Really impressed with the level of courtesy and expertise of all the employees of this shop. Originally I took my car to the dealership for service… walked away with a quote close to $4,000 to fix the issues with my car. I took the quote to James at Specialized Auto and I’m glad I did because he was able to get to the bottom of the issue and discovered that not only was the dealership overcharging, they were telling me that I needed unnecessary work. The entire staff is friendly and are genuinely concerned about their customers. They even gave me a ride to/from work so that they could work on my car! I’ve never heard of any other shop doing that! After everything was said and done, I spent approximately $300!!! I can’t tell you the level of relief I experienced after leaving… I was referred to Specialized Auto and will be referring others in return. more

I've taken my cars there for years. I currently have 9 vehicles I use personally and in my business. I wouldn't let anyone else work on them. I do computers, not cars and when I want service work done on my vehicles, I trust Specialized Auto and James. more

I took my car that I had taken to 3 different guys for misfires and knocking, that my family and friends had recommend with no satisfaction. My friend at the computer hospital had recommended this guy. i went over there and he had the car running perfectly - Thanks James more

I tried several different mechanics in Houston before I finally found James Lee, Larry and the guys at Specialized Auto. They’re great! I’ve been with them now for three years. They helped me fight to save my 1994 Volvo 850 and then helped me through the initial inspection and maintenance on my next Volvo, a 2004 c70. Even though I’ve since moved out of state, I still call them for advice. I trust them with my car, its care, my money and my time. They excel at service. They never did anything to my car without my permission. They always explained their assessment of the car and its needs clearly and until I understood it all well enough to make smart decisions. They also took great care to help me understand when a repair was a must-do and when something could be delayed and always counseled me how to best use (or save) my money. When needed, one of the guys would even give me a lift to work while my car was in the shop. And then, after my first car died, they even let me leave it at their shop for free until I figured out how to donate it to National Public Radio. Specialized Auto is very kind, very accommodating and very smart at customer service. In summary, they are the best at Volvos in Houston, and the fairest and most honest mechanics I’ve ever met. If I ever return to Houston, I’ll definitely take my car back to them. I recommend everyone do the same. more

The owner, James Lee, is a real guru of auto repair. He will talk at length about problems you are having with the car, but is always realistic about what repairs are necessary and what can wait. He is very diligent about notifying you about the necessity and cost of any work he does and has never performed a minute's worth of work on my cars without prior consent. And the work is very good quality as well. He is also an advocate of holding onto old cars. Overall, a person you can trust your vehicles with. Pros: Where to start?
