Sunset Lounge

My friends and I(6 girls, 4 guys) recently discovered Sunset Lounge on a Saturday night after being annoyed by all the D-Bags and Plastics at the other bars. This place was our savior! At about 11:30 I was surprised to see a line. Hate lines, but the place MUST be that good. After a 10 min wait and a friendly conversation with the bouncers(Cody and Cortez) I was in. The layout and presentation of the place reminded me of alot of clubs in NYC and Chicago. Almost pitch black, if it wasnt for the orange and red lighting. The base of the bar alomost acts like the sun as bright as it is. Very very cool. The lounge was slightly full, but you could easily move from one area to the next. The girls would come and go from the patio to the restroom and we would not ever realize they had left. Making your way to the inside bar was simple. Even if the bartenders were 3 or 4 customers deep, they took care of me within a couple of minutes. Those guys are fast. Especially the Asian looking guy in the middle! He and the two other girls were having as much fun as the customers. You were always greeted with a smile and they remembered my drink AND last name. Thats pretty amazing considering theirs 300 people in there. I understood why the bartenders were having so much fun after awhile. The music is AMAZING. Absolutely the BEST IN DFW. The DJs name is DJ TEK-NEEK. He is an artist. All these other clubs in Dallas have what I like to call them "ipod djs". They just play one top 40 hit after another and call it a night. This guy is really in tune to the crowd and knows how to almost manipulate them. I dont think Ive EVER been to a "lounge" where %80 of the people are dancing their butts off. Its all because of Tek-Neek. Some of the songs that he played were chopped, screwed, and turned into greatness. Whenever someone can turn Bon Jovis "You Give Love a Bad Name" and merge it with Lil Jons "Shots" and have the whole club go nuts, youre doing something right. Needless to say, the girls NEVER left the dance floor and by the time the lights came on, we were all drenched in sweat. All of us will keep coming back until they close this place down. Which I hope is never. more

I recently visited Sunset Lounge and had a blast! I was there for a bachlorette party and could not have asked for a more fun laid back atmosphere! The staff was great from the guys at the front door to the bartenders, waitress', even the bus boys were friendly! The drink prices are good and I had one of the bartenders specialty shots with torched cherry rum...mmmmm DELICIOUS, look for the girl with brown hair I think her name is Melissa! I recommend this spot to everyone! I will be back many more times to come! more

Terrible, awful bar AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Where to begin...we went for a birthday because we heard it had good music & was a fun classy dance place. WRONG! The bouncers were rude & thuggish, the bartenders were rude, made terrible drinks & openly ignored customers to take shots at the bar. Rolling eyes at customers, giving the wrong change, etc. The music, the crowd & vibe were random and questionable at best. Weird unattractive criminal like people everywhere you felt like your wallet was about to be stolen all night AND FINALLY to top it off they charged my credit card 3 times for an amount that was much much higher than the one I signed. I called 5 times and left 3 messages and NO ONE EVER RESPONDED. I had to file charges with my bank. Not to mention it was seedy and felt really dangerous. DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR! more

I don't think i'll be going back to this bar anytime soon. Parking was terrible and the wait staff kind of sucked when i was there. Maybe i just went on a bad night. But i probably wont be going back. Pros: um.. Cons: drinks werent great, bad parking more

Best music of any club in Dallas. Fri & Sat nights always draw a good crowd - late 20s. Best to get there around 10:00, watch the crowd build and avoid the rush. Drinks are stiff...when crowded best to get drinks on the patio Pros: Music, drinks Cons: Sometimes too crowded more

There are so many things that I love about this lounge. First of all the atmosphere is very relaxing and upscale. The crowd is very trendy and classy, ages range from mid twenty to thirties so you have a more mature crowd. Just like with any ?hot night spot? popularity often contributes to a sometimes-crowded environment; this doesn?t make for a un-comfortable situation as many people mingle to the covered patio. Sunset plays a variety of music; so you will not hear just the top 40 or house music all night, enjoy the diversity. Just like many of the Dallas lounges, Sunset?s drinks are not only with in the same price range, they have some of the strongest drink I have tasted, well worth the price. I have been going to this lounge for a year and I have never encountered any thing other than friendly, courteous, and prompt service. They do have valet service and if that is full. This was my first time at Sunset Lounge and it was an awesome experience. The drinks were good and the wait at the bar was minimal. It was not too crowded which made it easy as a women to get to the restroom and bar fairly quickly. The staff make you feel welcomed and the atmosphere was one that cannot be duplicated. I will recommend this bar for a while to come. I am also in the alcoholic beverage industry and this is a hot spot.....trust me. I frequent many club type bars and dance clubs in Dallas, and found this one to be a regretful choice on two occassions. Good luck finding parking, and then the long wait to get inside. I found the staff to be very confrontive and hostile on the second visit. Prices of drinks are unreasonable and the staff is extremely slow in getting them out. The security is a candidate for anger management courses as they are easily combative, as I witnessed this with a group near me on the second visit. Not a place I would suggest to anyone! I fell in love with this place just for the bright vibe it rubbed on me when I got in. The lighting and decor give that relaxed sunset feeling, yet the colors get you in that happy cheerful mood. Dont be put off by its outside apperance, once you go in your in total bliss. As far as the food and service, I cant complain. The food was good, and it was served in a timely manner. Sunset is a hip bar that draws a great crowd with lots of attractive people and is a ton of fun...the staff and owners are extremely friendly and are genuinely dedicated to make sure everyone has a great time....the vibe is cool and the music is awesome...great mix of old school and contemporary rock and hip hop....we are never disappointed!! more

It took me a little time to find a great bar in Dallas, this is IT! Great drinks, not too pretentious, cool music and people. It's comfortable, trendy and super cool. Sunset is a great bar to let your hair down and have a great time. It tries to be stuffy Dallas at times but thankfully it fails due to its great music and fun crowd. Truly anything goes at this bar and it is always a great time. more
