Look no further for a storybook wedding venue 1/18/2009

If you're trying to choose a Seattle wedding venue and are looking for something elegant and fairly economical, the Stimson-Green is a wonderful choice. We were married there on 1/1/09. Gillian Bauman, the events coordinator, is friendly, tasteful and knowledegable, and has a knack for offering her expertise without trampling on the bride and groom's ideas.\r \r A caterer as well as a venue, the Stimson-Green is also a bastion of sanity during the wedding planning process. Couples who prefer not to complicate their budgets with multiple vendors and want to know costs up front should consider this historic property, where they will receive expert guidance and event service (including the bartender) fantastic Northwest food (which the out-of-town guests won't stop talking about - one of our few local guests even said it was the best salmon he'd ever tasted), and all the stressful little trappings (no need to rent tables, chairs, linens, china, flatware, etc.)\r \r If you want to do an iTunes wedding, this venue is ideal; the existing sound system plugs right into a laptop and feeds into the library speaker system.\r \r We had about 60 people at our wedding, which was the perfect number for this venue. Everyone loved it. We are getting a flood of e-mails (and even thank you notes), not only from our guests, but from our friends who couldn't make it, who are hearing all the raves from the people who were there!\r \r If you're thinking of including the Stimson-Green on your short list of venues, do it. We really cannot recommend it highly enough. It is absolutely worth exploring; and if you ultimately decide to get married here, then congratulations on a fine choice! Pros: Elegant, experienced, reassuring event coordinator, great food, intimate, beautiful Cons: At some point, the party has to end. more

A cool place to host an event 1/16/2009

We went to Stimson Green Mansion last night for their Wedding Open House; we are getting married this year and we're looking for the ""right"" venue... y'know the one that says ""Ah, yes, this is the place we want to celebrate our love and tie the knot"". Well, we may have found it at ""The Mansion"". It's a house (mansion) built in 1899 so it's got lots of history (and maybe a ghost or two?!!), charm, character... if only the walls could talk! When you rent the venue, you get the WHOLE HOUSE, not just a ""room"". They have their own catering team which we find to be a plus (one less thing to worry about planning). The food at the Open House is one of their regularly-offered menus - and let me tell you, it was FANTASTIC! There were carnivorous and vegetarian offerings, so there is something for everyone! There is a ""back porch"" where they set up the bartender table. The bedrooms upstairs are perfect for the Bride and Groom parties to get ready. The Dining Room is elegant and large. You have several options as to where you want to have the ceremony and they will work with you and provide suggestions. Dark (?cherry) wood, large fireplaces... it's just charming. There is a ""game room"" with a gorgeous pool table; I don't know if that is extra. You could host almost any event here and feel comfortable. It might not be for the ""younger"" crowd (those in their 20's), but you never know until you look. Pros: Great ambience, food and service; lots of charm and character Cons: Nearby underground limited parking garage (50 spaces); it's in the middle of a neighborhood on First Hill more
