I know the other person listed had a specific unfortunate incident, but I have been going to string shop for repairs many years as an ASU music major and music teacher, now for my children's instruments. They have a vast knowledge of string instruments from how it should sound to regulation specs of the instrument. They will not only repair your instrument, but make sure it is in tip top shape with smooth moving pegs and optimum sound at better prices than I have paid to regular music store that cranks out rentals. They have their work done promptly as well. They helped me improve my violin sound and chinrest before a big recital, while finding ways to cut costs and recently revived a small violin I found cheap that needed some work.
