One of the best sushi restaurants I've ever patronized, the food is always fresh with a fabulous selection, the staff is always curteous and the price is unbelievable for all you ...

Good selection. As with most buffet's the quality wasn't that great, which in my opinion is a bit scary since raw fish is being served... With Sushi fresh is better. Pros: S...

Try the lunch buffet to save money 6/9/2007

I live in Idaho but eat at Sumo every time I'm visiting family. The trick to making this place work for you is be selective in what you take. 90% of my plate is sushi and of that, I avoid anything with fake crab. I love their spicy salmon, shrimp, and tuna. I find the sushi to be good, not great, but certainly good enough to come back for a few plates. I disagree, based on my experiences anyway, that it is not quite fresh. Some of the hot dishes are very good as are the salads. Desserts are not my taste so I usually pass on them. I almost never drink anything but water when eating sushi so my tab is $12 (although I hear it's now $13) for a very decent lunch. I live a smaller tip than at a full service restaurant as all they do is clear plates and bring water. Usually 10%. Is there better sushi in SoCal? Sure, but Sumo offers a great lunch buffet for a very fair price. more

Pricey 6/5/2006

Sumo has increased its price and if it weren't for the all-you-can-eat sashimi, I would never go. The sushi isn't top quality but what can you expect from a sushi buffet? The shrimp cocktail is gross along with most of the deserts. Don't even bother with the fried foods off to the side because you'll just end up wasting your money. Most importantly, go there a minimum of 2 hours before they close. They stop cutting sashimi over 1 hour before closing time and they stop refilling the sushi then, as well. It irritates me how paying customers, who've all dished out a lot of money to eat at Sumo, are left with nothing to eat when it's close to closing time. Since it is a buffet, we decided to leave very little tip once. The waitresses kept glaring at us and looking at our table to see if we were leaving more money. I thought that was VERY rude of them and highly unprofessional. Did they really expect a 15% tip? We served ourselves! more

GROSS!!! 12/16/2005

This place is really expensive and GROSS!!! If you really know what's good SUSHI, you would think this is the worse place to eat!!! The seafood was not fresh!!! The way the people cut it was wrog too!!! All their rolls (rice part) are HARD as ROCK!!! The cakes, seems like it has been sitting there at least three days. The fruits is nasty too!!! Try not to go there okie!!! oh... forgot to mention about the price it's like $25.99 per person and that doesn't include drinks! more

You ARE what you eat! 10/22/2005

Oh man. After eating at SUMO, you are like one. Man. This place has really good sushi and sashimi. Everything there is handled wonderfully, as well as the fish is very fresh. New food is brought out constantly. There are sushi chefs behind the bar to make sure that the food didn't sit out too long, or that there is nothing there to grab. They are constantly making more sushi. The hot food is okay. There are some really good foods and some that are not that good. But there is something for everyone. Their desserts on the other hand, well , they are okay. The fruit is always really good, but their chocolate dishes, are not so tasty. It tastes like cocoa powder and no sugar, very dry. BUT, overall this place is very good. more

The Whole Pacific Ocean 9/30/2005

One can find the whole Pacific Ocean and much more here at the Sumo Sushi Seafood Grillbar. The chefs are bona fide Japenese and are exorbitant in the ways they decorate and build their cuisine. The whole ocean - from monstrous crab legs to succulent shrimps. This place has it all. Also plent of Sushi. Well equipped with all the tools to eact seafood. more

good buffet but pricey 9/14/2005

sumo is a pretty good sushi buffet but they lack a larger variety of sushi, epecially for the price you pay to eat there. the service is pretty good. the food is okay, but again, i was expecting more for my dollar. i would recommend this place to people who like sushi and aren't that picky. more

Pricey Buffet 9/2/2005

The food was not worth the price. While the buffet did have lobster and sushi, the quality of the sushi was not that great. I would not really recommend this place unless you had one of those 2 for 1 gift certificates The meat and Asian food here was not very good compared to other buffets. more

You feel like a sumo when you leave 8/22/2005

The food here is so good. The place offers a variety of foods. They have different types of Asian dishes. The sushi that they have is very fresh. There is a chef behind the counter that is constantly rolling the sushi and cutting the sashimi to serve. They have 1-2 different types of soups to serve as well. The desserts are okay. Most of their chocolate dishes are not that spectacular, but the other pastries and fruits are good. Their hot food is always to die for. Their vegetable dishes are very good too. With the blends of Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, and bit more, this place cannot go wrong. The place is very spacious, so you could have a large party or small party. The only downfall is that this place has changed hands a few times, so the selections of the food stay the same, just a few of the selections are not prepared the same or just aren't there anymore. So, just hope that your favorite food doesn't disappear. more
