Good when the weather is nice. 3/21/2006

If it's a gorgeous weather day than Starlight is a great place to spend an evening. If it's raining or hotter than hot, I'd avoid the shows. I have always enjoyed every production I have seen at Starlight. My favorite show was probably the King and I. The sound system is good and almost every seat in the house has a good view. I do feel like the seats are very close together and when it's hot outside that makes for it to be kind of uncomfortable. The atmosphere is nice and the ticket prices are very affordable. Some shows are better than others, but that's to be expected. I do recommend this as something to do in KC. more

Under the Stars 9/23/2005

Starlight Theatre offers Broadway shows and concerts at an outdoor amphitheatre near Swope Park. Though it is a big theatre, even the "nosebleed" seats are pretty good. Since the theatre is outdoors, it can be very nice and it can be not-so-nice depending on the heat, precipitation, bugs, etc. However, if you pay attention to the weather reports and prepare accordingly you are sure to have a fabulous time! more

Musicals and more. 8/14/2005

Starlight Theatre is an outdoor ampitheatre that has been a Kansas City staple for many, many years. During the late spring and summer, they have musicals like, Hello, Dolly!, A Chorus Line, Annie, Oliver, and many more. They also have music concerts here, but season tickets will not cover those shows. If you don't mind being in the nose bleed section, tickets are cheap, but if you like to be close, it will run you about $75-100 dollars. Shows are rain or shine. more

Theater under the stars! 8/10/2005

A huge 8000 seater that plays Broadway hits each summer. Great prices on tickets especially when more than one show is purchased at the same time. Also runs 1/2 price seats at times. An amazing experience to be outside with so many people and watch a great performance. Popular shows with a great mix. This year I saw Jesus Christ Superstar, Singing in the Rain and Hello Dolly. Giveaways by the sponsers of each show make for a fun beginning to the show. more

Starlight Theatre 8/7/2005

Starlight Theatre is located near the Kansas City Zoo, and is a great place to see concerts or live theatre in the summer time. Personally, I don't like to see concerts here, but the musicals are great. The prices for the higher seats are very cheap, but if you want the close seats, it is going to run you about $50-75 a ticket. The performances in the past like, A Chorus Line, and Les Miserable, have been perfect. more

Live Music and Theatre 8/7/2005

Starlight offers many Broadway shows, concerts and the ballet throughout the year. You will find some top name performers here also. The theater is actually outside and holds over 5000 people. The stage is enclosed and covered, but the audience sits outdoors which makes it a nice romantic feel for a date or special evening with someone. Many people bring binoculars and pay for the cheaper seats or you can pay a pretty penny and be up close and personal. You can purchase tickets separately or for the whole season here also. This is a great gift idea for that person in your life that loves music and theater and the great outdoors. more
