At first glance, you would think of Sub Med as just another Downtown sandwich place for lunch. It's not fancy, with virtually no decoration or style to the places. Simple tables abound, with only counter service available. But don't be turned off by it, as the food is much better than one would expect. The subs use excellent rolls, light, crispy, and chewy, and the ingredients seem to be of quality. The gyro is good, as is the tuna sub (all white meat). There is a daily special of a sub or gyro served with curly fries and a drink.
Where the place really shines, however, is in the Med part of the menu. The stuffed grape leaves are a nice, light alternative, and the spinach pie is inexpensive and filling. For big eaters, the combination platter, with hummus, baba ghanouj, tabouli, grape leaves, and pita, is delicious and sufficient for the largest appetite.
