The 7PM ""dinner cruise"" is well worth it...if you avoid the meal. The Mississippi at New Orleans is approximately half a mile wide and several hundred feet deep in order to accomodate ocean vessels docking at the Port Of New Orleans. The Natchez Steamboat goes down river approximately five miles, then returns upstream. The trip is two hours elapsed time. The Boat's captain and first officer provide a running commentary of what passengers are seeing along the way. The true highlite of the trip is listening to the Dukes Of Dixieland play jazz standards from cast off to docking. The ride is pleasurable, smooth and ends too soon. Eat first on shore, and visit the bar in the main salon for liquid libation.
Pros: Dukes of Dixieland, Great Service, The Mighty Mississip'
