas, and the quesadias. I also enjoy the churros. \r \r If you like spicy, delicious food that is priced well for the amount and quality you get, and you are craving Mexican, definitely go to SBE. You will not be disappointed.\r \r Pros: Great food, great smell, great service, quickly prepared food. In a great location, with a grocery store, a gas-station, and a 7-11 all within shouting distance. Cons: None whatsoever. more

great price, Horrible food 8/6/2008

and only 30 minutes away from my house. a real catch if i need a good waste of time and an even bigger waste of a meal. honestly, the most bland mexican food i've ever had. this place makes taco bell look 5 star. more

The Best Mexican fare in the whole Portland area 4/21/2008

Ok, this place is worth whatever wait or menu mishap you have to go through, some of you Portlanders are such cry babies. The last time we ate at SBE our order was had one wrong item but, I ate it anyway and it was still high-quality. Maybe it was a way of trying something different, true is that I really don't really care what burrito I end up with as they all stand alone on terrific taste and authenticity. I have my favorites some of which are the longer on the drive-up menu (Chili Relleno Burrito) however, they still make ?em and all you have to do is ask. Their Chili Cheese Fries are great and all they?re Tacos are amazing. I?m not even going to bring up how good their Flan is. Now, if anyone has still been going to El Burrito Loco # 1, 2 or 3 and hasn't tried Super Burrito Express, you're loco for paying too much and they're quality is inferior compared to Super Burrito Express. Not only that but the drive-thru stays open late too, ?Run to the Border? with that, Taco Bell lovers. *Uggh I can?t believe I even mentioned that tasteless place* \r In other words, Super Burrito Express can run circles around all the other Mexican fast food places in Portland, Milwaukie or WHEREVER! Pros: Excellent food for the price Cons: You haven't tried it yet!!! more

the best mexican food around! FANTASTIC prices too! 4/1/2008

I first went when they had the old building and I thought--hummm OK?! But I was VERY PLEASED with the food. My all time favorite is the soft tostado!!! FANTASTIC!!! I want to try other things but it is soooo good and sooo filling I get stuck in a rut--but it's a very good rut to be in!! Try it--- I am so glad they built a new building-it is high quality food and deserves high quality surroundings!! The prices are great too-it's very affordable to keep coming back again and again!! Pros: I love the drive thru-food, prices, new building! Cons: seems like it could use a little more parking-but never had a problem finding a spot... more

Great Carne Asada and Al Pastor 4/14/2007

My family loves Super Buritto Express. We also love the new, clean wonderful building. The food is really authentic. The pico de gallo is wonderful. Try a Carne Asada Taco or an Al Pastor Taco, they are great! My daughter loves to get the Carne Asada Taco Salad. My son loves a Chicken Chimichanga dinner plate. If you are craving a truly authentic Mexican Meal than forget the La Caretta Amercian/Mexican food style and go for the real stuff they are serving at Super Burrito for half of the price. Pros: very flavorful, fast service, great prices, terrific food more

Love this place 3/14/2007

The hard shell tacos are my favorite, as is the red sauce they give away for free with every meal. Great tasting beans and the burritos are awesome. Try it, you will love it too. Pros: prices, servicce, parking Cons: nothing really more

Best tacos anywhere too! 7/6/2006

I know everyone love's their super burrito, but I think their tacos are the best I've ever had! I try to go there for lunch once or twice a week. And when I need a late night snack I swing through the drive through to get a super nacho (beef) for my wife and I to share. Pros: Great tacos and great prices more

Brand New AWESOME Building 3/20/2005

Super Burrito Express has been rebuilt and now the building matches the awesome food! Must try this food if you like authentic Mexican food. They have awesome al pastor (pork), a special quesedilla with pastrami, carne asada (shredded beef) or lengua for those who really like authentic! Check out the new sunny building! Pros: Authenticity, Food, Building Cons: None now! more

Eat Here often 11/19/2002

Consistently the best food. I am not a huge mexican food fan but I think I have been converted. The burritos are huge and very good quality. more

Should be #1 on all lists! 9/12/2002

These burritos are the best I've ever had. They quickly and pleasently make my custom order to heavenly perfection - every time. They won't slice an avacado unless it's ripe they care so much about quality. I've been going there (both locations) for five years and in all that time I've had great chicken and fresh made rice and salsa that is simply delicious and hot and extremely well priced. I will continue to drive any distance to get there. They are the Krispy Kreme of the burrito world! Pros: Fantastic chicken, Fast friendly service, good green sauce Cons: Need closer location more

Our Special Treat 8/25/2002

We have moved away from the area but when possible we stop at the Super Burrito Express for a special treat. My 15 year old son and I agree that they have the best chicken tacos. Soft tacos stuffed with chicken and a cilantro heavy sauce. There is no comparison. Pros: good food, not expensive Cons: no ambience, slow drive through more

Sooooo....good! 8/6/2002

Only a few words are needed: The SUPER NACHOS are to die for!!!!! Pros: Cheap, Great food more
