Good people 10/15/2010

My first experience with SC was for a frozen shoulder. It was very painful. I couldn't tuck the back of my shirt tail in: it was impossible. Within 8-10 weeks, I was good to go. They work fast and I realized that I needed to take mental notes...think and remember what they said about the exercise, the proper way to do it, etc. You keep your own playbook so they encourage total participation and commitment from day 1. I just finished my second tour for a ligament sprain in my lower leg. I could walk a block but any further caused intense pain. I worked with Laurie this time and enjoyed it. After my first appt I told a friend, this girl is smart. : ) I knew I was in good hands and she turned this thing around quickly. I'm up to 35 minutes walking a very hilly path - something I couldn't dream of a few months ago. My first injury, I was referred to Sports Center. My second injury, I requested them. They fix what's broken while staying positive and seriously committed to your recovery. Bang that gong! more

Best Place In Town to Get Bette! 8/17/2010

Started PT in New Jersey and finished her in Austin Texas. After rotator cuff surgery I was told it would be a long recovery time. I was movineg to Texas and needed to get my shoulder back in shape as fast as I could. I was refered to Sports Center and I was not pointed in the wrong direction. The team was great! I am back doing all the things I have to do and with great success. I truly appreciate all the great support and help I received. The office staff was fun and would greet me with a smile and a great greeting. The PT team was very professional and always put me first. I truly thank them all for helping me get back to full usage of my shoulder. more

The WALMART of physical therapists 8/2/2010

inexperienced, low-rate therapists dressed up in a fancy gym. Very corporate. Treat 3 or 4 people at a time. Hard to get their attentions. Cons: know nothing about mechanics. BEWARE. more

First time in PT 3/3/2010

I had a knee injury that I feared was a permanent situation that would prevent me from stepping up my physical activity. It was depressing and frustrating. After spending less than three months going three times a week to the Sports Center, the pain in my knee has completely gone away. I felt like with the encouragement and expertise of my physical therapist (Debbie), I was able to get back on the track of a more active lifestyle. I can't say enough good things about this place. Initially, I thought 3x per week would be too much; but now, I find myself missing it. Being there also taught me a lot about slow and steady progress and commitment - those are the keys. This is the place to go to restore your fitness level after an injury or to address a chronic issue. Pros: Expertise, Caring, Professional Cons: scheduling can be tricky - because they're so popular! more

These guys rock! 2/20/2010

I started going to Sports Center in October after dealing with elbow pain for 3 months. After 4 months of periodic training at the Sports Center, my elbow pain is gone and I can finally lift weights and pick my kids up again. In addition to relieving my elbow pain, I have dealt with neck pain since I was 17 years old (due to a football injury). It turns out that my initial elbow pain originated from the lack of motion in my neck. For the first time in 17 years, I finally have normal motion in my neck and barely any pain. Thank you God for Sports Center! Pros: Helped me manage neck pain and elbow is now 100%! Cons: It's 20 miles from my house. more

4 Month Rotator Cuff Recovery 12/7/2009

The positive attitude at Sports Center makes it easy to keep appointments and the pain-free rehab makes you go back. I had a very positive experience and would recommend it to anyone including my husband who is now a client too. Pros: Pain-free Rehabilitation Cons: Expensive more

Where the best get better 11/16/2009

I went to Sports Center to rehab my hip and subsequently found i needed a full hip replacement. Sports Center got me back to full functioning in only two months. My surgeon was anazed at my speedy recovery. I am still working on full range of motion, but I have no pain and climbed Enchanted Rock last weekend. I am thrilled to be a member of the Sports Center Hall of Fame. Last but not least, Christine, my physical therapist, rocks. I have recommended Sports Center to all of my friends for the warmth, professionalism and customer service given to all who come for help. Pros: Best Physical Therapy Cons: Only one location more

Positive 1st time P.T. experience 10/18/2009

Well structured P.T. program. Frequent testing and program adjustments make sure that you are making constant progress in your rehab without over doing it. The real unexpected bonus here was the constant motivation and positive attitude expressed by the physical therapists. They really took the time to get to know me and my injury as well as my goals and desires. Even though my injury constantly made me feel depressed, I looked forward to going to P.T. because of the people that worked there and the encouragement they gave me. Now I?m all better and sincerely grateful that I choose the Sports Center for my P.T. more

AMAZING for rehab and PT 10/16/2009

Sports Center taught me why my injury happened and how to move past it; I knew very little about knee problems prior to my arrival. The team gave me the tools to better myself and to prevent another knee injury. I had a specially tailored in house PT program that we evaluated each session and there was some work at home. (But it was all part of my recovery.) I am back to running, playing tennis and working out harder than I was prior to walking in the door. I feel stronger and more confident in my knees knowing that with their help I have reformed the building blocks needed to continue with healthy knee movements. I NEVER called my insurance company or had to deal with the headache of hold times and automated systems. They handled everything with a smile! AMAZING staff and superior facilites. Pros: Flexable scheduling, super smart staff! Cons: Centrally located, hit traffic a few times from North Austin more

The Best Athlete Centered Physical Therapy 10/8/2009

I had a femur stress fracture that literally stopped me in my tracks while preparing for an Ironman. Devastated, after 6 weeks on crutches, I still couldn't walk without a limp and running looked forever away. My doctor recommended Sports Center. I was skeptical; I thought I would never be right again. The injury had disrupted a very athletic lifestyle and made me doubt my abilities in a huge way. Pros: I'm running again Cons: They are busy! more

Beyond Physical Therapy 9/2/2009

When I think of physical therapy I think of torture sessions. Not this time. I had knee problems and a shoulder injury and Sports Center eased me back into shape without missing a step. In addition, they have an amazing follow up program that keeps me in shape and makes sure I don't get injured again. The staff is amazing. Pros: Out of the Box Program Cons: None that I can See more

Sports Center gives you a personalized therapy plan! 8/31/2009

I tore my miniscus and decided to give therapy a try rather than have surgery. Sports Center was recommended by a running buddy who also gave me Doug Kelsey's ""LIttle Book of Sparks"", which is a great ""pick me up"". more

great place for PT 8/31/2009

I would recommend Sports Center for anyone who is looking for a PT place here in Austin. The staff is friendly and knowleadgable, and they DO care about getting you back to doing the things that you loved pre injury. Pros: friendly atmosphere, knowleadgable PTs Cons: too many clients = lack of 1-1 attention more

Helping you change your habits 8/31/2009

I've been doing physical therapy on and off for about 20 years. Sports Center is the first place that had me looking at and thinking about my whole body and how things are connected, versus just the source of pain. The exercises are challenging, and help me feel like I'm progressing and getting stronger. I like how Christine takes a personal interest in how I'm doing, noting any changes to routines or potential problems, and finding remedies to solve as well as prevent future potential injuries. She's just fantastic. The women in the front: Ellie, Priscilla, and Katie are all so welcoming and engaging. They make me feel like I'm someone they care about (even from my first visit!). Having a personal experience for medical care is important to me, and I'm thankful I have Sports Center to help me reach my goals (and beyond), while doing it with care. I recommend Sports Center to those who want to work out and recover from their injuries in an active way. If you want pampering and massage, this is not the place for you. They make you work for your recovery and set you on a track for a healthier lifestyle. Pros: Christine: she rocks Cons: Sometimes lots of patients & thus less personal attention more

Enthuastically patient 8/31/2009

I was a baseball pitcher that almost tore everything in my shoulder. I thought that I would never be able to throw again. After surgery and only 2.5 months of therapy I feel that my return to the mound is becoming a reality. Kate (my therapist) really seemed to care about my recovery. She made my injured shoulder stronger and more flexible than my good shoulder. If I ever need therapy again, I will return to Sports Center. Jason Cook Pros: Actually looked forward to PT more

I drove there from Atlanta for treatment... 8/29/2009

The short story: The Sports Center method works! And it isn't mind-numbingly boring or painful. Pros: It works! I'm running again.... Cons: SC is far far away from my home in Atlanta more

Amazing Physical Therapy 8/29/2009

Having never undergone physical therapy before, I was a bit nervous as a newbie coming into an environment I had never experienced. However, from my initial phone contact with the reception desk to exercising with my therapist, the people at the Sports Center make you feel not only welcome but empowered for having walked (or limped) through their door. Pros: Knowledgeable Professionals, Flexible Hours more

great place to rehab 8/28/2009

Sports Center provides a comfortable environment with knowledgeable therapists and a friendly staff. I have gone there for 3 separate injuries and will keep going back for any others! Pros: friendly and helpful staff more

Great place for physical therapy 8/28/2009

I had a severe knee injury 10 months ago resulting in tears in 3 spots of the miniscus. I had a surgery 4 years ago on that knee and my orthopaedic scheduled a new surgery with no guarantee of a full post-surgery recovery. A second opinion from another orthopaedic confirmed the need for surgery but recommended to try physical therapy first for 2 months. He referred me to the Sports Center and I went there. The initial diagnostic test by the therapy specialist revealed a terrible shape of my knee. I was feeling pain with almost every move involving my knee. He set up a recovery plan and we started executing it right away: half a dozen supervised exercises at the Center and a couple others on my own at home. At the end of the first week I could tell that things were turning around. Progress continued gradually and steadily for the following 3 months until I graduated. I am now enrolled in a gym and I am doing all types of exercises 4 days a week. Surgery? No longer needed. Knee pain? That's history since the time I graduated from Sports Center. Still, what gives Sports Center its highest marks is the oustanding friendliness, knowledge, and willingness to help of its staff. more
