It seems so old-school to buy your vacuum at a vacuum store, but it's just the best way to go! Their prices are competitive, plus you get to test the thing out before you bring it home. The sales staff is knowledgeable - I went in thinking that I wanted a particular kind of vacuum and came out with something entirely different yet still in my price range. You can get all of the parts that you will constantly need to maintain your vacuum and they provide service here as well. I actually bought my vacuum cleaner at the location just east of SE 82nd Ave., between Stark and Washington. There they also have a Montavilla sewing machine store, too. There's something so reassuring to me that you can still go somewhere and get good service for the appliance that you presumably use on a regular basis (let's just say that our vacuum cleaner will last a long time as often as we use it, but it does a damn good job of making up for lost time!).
