The two reviews below are obviously bias b/c they were written by people who work there. Look at how different they are compared to the others! They even sound like a brochure. He...

Highly disappointing 5/17/2012

Yes, the view is amazing!! But it doesn't make up for the very, very poor service and less than mediocre food. We were 7 for lunch - the restaurant was almost empty - and we were there for over 2 hours. Our waiter, although pleasant, was not knowledgable about the food and was ridiculously slow in delivery. The food was disappointing. I had the Chicken Pecan salad which featured peaches. What I got was a place with 3 overdone chicken fingers and CANNED peaches. In Georgia? Really? The one redeeming factor was dessert - well done and well presented. Won't be back and I won't recommend this restaurant. If you want the view, absolutely head up....but then head back down for a much better lunch! more

Never ever go here got a big iron pin in food 3/9/2012

pathetic restaurant. Got big iron pin 2 inches in food. It went into mouth and then realised something is hurting. Inside mouth bad damage can't eat anything anything salty now. Manager is too bad never ever go here. Going to doctor and decided to take action against them. Its like they want to kill me. more

great for hosting out-of-towners 11/10/2011

The prices keep me from coming here more regularly, but the Sun Dial is always on the itinerary when I have guests in town. It shows off Atlanta from a spectacular view, and offers delicious food and cocktails all hours of the day. As others have mentioned, service can be poor at busy times, but overall, the intimate environment and thoughtfully selected menu are worth the trip and the extra few bucks. In fact, I'm on my way there now, with some guests! more

Don't Bother 12/5/2010

The view is phenomenal, but that is the only positive thing I can say. Service is SSSLLLLOOOWWWWW and our waiter could not be understood as his accent was very heavy. For the prices we were paying I expected seamless, high-end service. They forgot my son's vegetables and I had to ask for a soup spoon for my soup and a steak knife for my steak, not to mention drawn butter for my lobster! At least offer me regular water or sparkling before you sneak an extra charge in...rolls were stale....steak and lobster were tiny and overpriced....my son's chicken fingers were better! Decor is very old, greasy businessmanlike....Tomato soup could have been Campbell's.....will not go again....rather spend my money at Sugo....now, that is an awesome restaurant, and it is just around the corner from us! more

Nothing but a View 12/5/2010

Horrible experience! We sat in the bar/lounge area and waited ~45 minutes for a server to greet us after sitting down. When we wanted refills or the bill she was nowhere to be found. The food was not good. The menu selection is small, over-priced, they were completely out of deserts, and many of the drinks were pre-mixed. Our bill was $92 for 4 drinks and 2 appetizers and our server added an 18% gratuity for a party of 4! The atmosphere is very old and the bathrooms were dirty. Also, our parking pass was improperly validated so we still had to pay to leave the deck. I thought they might try to change their image or renovate after being closed from the tornado damage in 2008. I was wrong. You pay for a great view but get nothing to compliment it. The Sun Dial failed to stand up to any expectations one might have for a restaurant so widely known around Atlanta. more

most disappointed dining experience 8/22/2010

Sunday brunch One of us had a ""pecan-glazed chicken /peach salad"" with some type of vinegarette dressing.... the chicken had a slight pecan taste, the peaches were rock hard & otherwise the salad was completely bland. I had the eggs benedict which had an odd tasting, weirdly cured Canadian bacon with a fried green tomato on bottom that just didn't taste right. The dessert was good & juices were okay, but it was overall the most disappointing dining experiences that I can remember.... I am sure there was something worse, but I don't remember. We would have been off @ the waffle house. more

Great Meal with a Spectacular View! 8/9/2010

The view at the Sun Dial restaurant is splendid. The food always taste great. Its a great place to eat with the kids on a special night out. Its also a great location to take your wife on a nice evening out. We have been several times and we have never been disappointed. The food is very good, but can find restaurants with better food. But the food combined with the fantastic view cannot be beat. more

Deserving 7/17/2010

Sun Dial deserves a good review for it's fine dining and wonderful view of Atlanta. I'm a satisfied customer with a smile on the face everytime I visit Sun Dial. more

one of a kind 7/14/2010

I am always satisfied whenever I visit this place. I am always looking forward to a sumptuous treat when I think of visiting this restaurant, and I am never disappointed. They are very consistent when it comes to delivering excellent food choices and high-quality service. Truly one of a kind. more

Impeccable View 3/16/2010

After toiling over what rating to give the Sundial, I decided to go with 3 stars. Given the spectacular view and great service, I would normally say that it deserves 4 stars, but given the high price, I decided to go with 3 stars. Its definitely worth the trip though and I would encourage you to visit...just get a drink (great wine selection) though, and skip the food. Pros: View of Atlanta is Amazing Cons: Food is Just OK more

great view! 1/21/2010

The best view in town! This would be a perfect valentine's day destination! It is especially wonderful at sunset, and I can't wait to see it remodeled! The food is great, and the cheesecake is a perfect end to a picturesque meal! Pros: romantic, great view and food more

Great view... 11/3/2009

The best part about this resturant is the view. Atlanta has one of the most beautiful skylines. However, the food is VERY over priced for what it is. It's not bad by any stretch, but is just so, mediocre. Pros: great view Cons: food is mediocre more

Wonderful at Sunset! 7/27/2009

I tried to get to the SunDial at sunset we missed our 8:15 reservation and made it around 8:45. Staff was polite and we were immediately accomodated. The sky was still a little pink. The view was breaktaking! My boyfriend and I were speechless. I was surpised at how big the restaurant was and how nicely dim and romantic it was. Don't feel bad for taking pictures, everyone does. We were celebrating my boyfriend's acceptance into Pharmacy school. I hadn't had the chance to tell our server, Abdul, but he brought us an extra dessert. Raspberry and chocolate sorbet. I don't like chocolate but the their chocolate sorbet was good. The Blackberry Napoleon was good (the berries werent sweet but...so what) the cream was so heavy and rich. YUM! Food is pricey...I would reccomend to share dessert. drinks (wine) are small but nice. Perfect restaurant. Staff is friendly and parking is validated at the end of the night. My boyfriend felt so special and kept thanking me. You will get many brownie points. Pros: View, Perfect service, Dessert, Wine, Paid parking Cons: None (I guess price???) more

THE PERFECT PLACE. 7/12/2009

My boyfirend and I had a wonderful time at the Sundail. The food was great. My boyfriend had the eggs over Altanta and I had the lime gilled shrimp. The view was breath taking and the New york cheese cake was great. So anyone that goes to the Sundail must try the New York cheese cake. Believe us you if you want a breath taking view and wonderful food. The Sundail is were you need to go. GO NOW!! more

Impressed 4/9/2009

My wife and I took her parents visiting from St.Louis there on a thursday night and it was great. We had to wait a minute to be seated even though we had a reservation but the food and the view made up for it. Me and my father in law had the pork chop covered in fried oysters and a bacon hollandaise sauce with collard greens and it was freakin awesome. The salmon and halibut the ladies ate were great too.The server seemed confused at times but we had a great time and the view was outstanding. My in laws were very impressed. Pros: Outstanding view, Great Food Cons: The wait for a table more

Wonderful Experience 10/12/2008

Many of the reviews state that the staff was unfriendly or rude, but I have never experienced that. My husband and I have been to the Sundial twice, and have enjoyed it both times. Of course the fact that it rotates is awesome. You make a full rotation in one hour, and Atlanta is such a beautiful city, the view is amazing. The dinner plates are small, smaller than most we've been to. The price is expensive, but not as expensive as some. Expect about $100 for 2 people. Pros: Wonderful view, romantic atmosphere, drinks Cons: small dinner plates more

1st time out... here is my review 1/27/2008

We arrived for our dinner slightly early (30 min). We were told we could go to the bar and wait and have a drink. We had 2 drinks (ok in price 22 dollars in total). I asked the server if she could notify us when our table was ready, to which she replied, no it would be better if we were there when our time was up. I kinda didn?t like that but hey, it?s their rules I thought. Anyway, the food was good and the service from an Asian gentleman named Peter was good. Hopefully you will get him. He stated he has been there awhile and he really knew his stuff. He even managed to take pictures of us and told us what picture shot would work best. All is all a fair restaurant at a decent price (100 bucks in total). The only thing that turned me off was the whole bar experience and the comments that the server made. If you want to have a 5 star restaurant... you need total 5 star service from top to bottom. Because of this, I rate them as average. Pros: Valet parking paid when you dine in Cons: bar staff not very pleasant more

don't miss this 1/4/2008

I can not say enough about how great the service we recieved while dining at the Sundial. The service along with amazing food (don't miss the mushroom ravioli if available) and the view on a clear night made this an incredible experience. I would recommend going here at least once. Pros: the food , the view , and service Cons: price more

First timer and I was impressed 10/16/2007

My girlfriend and I were spending a wonderful evening out on the town. We had a great ride up from Milledgeville. We were on our way to another restaurant, which will remain nameless. They didn't treat us well at all, even though we had reservations. It was horrible experience. So we decided not to eat there. We took a carriage ride around downtown and the attendant spoke highly of the Sun Dial restaurant. We were intrigued so we decided to eat there. The elevator ride was fantastic. It was great to look out on this great city. Our wait time to be seating was about 2-3 minutes. We were seated. Our host was well mannered, funny, and on point. Our night was fantastic. The food, especially the rib eye steak, was ""oh my gosh, mouth watering"". The view atop was beautiful. My girl was looking so lovely in the romantic setting of the Sun Dial as it turned. We had a great conversation. The atmosphere was perfect and its moments like those that should be treasured. If you ever get to go, it is worth the time and money. more

It's always fun there! 5/28/2007

The reason I decided to try Sun Dial, because I used to visit places like this (revolving restaurants) in Moscow and St. Petersburg! We were in Sun Dial a few times by now! The first thing, you get into Westin Hotel, and elevator takes you to the highest floor! The restaurant itself does not spin, only the bar, which is upstairs.. We spend on our dinner over 200$ and food wasnt that great, not even close to be the same quality as it in Nicolai?s roof, or Eugene restaurant. I mean, it was OK! Bar upstairs was much more fun and of course crowded. The same jazz band always playing such an EXCELLENT music!!! The minimum cost of a drink no less than 12$. The night Atlanta view from bar is so Romantic. I recommended go to that place at the night time only! No day! Service was so-so.. but our waitress was very beautiful looking girl. So, no complains from our side about slow and poor bar service. more
