I've gone to Dr. Sundberg for dental care for 2 years and I will NOT be going back. She has horrible staff turnover, even in this economy!! (that's not a good sign) She talks...

Editorial review from Citysearch 3/7/2013

My husband and I have been going here for a couple of years and only because we like Ben the dental hygienist for our cleaning. Dr Sundberg and her receptionist on the other hand are a nuisance. Numerous phone calls, text messages, postcards, surveys (if you write a compliment you get $50) emails to try and get you to come in. Telling you to come in before the year ends to maximize your insurance coverage. Always asking us to change our appointments and when we ask to change it if it's a minute past the 48hr window you get slapped with a fee, ridiculous! \r I seem to get an x-ray at every visit, even just for teeth cleaning and she finds something that needs work on, I've had her other staff tell me they are not sure why a tooth was marked for a filling when they didn't see a cavity!\r My last teeth cleaning she said I need a filling, and when her staff checked it they said there is no cavity, so she went back to her previous x-ray and she said, 'hmmm the tooth mineral must of restored it..i was like what the heck is that possible???? then she laughed and said good thing you waited otherwise we would of put a filling in for nothing' \r Most recently I had a crown put in with the wrong color shade - i don't know how the high technology got this wrong - i went ahead cos it was my last visit and it was my back tooth anyway. So they told me my insurance covered 60% of the crown, which meant i had to pay the difference of $398. They took lots of pics to ensure the crown would not get denied, low and behold my insurance did not cover this and I am requested to pay $600 more because they did not check my insurance. I told them this is their error and I only agreed to pay what was quoted to me...now i'm waiting to hear back from BBB Complaints. \r From my experience, I do not recommend this place. more

First, I get the impression that Dr. Sundberg's office is fairly new. I don't actually know if is or not, but it seems like she may be going above and beyond in trying to further her business. The aggressive marketing is a real turn-off. I've received (and on the regular) phone calls from her office attempting to reschedule an appointment I needed to cancel. I can understand a follow-up call, but not three. I received an impersonal automated phone call, a text message, and email, plus an post card from her office wishing me a happy birthday. Cheap, cheesy, and overkill. All of this communication which is nothing more than an effort to get me in there and give them some money is annoying. I never gave her office permission to do any of that. I had to call and complain twice to get them to stop. One of her assistants continued to call me anyway in order to reschedule an appointment.\r \r Second, I decided to get a second opinion from another dentist after my last visit to Dr. Sundberg's office. Dr. Sundberg told me that I needed 3 cavities filled and possibly a fourth. She was so happy when she found them. This was the appointment I needed to reschedule due to financial reasons, which weren't acceptable to the receptionist. I was surprised when the second opinion came back (after xrays) that I only had a single cavity with a spot that needed more brushing and needed to be revisited in the next six months. Saving me a few hundred dollars, I went with the second opinion.\r \r Having recommended Dr. Sundberg's services to my wife, we went over an estimate given of $1500 in dental work by Dr. Sundberg. She also went to get a second opinion at another dentist which had basically the same end result - the appearance of over-diagnosing.\r \r Third, the receptionist is typically very rude to me over the phone. I needed to reschedule an appointment and was immediately given the option of paying a $50 fee for this because I hadn't given them a 48 hour notice. My appointment was on a Tuesday at 3pm. I called Monday at 3pm to cancel/reschedule. I have doubts they were open on Sunday to give me the opportunity to call. I got a bill and almost immediately for $50. After ignoring the bill for a month, they actually sent me to collections for $65. Nice. I'm not sure it's legal to send someone to collections for services never performed. When I called to inquire, the receptionist argued with me and then just hung up on me. When I called back, she just picked up the phone and continued to hang up. Real classy and professional.\r \r I won't go here again and I regret having recommended services here to others. Super, super BOO.\r more

no more, never again... 6/4/2011

I've gone to Dr. Sundberg for dental care for 2 years and I will NOT be going back. She has horrible staff turnover, even in this economy!! (that's not a good sign) She talks incessantly and won't shut up. And it is not about what she is doing in your mouth but more about keeping her schedule full or her vacation plans. She is just not very professional. She is more concerned about keeping her schedule full than taking care of the patient in the char... it is definitely all about making money for her and the care is second, or third. Her husband is involved in the practice and he seems to be part of the problem. They don't bill insurance correctly and then you, the patient, is stuck trying to figure things out or with the bill that they won't pay because she and her staff screwed up ...and this could be because of constant turn over. There are plenty of really good dentists in Portland, save your self some grief and find someone other than Dr. Sundberg! more

Enjoying going to the dentist?!! 5/25/2010

I just had two teeth filled by Viseh Sundberg and believe me I've spent many hours in a number of dentist's chairs starting with my grandfather who was a dentist in the dark ages. I have never had such a pleasant, thorough, professional, caring, and painless experience. Not only is Viseh amazing, the support staff is delightful, efficient, kind, and creates a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere. I'm going back for another round in two weeks and actually looking forward to it - how wierd and wonderful - but that's Portland! Pros: Excellent dental skills, great support staff, as close to pa more

Best office and staff. The Dr. is very involved with the staff and has created a caring family atmosphere. The Dr. has a modern office and uses modern techniques. The Dr. is very proficient and takes time to work with each patient on each visit ( I have been to the office for three cleanings and two procedures. All have been well attended and explained etc.) It would be great to have such a good working relationship with all medical professionals. Pros: Great communication, modern, proficient more

not recomendable to an enemy 5/27/2008

In the beginning she was very open and willing to tell everything about she is going to do and why. \r She installed me an new crown. Which is optical looking really good, but I still cannot bite on this site. \r Maybe it's my mistake, that I paid everything instead waiting a while? \r When I call for an other appointment to correct the mistake they do really busy and do not call back. Also they do not hand out my x-rays. \r Also my feeling is, that they charged me to much: 20% of a cleaning could not be around $150! \r FAZIT: I would not recommend her to an enemy! Take care and try someone else. Pros: She wants to have you as an client and does a lot in the beginning Cons: She is not finishing her job more

Wonderful Dentist in the Pearl 10/23/2007

When I went to Dr. Sundberg's office for the first time, I was expecting a normal dental office, but was pleasantly surprise when I walked in the door. The waiting room feels like a living room and the staff is very friendly and helpful. My appointment with Dr. Sundberg was first rate. She took the time to show me why the work needed to be done with a camera that took pictures of the inside of my mouth. She then took the time to answer all of my questions. At a later appointment when I had a cavity filled, she even called me that night to see how I was doing. I have never had a dentist do that before. Dr. Sundberg really cared about me and I could tell that she wanted to help me. I would higly recommend her to anyone looking for a dentist. more
