"You know the little twirly arm at the inside top of your dishwasher, that spins so the water spins around? That thing fell off and got melted on the heating element at the bottom of the dishwasher. It's a Magic Chef. Can you help me?" I asked, at two different parts and repair shops before I got to Stanton's on Choctaw, between Monterrey and Oak Villa (which takes you to Cortana Mall).
Gosh, I wish I would've stopped at Stanton's first!
The first place said, "We don't repair dishwashers. TVs, microwaves, VCRs, stereos, yeah...not dishwashers. Try this other place on Florida Blvd."
Those guys (who I will slam in a future review, believe you me!) didn't greet me when I walked into the store (until I greeted them first), didn't make eye contact, made no attempt at conversation, and glared at the computer screen without saying anything or apologizing for the difficulty in finding my part number, and when they finally DID get the part number, they didn't have it in stock. "But we can order it for you. You'll have it in 10-14 days."
Um, my dishes can't wait that long. I had no intention of doing dishes for my very busy, very FOOD-ORIENTED family by hand for two weeks! I'm sorry, what century is this???
The owner did come up eventually and apologize for the lengthy delay, and suggest that this place called Stanton's may have it in stock, here's where their Choctaw Drive store is.
The difference between that store, and Stanton's, was like night and day. Stanton's was brightly lit, with TWO receptionists who greeted me warmly when I entered. They had a nice selection of new appliances for purchase, and they directed me to the parts windows around the corner. It was around lunchtime, and the man at the one open window was on the phone -- so the female employee in the back put down her lunch to help. (Hey, at some places they will NOT do this! I APPRECIATE customer service!)
Now thanks to the other place, I was armed with the part number, so looking it up was a cinch. Stanton's didn't have it in stock, but she said she could order it. I groaned, "Lemme guess, 10-14 days." She looked at me, shocked. "No, 2 to 3 days!" SOLD, I said!
Although I could see that the parts area was probably used a lot by contractors and repairmen, I wasn't made to feel uncomfortable or out of place just being a plain ol' housewife. Nice people.
True to her word, I got a phone call 3 days later that my part was in. Again, there were wonderfully nice employees, bright and professional atmosphere, a tremendous difference from those "other" places.
The price was nice, the people were friendly, and the location was around the corner from the mall -- now how can ya beat that? So, if you're looking for an appliance part, I would highly recommend Stanton's!
