I've lived here for a little over a year now and all is well! I'm in the office constantly picking up packages and I've never met a nicer office staff.

Nice, convenient place to live 1/21/2011

I have lived here for several months now and have experienced everything I thought I would. Being that these apartments are located near Wayne State University there are students but the DMC and Harpers hospital are just as close so there are a lot of professionals as well. I really liked what I saw in the apartments and the people I met in the office. The apartments are VERY nice and have everything I was looking for such as updated appliances and granite counter tops and being very open, with that does come a little noise but it is not overwhelming and is only heard if the neighbors are intentionally being loud and again I haven't had this happen but once. I would have liked for parking to be included but understand that since Wayne State own the parking deck that this is impossible, it is nice to have it directly connected to the building though. As far as utilities go...I have been renting for a long time and would rather be able to monitor my utilities so that way I can keep them low and pay what I use rather than paying a ridiculous amount that includes everything as alot of the places around here do. The location is great, I being an artist love that Utrecht is right downstairs plus the bank and restaurants so its convenient. In all, my experience here has been great. The cable service City Cable sucks! I have heard from several of my neighbors how unhappy they are with it as well so I wanted to know what could be done but it turns out that the management has been fighting this battle for months and will be changing providers soon. The rent was a little out of my price range and the parking didn't help but having everything right here in walking distance really saved me a lot on gas which ultimately put it back in my price range. Im sorry others do not feel as though their experience has been as good as mine. more

Horrible Place To Live 11/3/2010

Studio 1 Apartments really deserves 0 stars. They have failed to do anything well. Starters Bar being located on the bottom level of the building ensures late night noise and drunken yelling and arguments... not to mention the noise the staff make when cleaning up. You'd think between starters and studio 1 someone would care.. but this hasn't been the case. Car alarms going off every 20 minutes make it impossible to fall asleep without the aid of very loud white noise (rain, etc) music. There are hardly any professionals living here... obviously no professional in their right mind would ever recommend this place to their friends. Studio 1 has a kickback deal with a very very very low quality ""high speed internet service"" called City Cable... I average 10KB/S... About the only thing ""high-speed"" is the way both management and City Cable brush off complaints from their residents. You can't get an alternate service if you want cable or tv, it sucks, and it costs $70 a month... The really good news though? 8 months ago they increased the cost by $30 to make it faster... but there was no service improvement.. then 6 months later they posted a note saying it wasn't their fault it hadn't been improved... it was because AT&T had not yet installed the optical cable. 2 months on they have ignored requests for refunds for those 8 months ($240 an apartment)... and fail to directly answer anyone's complaints. They have thanked people for their feedback in a newsletter though (obviously a lot of people complained)... but only after a few residents took it upon themselves to start posting calls to action around the apartment building. Anyway, that is just an example, however do yourself a favor and avoid the hassle of living here. The only thing good about this place is the niceness of their maintenance man, James. more

Bad place to live 6/2/2010

The noise level is awful here. Check some other reviews and you will see a common list of complaints. Here they are in one place: Management mistreats you and bills you for unexpected things. Price is to high for the area. everything about starters sucks, including the drunks, fights, and staff parties in the courtyard at 4am. halls and grounds are shabby at best. The parking people locked just about everyone out like deadbeats when management stopped forwarding our money to them like the lease agreement says. Leave your car in the court yard and you will be instantly towed. Leave it in the garage and you might not get it out when they cut off your pass. Doors/fenders will be scratched by starters drunks. You will become friends with several WSU policemen after bi-monthly need to contact them for problems like vandalism, bum harassment, or them coming to you because of noise from you talking in your living room is bothering the kid 3 doors down. Stay away, save $200 a month and live down the street in nicer accommodations. I know im moving. Pros: Nothing that you expect Cons: Constant problems with everything. more
