When my son was a patient at KUMC, we found ourselves living in Mission KS, far from our home parish in St. Cloud Minnesota. One of the hospital chaplains was also from Mission and he recommended his parish, St. Pius. We ended up spending over a year in KS as our son rehabbed and established ourselves as temporary parishioners at St. Pius. Everyone was very warm and welcoming. Fr. Ken's homilies were always excellent. Although we were unable to be as active at St. Pius as we are in our own parish, we were able to participate in the monthly meal for the homeless, usually volunteering to make a meat loaf. St. Pius was a great fit for us and helped us through a very difficult emotional time.
Pros: Great homilies, nice people, welcoming liturgies.
Cons: Reconcilation services seemed hurried (the private confession part).
