Summerville Dental

Very unhappy with this dentists office. I'm not quite certain about the dentist as he only worked on me for part of my visits with the office. The rest of the time was spent with dental assistants and I am quite concerned that some may not be qualified to do the work they are doing for the dentist. When calling the office, messages never seemed to get where they were intended. I was blatantly lied to on a number of occasions by the office ""mismanager"". The dental work is yet another problem. All of the three caps they placed on my teeth fell out...including a front tooth and they expected me to wait a day and a half to be seen in the office. I would advise you to seek another dentist because I would never want another patient to experience what I have with this office. more

Ever since this office has gone under new management it has been an absolute nightmare. \r My fist exam was canceled with notification only 3 hours before my exam. It was said to be an emergency. Understood. I went in for my exam after scheduling an appointment for the second time and the front of house staff was completely unprofessional on the way in; not even acknowledging me standing I'm front of them at their desk until I mentioned my appointment. On the way out they were extremely rude, obviously irritated at reasonable questions about payments and insurance, and kept attempting to ignore any requests for answers unless promoted multiple times.\r Even with this I went home made a plan because the doctor and back of house staff were great, I figured they were the ones that would ultimately work on me. I had a dental appointment on 4/16/2012 @ 10am. They didnot take me back until 11:45. I saw Dr. Powers one time. I had dental assistants giving me nitrous, way over the limit for my weight, in addition; I had a dental hygienist going needle crazy on my mouth. The roof of my mouth at that! They used two different types of oral medicine in my mouth. One is used for people who have heart conditions, which I don't have, also they used 2 carpules of the drug. By the State of SC, it's AGAINST the LAW FOR A HYGIENIST TO BE PULLING TEETH!!!I DO NOT RECOMMEND this office for anything!! Plus, I feel sorry for the assistant who was on her hands and knees cleaning the floor with Swiffer Wet Jet. more

I knew within five minutes that this dental office is unprofessional and unsanitary. Using lysol to clean is not standard protocol!! I did an assisting/hygiene working interview. Dr. Powers talked to me as if I was a child and cussed me out in front of a patient on the first day! I declined to continue the working interview and left the office as fast as my feet could carry me. Not one person in the office had been there more than 1 week - MAJOR red flags! This man and his practice are not worth your time! I saw the worst dentistry....teeth being cut down for horrible chicklet looking crowns on front teeth that looked terrible! You would be better off working elsewhere...anywhere! more

I would not tell anyone hes a bad dentist, just the worst boss Ive ever encountered, dont work for this man.He has to pay real well to get anyone to darken the door, but its not worth it at the end of the day. His door is still swinging from all the turnover, that unprofessional. He has the worst rep in town, but it doesnt faze him. Hope he appreciates the lack of jobs, itll help him out down the road.
