My entire experience with this store was very negative because of the owner. The rest of the staff were very nice. I bought a table, 4 chairs and a floor lamp. I was charged $50 for delivery despite living on the next block because the owner said he had to pay for the truck to deliver it. Well, the items were delivered by two sales guys on foot. I was still charged $50 for this - no truck in the picture at all. Then, after plugging in this floor lamp (the kind with five arms and individual glass shades), 2 of the bulbs that came with the lamp exploded. I put in two replacements and they also exploded in the same two sockets. I then purchased higher watt bulbs and, while they didn't explode like the previous 4 bulbs, the glass shades, socket bases, and arms, would become too hot to even touch, indicating a real fire hazard. I contacted the store owner and requested an exchange for another identical lamp because I feared this one was a fire hazard. Three of the five sockets were fine; two would overheat. Well, the owner's reply was that if I wanted to exchange it, I had to take his floor model and that he wouldn't exchange it for a new one. His floor model was 3 years old and had smaller glass shades. I paid $150 for this fire hazard and the owner wouldn't even exchange it for one that wouldn't overheat. I ended up having to contact the manufacturer, who very kindly agreed to exchange the lamp for me. The owner of this Straight from the Crate also owns a few other SFTC stores in Manhattan. Buy from this guy at your own risk and be forewarned that if there is anything defective with your purchase, you're out of luck.
Pros: Nice looking furniture and lamps
Cons: Exchanges/returns for defective items not permitted.
