Great Prices 7/29/2010

Sports basement has the best prices for lift tickets. As for sports gear, while the selection is not massive, they stock quality stuff and very competitive prices. I never have to worry about overpaying for anything and the gear is of good quality. It is also nice that there are several locations throughout the city. Makes the shopping trip much easier because you never have to stress out about getting across town if you need to pick up any gear. Great place to shop. Pros: Locations Cons: Stock more

Terrible Online Service! 12/2/2009

Looking at the other reviews, I would assume that at the actual brick and mortar store, the service is acceptable and the entire experience is satisfactory. Ordering online however, proves to be a different story...\r \r I ordered a product online, then after FOUR days, they charge my account and says the order has been confirmed. The product did not arrive until 9 business days (13 days total!) and my attempts at communication were comparable to watching molasses shift (ie. did not happen). \r \r The product also looked beat up and the packaging was tattered and loose. There wasn't any physical damage to the product, but it did not look brand new.\r \r Their prices are low, but I would never order another item from this store online (or at all after this experience). Be advised! Pros: Good brick and mortar service, probably... Cons: No customer service online, SLOW product shipping more

They got it all! 5/30/2009

I looove this store. It's so huge and it has such great prices. So many different things to look at and they pretty much have everything for the outdoorsy personality type. It's fun, lots of selections and a great place to shop for clothing, equipment and shoes. Sports Basement Rules! Pros: Great Prices and Fun to walk around more

Great low prices on sports equipment 8/14/2008

I really love the great deals that I get here. I recently went in to buy a lot of camping gear, jackets, and backpacks. I was very impressed by the selection, though a little dismayed by the lack of helpful staff. I did have to go out of my way to find someone who could finally answer a question I had about a product, and they didn't seem to really know the answer anyway. I guess that's what you have to settle for when you're getting greatly reduced prices. I have to say that the product remains to be of excellent quality! Pros: great product, low prices, good sales Cons: lack of sufficient helpful employees on the floor more

The Basement Has Gone Downhill 5/26/2006

The staff at the Presidio store are VERY RUDE and NOT HELPFUL, from the floor staff to the register staff. I walked around for 20 minutes without anyone asking me if I needed help. When I did ask for help, I was visually scolded by the two women for interupting their personal conversation. I will never go to this location ever! The staff at the 16th St Store run circles around them. I'm greeted at the 16th St store, and every staff person has been friendly and outgoing ---- they still have the charm of the original store. Pros: 16th St Store Cons: Employee Attitudes, LONG register lines, Lack of SB charm more

the best place for workout gear 4/23/2004

Sports Basement has a great selection at the lowest prices in SF and the staff is very knowledgable. They've helped me get great running shoes and perfect hiking boots. Always my first stop when I need anything for working out or for the outdoors (I've gotten super deals on fleeces and long underwear for camping, etc). It's kinda in a weird spot but parking is not an issue. Pros: great selection, low prices, helpful staff more

Editorial

  • The problem with sporting equipment is that we often spend all this money on gear only to see it condemned to a lifetime of disuse. Sports Basement has a cure for that, namely its location. Across...
