Sukhothai Restaurant

Yummy!!! One of my favorite places. The staff is nice and the owner is always at the front desk to greet the customers. I have been going for 14 years and I have never been disappointed. Lots of edible vegetarian dishes too! more

Good food overall but i can get the same for less elsewhere. I'd upgrade the decor as well... Chairs are looking dated. more

Used to be a regular here but last two times we went the food was actually very bad. Other then the spring rolls (good) , we sent back one entree and the other one was just barely edible. Sorry to see this happening to them. more

I'm always suspicious when someone who orders curry and white rice raves about the authenticity of the food, and then complains that the green curry, which is supposed to be spicy, is too spicy. The truth is that the food here is about the same as you'll get at any other thai restaurant in Fort Lauderdale.\r \r And its not in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, its on Sunrise just west of the Mall. more

This is a great place for a date or a get together for friends. The food is wonderful, and the service is very friendly. The prices are reasonable as well. more

WOW. Service was extremely lax. Went to dinner here with family friends one evening and I can't even describe how horrible my dish was. The only saving grace was their coconut lemongrass soup. The squid in my dish tasted extremely fishy and rotten, as if they got the shipment in for it roughly 2 weeks ago and finally got an order for squid the night I was there. The eggs and noodles in my dish were HORRIBLE. It was a DISASTER. I really don't understand what all the hype is about this place but it was one of the worst restaurants I have ever dined at. For the most delicious and fresh/authentic thai, go a couple streets west to Thai Spice. You won't be disappointed!! more

Craving Thai on a Friday, didn't feel like waiting hours for delivery. Called in take out order, drove out of my way, starved but expecting the $20 THAI entree cost to be worth it!!! Seafood curry was HORRENDOUS. Overkilled ginger, half cooked seafood, tough shrimp, 99% calamari. I choked down couple bites and threw away. I have NEVER submitted online review, but this was so outrageously bad, I had no choice! more

My girlfriend wanted to have dinner before classes start tomorrow and was craving Thai. As usual, I whip out my iPhone and start up urbanspoon. Sukho Thai comes up as #2 in "Best Thai restaurants in Fort Lauderdale". Note that this place is in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. The atmosphere was romantic but maybe a bit too dim which made me feel sleepy. Service was prompt and exceeded my expectations. I ordered Tom Yum Goong as always (see my other reviews) which was ~$8. I was disappointed when I found out there was only 3 pieces of shrimp. After examining closer, I noticed they were jumbo sized shrimp so that made the price more reasonable. For my main course I ordered Massaman Curry-Pork (~$12), my girlfriend ordered Green Curry-Beef (~$12) which was a bit too spicy for me tonight. The portions were very reasonable and they weren't afraid to give out white rice. I probably had 4-5 bowls worth of rice. Even though I was feeling content half-way through the curry, I ended up finishing everything because it was amazingly delicious. Maybe this is why it is Zagat rated as well. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic setting that's easy on anyone's budget. more
